Embedding R in other applications as a scripting language
Bryce, embedding R varies from easy to very complex depending on what you want to do with it. If all you want is to evaluate R commands and get the result values then it is easy: you just initialize R with Rf_initialize_R() and use R_tryEval() to evaluate what you need (making sure you stay on the main thread). However, if you want to run the full event loop or even use the GUI elements then it

TextMate: syncPEOPLE on Rails Bundle Becomes Built-in Rails Bundle
It?s official, folks! After talking with my partner, Greg Narain, as well as Allan Odgaard, the creator of TextMate, we (syncPEOPLE) have decided to release our Rails bundle under the MIT license so that it can nest itself nicely within its new home, the TextMate Subversion Bundle Repository. What this means for the rest of us is that all of these great features we?ve been madly

Dealing with R list objects in C/C++
Hi, I'd like to construct an R list object in C++, fill it with relevant data, and pass it to an R function which will return a different list object back. I have browsed through all the R manuals, and examples under tests/Embedding, but can't figure out the correct way. Below is my code snippet: #include <Rinternals.h> // Rf_initEmbeddedR and other setups already performed

How to disable R's crash prompt
Dear R devel, I have a C++ app that calls into embedded R to perform some analytic calculations. When my app encounters a segmentation fault, R always prints the following crash prompt and asks me to enter an action: *** caught segfault *** address 0x8, cause 'memory not mapped' Possible actions: 1: abort (with core dump, if enabled) 2: normal R exit 3: exit R without saving workspace

Controlling stdin and stdout in an embedded R instance
Hello, I am very new to R but my question is with respect to the C API for working with an embedded R console. I have been able to start and stop an embedded R console from within a C program as well as use the API to execute commands in it. I am seeking a mechanism to individually send native R commands to an embedded console and then consume the output of these commands. Specifically, I

About integrating R inside a C++ software
Hi, We are a company developing a software mainly in C++. We want to integrate R inside our software in order to use mainly the engine (usual stats as mean, sigma, Pearson, outlier detection, CPA, multivariate, ...) and probably later the chart solution. Of course we don''t want to temporary write the data to some csv files and then do an ugly system() call :

Problems to compile examples of RInside
Hello, I have some problems to migrate to R >3.0 my devel machine (R.2.15.2). So I decided to start from scratch with a brand new virtual machine. Downloaded latest network install of debian testing, not stable (jessie/sid, SMP Debian 3.16.3-2 (2014-09-20) x86_64 GNU/Linux) installed only with ssh-server and basic utilities (no X). Then I installed R by: apt-get install

RInside & child threads
Hi Folks, I am creating a multi-threaded C++ application that initializes RInside in one of the child thread. I would also like to access support interfaces like Rcpp::Environment in the remaining child threads, so that I could access any "R" function associated with the environment initialized. When I run my program, I always get "C Stack limit too huge" errors. I looked

RInside, rcpp compilation problem
I have spent some hours browsing the RInside and rcpp documentation, lots of it; but ... as a programmer of C++ since 1990, on both Windows and Unix ... ( Solaris and Ubuntu, and Mandrake/Mandrivo Linux); I see a minor problem ...... Where is the rcpp.h header file?? The below code fails to compile as the RInside.h header file references the rcpp.h header file, which is not included with

Embedded R Fails When Run on LSF Queue System
Hi, I had a quick question I was hoping someone might be able to answer, as my journey through the source code so far has not been very profitable. I have a command line program that embeds R, and the program works just fine when run from the command line. However, when I run the program as a job in the LSF cluster at my institute, the following error occurs: Fatal error: you must specify

Bryce 5.5 once ran, before update.
In the application database, there is a revue according to which Bryce 5.5 does not run under WINE. But not having looked at the AppDB first, I went ahead and installed Bryce 5.5 some months ago, which ran fine under WINE 0.9.44 or some such version... Here is an old screenshot of the app, which has been used to render a tree on the Linux Box. (Kanotix 2006-RC4) [Image:

QT + RInside problem complement
The solution post is here: http://lists.r-forge.r-project.org/pipermail/rcpp-devel/2012-November/004771.html In the paragraph: I did need however to install Rcpp and RInside from source, and with the same compiler used to compile qtdensity (otherwise I would get additional linker errors). As I had trouble getting the (Cygwin-based) g++ shipped with Rtools to work with Qt, I used instead the
