dovecot deliver errors
I think someone else mentioned this problem earlier on the list, and
I've recently started seeing the following error show up:
file index-transaction.c: line 54 (index_transaction_finish_rollback):
assertion failed: (t->mail_ref_count == 0)
Raw backtrace: /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver(i_syslog_fatal_handler+0x2b)

assertion on deliver (1.1.beta10)
Hi,
I'm testing version 1.1.beta10 and getting these assertions on deliver:
file index-transaction.c: line 54 (index_transaction_finish_rollback):
assertion failed: (t->mail_ref_count == 0)
This was after an upgrade from a 1.0 release candidate.
If you need I can try and reproduce this in a more controled environment
to pinpoint the problem.
Thanks,

dovecot 1.00 RC2 bugs
imho, dovecot 1.00 RC2 has two bugs at the maildir quota implementation
1. Incorrect calculation of used storage and count of messages
When calculating, dovecot counts "." and ".." directory entries. So, if
there are no subdirs and messages in maildir,
maildirsize still shows 4 messages and some used storage.
My workaround is

doveadm quota get doesn't recalculate quota (Maildir backend)
Hello,
I've noticed that "doveadm quota get" doesn't recalculate quota if
maildirsize file is missing for some reason. It just says quota is
unknown, usage is 0.
In contrast, vpopmail does regenerate maildirsize if it is missing.
Reading the Maildir++ specification there is this part:
...If maildirsize does not exist, or if its size is at least 5120
bytes, recalculate

(Somewhat urgent) Problem with maildir++ quota
Hi.
I have an strange problem with dovecot's maildir quota and postfix.
I've tested quota and it works fine but sometimes there are users that
having their Maildir/ empty, they trigger the "quota exceeded" message
when someone sends email to them.

[BUG] Incorrect maildir quota value after maildirsize creation
I found a problem with maildir++ quota. When dovecot creates maildirsize
file, it counts quota wrong. This is, how I reproduce a situation on
version 1.2.0:
First, I remove maildirsize file:

# rm -f maildirsize

maildirsize having incorrect content, how to recreate/correct?
Hi List,
I have (otherwise successfull) migrated a server from cyrus to dovecot
(Mac OS X Server 10.5.8 to 10.6.4 [dovecotd version to be
1.1.20apple0.5]).
There are ca. 300+ users of which a very small handfull (ca. 1 %) are
having reported a usage size that is very different to what 'du'
reports.
How can I rebuild the maildirsize and why might it be wrong in the
first place(?)

quota-warning: possible to have size also?
Hi,
I'am using a Maildir++ based quota setting which creates a maildirsize file in every Maildir. The first two lines of this file are the maximum quota in bytes then the actual consumption in bytes and number of messages, like so :
1073741824S
379317999 5169
This means this user has a quota of 1Gb and he is using ~ 379 Mb (you have to divide by 1024 to be more precise)

Odd/Incorrect Quota Reporting on Dovecot 1.2.4 & FreeBSD4
Hi,
Am seeing an odd problem on an old FreeBSD 4.11 box that I'm trying to
get courier off, and dovecot on. At the same time, I'm trying to put
some fairly simple quota support on, but getting very odd results.
I think it might be better described with the log below, but, the gist
of it is this:
I have set a 1GB quota, and I was getting intermittent reports on the
quota usage -

Dovecot + Vpopmail quota issues
I can't get dovecot to ignore a certain directory/namespace when
calculating quotas.
I am running dovecot 1.2.16 with vpopmail configured for quotas.
I use the dot (.) as my separator and my user structure is as follows:
../domain.com/user/Maildir for all the user directories
I also have for each user:
../domain.com/user/Maildir/Archive which is a symlink to a NFS

Conflict -> Dovecot + Maildrop (maildirsize)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I'm having some problems with quota from sql (maildir++) and dovecot +
maildrop.
I'm using maildrop for MDA and dovecot as IMAP server.
When an e-mail arrives, maildrop calculates the quota and updates the
'maildirsize' file. When i use dovecot (webmail, thunderbird) it updates
the 'maildirsize' too, overwriting it, but in a

1.1rc4 problem with maildir++ quota and POP3
Hi,
it looks like there is a bug (in dovecot or in my config) with quota on maildir
mailboxes when accessed via POP3.
The maildirsize is not created when not already present (even after a DELE +
QUIT command). The quota limit (the first line of maildirsize) is not updated
if values are not in sync with those in the database.
If maildirsize is present, DELE commands are correctly reported in

Quota ignore issue
Hi Timo,
ok, in my dovecot setup, I have a setting to ignore messages in the Spam
folder (I will put my dovecot -n at the end of the message), and a
strange thing appears to be happening.
If I do a quota recalc on an account, It creates the maildirsize file
correctly, without the contents of the Spam folder calculated into the
total used.
But, it looks like when a new spam email is delivered,

maildirsize quota counting locking account?

I've just straced a dovecot imap process and found one thread sitting
there doing hundreds and hundreds of maildirsize updates as follows:

maildirsize problem?
Hello all,
Recently I have received a few complaints from users that their quota
was being reported wrong. This seems to have started when I switched to
quota=maildir and ignore=Trash (did both at the same time). The main
reported problem is that maildirsize is not correctly updated when they
delete messages. My personal hypothesis is something like this:
- User moves to Trash

Maildirsize file isn't updated after doing POP
Hello,
I have a problem about updating Maildirsize file. It seems that the
Maildirsize file is not updated after user does POP mail from his maildir. I
do not want to use any quota limitation in Dovecot. I only want Dovevot to
update the Maildirsize file after user retrieves his mail. The Maildirsize
file is created by Postfix. Would it be possible to do like this? How can I
configure it?

GETQUOTAROOT (part 2)
Hello,
I'm a recent convert to dovecot from courier-imap and the
performance has certainly improved. I'm running the vanilla
1.0.7 version that came with the CentOS 5.2 x86_64 distro.
I've come across a similar problem that was posted by Ralf
Hildebrandt earlier this year under the same subject, but
that thread just seems to have died off. I'm also using per-
