Courier-imap + dovecot simultaneously?
Hi everyone,
I have a client I've been trying to talk into switching from courier to
dovecot, but the owner of the company wants me to set up two different
accounts in Thunderbird (I finally got him switched to that from outlook
express), one accessing his account through courier, and one through
dovecot, so he can compare the speed...
Is this even possible? I've never tried it

[courier-dovecot-migrate.pl] - No such file or directory at courier-dovecot-migrate.pl line 230
Hi all,
I am in the process of migrating my Maildir IMAP server from courier-imap to
dovecot. I am now at the point of converting my Maildirs into a format that
dovecot understands (as per http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Courier).
Problem:
-------
#/usr/bin/perl courier-dovecot-migrate.pl --recursive
Finding maildirs under .

imap proxy and passwd-like passdb/userdb
Hi,
I'm testing/using dovecot as imap proxy, passdb/userdb as
passwd-like-file. It seems to function as expected (1). This setup is
described in the wiki in AuthSpecials. But I also noticed in the
documentation (ImapProxy / FeatLoginProxy pages) that the proxy feature
only works with a sql passdb. Maybe I did something strange, but
passwd-like-passdb does work.....
So I have some

Courier keywords - anyone even tried?
I do realize from the Wiki that the formats are incompatible, and am
looking at the Courier spec
(http://www.courier-mta.org/imap/?README.imapkeywords.html) and the
Dovecot spec (http://wiki.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/Maildir) trying to
see if there's any sane way I could try and write a shellscript.
The pain here is the Courier spec, I think I lost a few brain cells
trying to understand

Automatic Folder Expiry (plugin?)
Greetings,
I'm migrating an existing Courier IMAP installation to Dovecot (1.0rc19
right now) on a new server; there's one feature I'm not sure if Dovecot
supports - but it might and I'm missing it, so I'll ask.
In Courier there's an option to expire a folder after a given time
period; ostensibly it's to keep a Trash folder clean, but we use it to
keep the Junk

a <blush> build/install question
This is probably an idiot (and certainly so basic as to be non-Dovecot)
question, but I have been chasing my tail for a day or so on it, so I
will, with humiliation, ask for guidance on it.
Some time back I had asked if dovecot had to have a whole build tree of
stuff to run or if any upgrade could be limited to just the executable
and some libraries. I was told the latter, and given this

1.0rc25: double INBOX folder (weird)
Let me start off by saying the initial cause was *not* a Dovecot bug. :)
If you have the default namespace "INBOX." (Courier emulation mode from
the Wiki) and an actual folder in your ~/Maildir/ with INBOX in the name
(~/Maildir/.INBOX.Miami), then Dovecot presents them both to the client
as the real Inbox in Thunderbird:
Account
Inbox (3)
Drafts
Sent
INBOX (3)

Multiple private namespace question
(apologies if this has been covered, can't find it on the Wiki/FAQ, etc.)
We have a stellar, fantastic, hard working Dovecot 1.0.5 (yes, I need to
upgrade) installation running in Courier-IMAP compatibility mode:
mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir:INDEX=/var/spool/dovecot/indexes/%1u/%u
namespace private {
separator = .
prefix = INBOX.
inbox = yes

Squirrelmail + Dovecot + Maildir
I have been struggling with getting my Fedora 7 box set up to use
dovecot with Squirrelmail and Maildir. It works correctly with the exception of writing outgoing mail to the right folder (.Sent) or drafts (.Drafts). If I send a mail with Mutt, it writes the mail to the right place, so it has to be squirrelmail config or dovecot config. I want to use .Sent for sent-mail
(~user/Maildir/.Sent) and

Virtual servers
Hello
I'm migrating from Courier to Dovecot (1.0.rc15) on Debian. I am trying
to set up virtual servers based on the principal in this thread:
http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2006-October/017165.html
which suggests something like this to support multiple certificates:
server foo {
listen = 1.2.3.4
ssl_cert_file = /etc/ssl/certs/foo.cer
}
server bar {

--enable-headers-install problem in 1.0.5
I am trying to get a SPEC file for an RPM to build a devel package. I
have it working, except for one thing. 1.0.5 doesn't actually install
the headers with that option to configure found in the subject.
It does create the directory, but it doesn't put the files there.
Timo, is this a known/unknown bug, or am I doing something stupid?
Thanks,
Trever

daemontools
Hi,
I just started running RC2 on Thursday. I migrated an old Courier IMAP
server, and the only issue I had was that I didn't understand how to
enable quotas :)
It's impressively fast, and I'm quite happy with it so far.
This morning I found that dovecot had crashed, I had exceeded FreeBSD's
kern.maxpipekva
Has anyone successfully run dovecot under daemontools? I got it to

Shared mailbox plans
** Configuration **
namespace shared {
prefix = user/%u/
location = maildir:/home/%u/Maildir:INDEX=~/Maildir/shared-indexes
}
So the only difference to how it's configured now is that %u is
expanded to whatever user whose mailboxes we're accessing. ACL plugin
then uses that user as the owner in the namespace's mailbox owner.
Since the default ACL is to not give any access

Public kudos to Timo
I'm sitting here working away on various unrelated projects and watching
patch after patch after patch flow in from Timo to fix all sorts of
problems people are reporting. A coding madman on fire.
Thanks Timo, you rock. I appreciate the time you spend on this software,
I'm sure everyone else does as well. :)

4 Final, RC1 -> Final?
Build team -- what's our current outlook on the 4 Final release shaping
up to be (ie, this week, next week, a month..)? Should it be further
out, would it be relatively painless to 'upgrade' (so to speak) from the
current RC1 to Final when it rolls around?
thanks!

RHN-like system for CentOS?
Team,
Is anyone aware of a Red Hat Network alike system of server package
update status that could be adapted for CentOS3? I'm not interested in
the complete management aspect (channels, scheduling remote updates,
etc) but merely the ability to see your list of systems and determine
which are out of date with XXX packages. If you happen to manage a
large-ish number of RHES3 systems, you

Evolution IMAP with Dovecot as proxy

During migration process we are run Dovecot as proxy of Courier-imap

At present, the problem is that with Thunderbird and other clients,
The client run as normal. But Evolution can't get new messages or
