IMAP to Maildir Migration preserving UIDs?
Hello all, I'm facing the need to migrate from a proprietary IMAP server to Dovecot. The migration must be as smooth and transparent as possible. The mailbox format I would want to use is Maildir++. The storage format used by the current server is unknown, and I don't look forward to trying to reverse-engineer it. This leaves me with the option of reading the mailboxes using IMAP.

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Thank you for the reply. I did find imapsync whilst perusing Google. I will give it a shot, it sounds more realistic/reliable. I have a hoard of emails going back to 1999, so I want as few errors as possible :) On 11/7/15 3:31 PM, Philon wrote: > Hi there, > > I was in the same position, but for mutliple accounts. Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hello, Because it did not work ? In a similar situation, we where forced to use isync/mbsync in imap to imap mode because dsync did not work. It was reported here more than a year ago (May 2014). Time to time, I see the same report from other trying to use dsync to do a migration to dovecot. Dsync is a very appealing and elegant solution to this usage, but it does not always work in real

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hi, No, I tried fetching over imapc too exactly as you suggested. In my case it was not from cyrus, but from CriticalPath. isync was finally able to do the job, preserving flags and doing UIDs mapping. The most boring part was generating proper config file for thousands of accounts. A working imapc/dsync would have been better. Emmanuel. Le 26/11/2015 15:24, Sami Ketola a ?crit : > Hi,

Imap proxy with tls?
Hello all, I have a server with dovecot installed with imap and tls working (call that the remote server). Now I want to have a few computers at the same place to access the same account on the remote server. I have another server (call this the local server) at the local site to do this with but am not sure how to do it. The proxy setup

dovecot as gmail imap proxy
hi, may be this is a bit of topic, but i hope not. it's always a big question which is the better to choose a hosting provider to keep and manage you mail or setup your own mail server, hosting, virus and spam filter etc.. now as more and more people and company move to gmail or google apps mail service it seems google can't handle the load and it's getting more and more slower.

IMAP Migration Tools
Hi, I am looking for tools to migrate Mails from one IMAP-Server to another. Until now I have always used imapsync, but it seems very slow. Even over a 2x10GB/s connection I only get speeds of about 600KiB/s, because the programm always pauses betweeen every single mail. Does anyone here have a suggestion for an alternative? Thanks in advance Julian

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
I have been attempting to use the cyrus2dovecot script, to no avail. I have many years of content that I want to convert from Cyrus to Dovecot; with the above not working, what are other options out there? Another idea I had is simply set up another IMAP server (using Dovecot) and drag-and-drop and just wait, which I may end up doing. In the above, I copied over my entire /var/imap and

offlineimap with dovecot: file-time is one hour in the future
I use offlineimap to sync my remote IMAP-server with my local IMAP-server (maildir format). But I don't understand this behavior: every new mail in the INBOX has a file-date which is one hour in the future. Is this 'normal'? Is this a problem of offlineimap? I tried this debugging (for dovecot): mail_executable = /usr/lib/dovecot/rawlog /usr/lib/dovecot/imap and this (for offlineimap):

Filtering spam in an offlineimap + dovecot setup
Hello, To easily access my mail both offline on my computer and on my phone, I am synchronizing a local copy on my computer using offlineimap. As the spam filtering options provided on the server are not sufficient, I am now looking into client-side spam filtering. My current setup is as follows. Mail is synchronized using offlineimap, and delivered to a local dovecot server:

dovcot+offlineimap+gmail: INBOX empty, mail doubled
Hello I have used for years offlineimap-6.2.0 dovecot-imapd 1:1.2.9 in Kubuntu 10.04 Together with a imap server of my university. Yesterday we switched to google, which I know, is not a real imap server. I have 2 problems and the first I think has to do with either an old version of offlineimap or a bad configuration file: - All folders are downloaded+ Gmail[All Mail] so doubling

Timeout during APPEND
Dear list, I am running dovecot 1.2.15 on a Debian server. One user reports continuous problems synchronising her mailbox via IMAP (offlineimap, via SSH tunnel or SSL socket). It seems that she has a large, locally-created message, but the uplink bandwidth seems to be not enough to push it before dovecot times out the APPEND command. The error/exception happens inside offlineimap's Python

Ask about IMAP UID
Hi all, I am new to dovecot. I am trying to use offlineimap + dovecot + gnus for some emails on multiple machines. I need to use org-mode capture links on emails. I want to know if the same email will have the same IMAP UID on different machines given that they are synced by offlineimap to a local maildir and served by dovecot respectively. message status changed from new to old on read
Hi. I'm new to IMAP, but just tried uw-imapd and then dovecot in conjuction with offlineimap. I'm using Debian package version 0.99.14-1 and have my mail in mbox format. One of the first things that annoys me about both programs is that as soon as you read a mailbox over imap, the imapd changes all "new" messages to "old". It seems to have the assumption that the

Maildir from offlineimap, INBOX folder created
Hi, I'm using dovecot to serve up a Maildir created/served by offlineimap. The layout is typical (as far as I know) of maildirs, with the root folder having cur, tmp, new, and subfolders being a folder within the root folder. Since I'd previously used Evolution to access this maildir, my subfolders were actual subfolders (separator /). Anyway, it all works spiffingly well, except that I

Dovecot LDA, Offlineimap and Sieve
Hi, I am trying to st up Offlineimap to use Dovecots LDA to be able to use Sieve for mail filtering, but am not sure how to get this working. I think the right way would be to use 'preauthtunnel' in .offlineimaprc and try the setup below, which doesn't work. ,----.offlineimaprc | [Repository LocalRepository] | type = IMAP | preauthtunnel = ssh -q localhost

I've recently migrated a server with imapsync with 150Gb of email and 200+ accounts. (slightly OT) syncing / migrating IMAP mailboxes
Hi! I fear this may be slightly off-topic but it's both related to IMAP and to dovecot: Is there any good and in paticular realiable program for synching / migrating one IMAP mailbox to another? The most important features for me is that a) no mails are lost / left out silently and b) the porgram is able to sync the complete mailbox including all folders without just giving up in the

Replication protocol design
I'll probably be implementing multi-master replication this summer. My previous thoughts about it are here: http://dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2007-December/027284.html Below is a description of how the replication protocol will probably work. It should work just as well for master-slave and multi-master setups. Comments welcome. I'll write later a separate mail about how it'll be
