Minor dovecot/KMail problem
I'm running a dovecot/IMAP server under CentOS-5.3 on my desktop, reading the mail with KMail on my laptop. I have what seems a venerable and well-documented problem/bug; when I click on "Check Mail" I get an error message "Error while getting folder information" ... Actually, this doesn't appear to have the slightest effect on kmail, which works perfectly if one just

KMail
Any hope of KMail (and Kontact) coming to CentOS-7? What exactly is the problem? KMail seems to work on other Linux OS's. -- Timothy Murphy gayleard /at/ eircom.net School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin

Postfix (I think) problem
I'm getting repeated email (KMail) error messages about one apparently over-large post: -------------------------- Received: from helen.gayleard.com (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by helen.gayleard.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id E4500294A0 for <tim at helen.gayleard.com>; Sat, 24 Jan 2015 14:00:05 +0000 (GMT) Received: (from tim at localhost) by helen.gayleard.com

Slight problem with dovecot + IMAP
I'm running dovecot on my desktop with kmail as IMAP client on my laptop. When I start kmail on the laptop it sometimes takes several minutes to "calm down". The number of messages listed in the IMAP inbox increases greatly - maybe from 2500 to 3000 - and then slowly decreases. There are sometimes a large number of duplicate messages, which kmail allows one to delete. I don't

Dovecot GUI
Is there a web-interface to dovecot under CentOS-6? I want to create a top-level folder (ie at the same level as Inbox) but this doesn't seem to be possible from KMail running on a remote Fedora-6 laptop. I was browsing through the dovecot wiki, and I saw some pictures which seemed to be from a dovecot GUI, but I could not find the name of this program. Alternatively, can I simply create

Syncronizing two IMAP servers
I spend time in two places, in different countries. I have a local network in each place, with IMAP servers on each network. I collect email by fetchmail from various servers, and read email on my laptop with KMail. I tried using just one IMAP server, but this proved impractical. So I have two collections of the same sub-folders, on the two servers. I have two questions: 1. Is there a simpler

kmail + IMAPS
I have dovecot IMAPS + kmail working perfectly on two laptops - I'm using one now - but I just tried starting it on a third laptop, and cannot get it running; kmail on the third laptop just waits indefinitely, saying "Retrieving Folder Contents Please wait ...". All 3 laptops are running Fedora 7, with more or less the same packages, all updated. (1) I suspect the problem lies

KMail + dovecot
Is anyone running docecot on a home LAN. to give an IMAP feed to other machines on the LAN? I am running dovecot on my desktop, alfred. I want to collect email on my laptop, william, using KMail. As far as I can tell, dovecot is running perfectly. I can bring email from /var/spool/mail/tim on alfred to the same directory on william by running "fetchmail alfred" on william. I can then

Problem with dovecot on home LAN
At present I get email directly on my laptop in /var/spool/mail/* through uucp. I'd like to get the email in the same directory on my desktop (alfred), and then run a mail server on the destop and collect the email on my laptop (william) (or on other computers on my two little home LANs, ethernet and WiFi). I was advised that dovecot was a good imap server for this purpose (I tried

Spamassassin under CentOS-6.3
Spamassassin seems to have become more-or-less non-functional in use with KMail on my server. It appears to be running OK, but only catches about 20% of my spam. I wonder if others have experienced this decline? I suspect that sa-learn is not performing properly. (I run sa-learn nightly on my spam, which is saved in ~/Maildir/.Spam/cur/ , through the default spamassassin installation.) Eg I

Network guru please help: baffled by missing file
The mirrorlist entry in my Fedora-11 /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-update.repo reads: mirrorlist=https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=updates-released- f$releasever&arch=$basearch As far as I can see, this means that yum is looking for the file metalink at mirrors.fedoraproject.org ? Archive mail format?
I have a bunch of old mail spread variously across dovecot maildirs and mbox format files on several machines that are headed for the trash. Is there anything considered to be a portable archive format for mail messages, and if so are there tools to copy into it - or do I have to pick a client and copy to its local storage? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

Power-outage
I have a CentOS-5.6 remote server in a house in Italy, where there are occasional thunder-storms. There was one yesterday, when the electricity went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion. My server, an HP MicroServer, came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions, but not on the third. I assume that the problem arises because the machine does not close down properly. (Although it is

A gmane mystery
I've been collecting redhat.fedora from gmane for several years, but about a week ago I found that while I could read gmane newsgroups I was unable to post to them - that is, my posts did not appear. I was able to post to gmane.test, and could read these posts. So I assume there is no problem with my From: or other headers. I take it that the gmane.linux.centos.general is in fact

Sendmail "Queued mail for delivery"
I see that mail sent from a remote computer never leaves the computer, the last entry in /var/log/maillog being "Queued mail for delivery". 1. What is likely to cause this message? I know I registered with my remote mail server with a different name to my name on the computer. Is that likely to be the cause of my problem? And if so, what is the solution? Or is there any other likely

Samsung CLP-325W network connection?
Anyone got this working over a LAN under CentOS? The instructions claim it is easy to connect after pressing the WPS button on printer and router. Sadly, I don't see a WPS button on my Linksys WRT54GL router. When I press the WPS button on the printer the WiFi icon flashes, but I don't see any attempt to connect in /var/log/messages on my CentOS-5.5 server. Any advice or suggestions

postfix-dovecot via lmtp
I've been trying for some days to get postfix + dovecot + pigeonhole/sieve working on a CentOS-7 home server.
