Configuration Error
Hello, I am a newbie when it comes to Dovecot, and in following this ( http://workaround.org/articles/ispmail-etch/ ) document in setting these things up, I have run into an error that I am not quite certain what to do... I am running Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon, and using 1.0.5 for Dovecot. The message I am getting when I try to 'restart' Dovecot (using '/etc/init.d/dovecot restart') is:

Mac client
I'm trying to copy files to a Samba share that I have set up on a linux debian machine from a Mac running OS X, using samba 3.0.24. The Mac complains that there is something wrong with the file name, and then refuses to copy, and the operation leaves a zero-byte file with the same name on the samba share. It lets me log in nicely through the Mac File Finder. I've just spent a couple

Can Opus be used with a video-chat app?
Hi, I am not a developer, but a musician. Can Opus be used in combination with any existing video-chat app to provide much better quality for the musical instrument sound transmission? Many thanks, Rustem -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/opus/attachments/20170713/484472c2/attachment-0001.html>

alias_method_chain vs. redefined method with super
I''m trying to fully understand the subtleties of using alias_method_chain to refine method behavior versus redefining a method and calling super. I have a simple data model (a music collection) that I often use to evaluate web frameworks, and I''m trying to get it working on Rails 1.2.0RC1. Specifically, I have three classes which subclass a common Artist class: - Band

Vorbis decoder sample code
Hi, I'm a Pocket PC developer and have created a audio translator application on this platform. I currently make use of an MP3 decoder engine, but due to heavy licensing fees I'm thinking of switching over to a patent free format. Vorbis presents the best approach. I read that tremor decoder has been especially optimized for embedded devices. I'd like to make use of this and

deafening silence
if your talking id3v1, something along the lines of (in bash): for f in *.flac ; do tail -c 128 $f > tag && flac-0.8 -d $f ${f%*.flac}.wav && flac-0.9 -V ${f%*.flac}.wav $f && cat tag >> $f ; done should work. of course, test it before you set it loose on your whole collection. if you're on windows, my condolences... no wait, just get cygwin :) Josh ---

RE: Difference in Encoding of files on Pocket PCvis-à-vis desktop
Hello Jean-Marc, I encoded a 143 kb file on both the desktop as well as the Pocket PC using the default settings/ Here are the results. Size : Desktop - 17.6 Kb, Pocket PC -17.1 kb (not much difference in size) Now when I try to decode the file encoded on the Pocket PC, I get a message "This doesn't look like a Speex file". However, when I decode the Pocket PC encoded file on

messages downloading repeatedly to mozilla/seamonkey pop3 client
Hello Dovecot List, I am a bit of a sysadmin novice and this is my first time emailing, so please let me know if I have left some critical information out. I am supporting a small office network supported primarily by linux servers. All of my users are using dovecot as a pop3 daemon on a centOS 5 box, no IMAP users. Seven users are running outlook 2003 on windows XP, two users are running

Use of ogg vorbis for real time audio streaming?
Hi list! I am currently investigating the possibility of allowing musicians to collaborate over the internet -- Musician A -------> internet --------> Musician B This diagram obscures quite a lot of detail. In reality, the datapath would look more like this: Musician A ADC Compression algorithm UTP (or perhaps RTP?) IP ADSL the Internet ....<snip>..... Clearly, this link would

CD Baby using FLAC to archive 40,000 CDs
> Actually, I was more interested in how you set up the disk array. I think we just set up 3ware IDE raid cards with 200-gig drives, all on 1 PC for now (3/4 slots) and seems to work OK. No case would fit them so it's just sprawled out on a desk away from everything else with 4 power supplies powering the drives. When it's time to buy more disks then I'll have to set up a

A possible use for multichannel ogg files!
Hi, Has anyone thought about using the multichannel format as a way of distributing "musician minus one" files? Eh? I hear you ask. Ok. Basically these are multitrack files but you can mute the solo track so you, the musician, can practice against the other "players". You can buy CD's of this nature, but of course, the solo instrument is on one channel and the others on

Creating a .deb file
Hi, Does anyone have any appropriate debian control files so that I can create a .deb package for FLAC? I don't want to just compile it and overwrite in case it gets automatically overwritten by the Debian package management tools. Cheers Andy

[nbdkit PATCH 2/2] plugins/rust: restrict predicates-{tree, core} to {1.0.7, 1.0.5}
The beautiful world of uncontained dependencies: - We restrict mockall to 0.11.0, which in practice currently expands to 0.11.4, - mockall depends on predicates-tree, - predicates-tree depends on predicates-core, - approx. two weeks ago, predicates-tree and predicates-core have seen *PATCHLEVEL* upgrades (1.0.7 -> 1.0.9, and 1.0.5 -> 1.0.6, respectively) that now require

Error in compiling Speexdec code (Speex-1.1.5 code) on Windows usingVC++6.0
Hi Chris, Thanks a lot for your help. I've been able to resolve all the errors except one. I don't have ogg.h header file, so when I try to build Speexdec.exe, I get an error d:\speex\speex-1.1.5\src\speexdec.c(44) : fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'ogg/ogg.h': No such file or directory I don't have this file, but as I wrote in my previous mail, an ogg_static

sound library
I'm collaborating with and electronic musician to experiment on the production of music from number sequences. As I'm an R user I started playing around with the sound library and I found it very useful. However there are several things I do not understand (I'm not an expert in acustic nor audio signal treatment). The first thing I'd like to understand is: let s be a normalized
