Bug in fts (solr?, Maildir?) incorrect last_indexed_uid
Hi, I thought I should document this. (Dovecot 2.2.9, see config at bottom.) I installed dovecot and then converted a number of mbox mailboxes to Maildir, and had a number of pre-existing Maildir mailboxes. I then installed the debian (wheezy) fts-solar and jetty packages, and tested my inbox using the "telnet localhost imap ... 3 SEARCH text "test" method as described on the

Dovecot 2 LDAP "unknown user"
I finally managed to get this going but I have noticed in my case that: 1. I need to make sure the user logon name in AD and the samAccountname are exactly the same, case and all. It seems postfix uses the samAccountname and Dovecot the User logon name. 2. I also noticed that if the Display name for a user in AD is blank, that user cannot log in using telnet <server ip> 110. I am quite

sieve not working with Postfix and maildir
I am moving away from Cyrus, I'm trying to migrate to Dovecot. I am trying to get Sieve working with Dovecot and Postfix and it just won't work. Postfix is able to delived new messages to the "new" subfolder of the inbox structure. After I run Thunderbird, the new message gets moved to "cur" and it shows up in my inbox. So far so good. But now I'm trying to add

dovecot Maildir issue
I'm working on switching a domain from a Cyrus+postfix+procmail to Dovecot+postfix+procmail (using Maildir). It works great, except one small problem. I cannot figure out what the permissions for my Maildir directories should be. Can anyone point me to a doc or just a few pointers on what the permissions of the Maildirs should be? The only way I seem to be able to make this config work is to

how to create maildir on local mail delivery
Hi! I am using Dovecot 1.0.10 with LDA/postfix option reading user data from ldap, but the problem would be nonexistent maildir. Connection with ldap should be fine since reading proper maildir folder. Is it possible to auto creating maildir folders even on received mail since the you can auto create when user login with mail_executable scripts as it's seen from configuration I am doing

maildir locking and 'racing'
hello Timo, list, quick error-message question. A few of the accounts on my main mailserver are failing to log in with errors like this: dovecot: Mar 02 19:33:35 Error: imap(user at example.com): maildir_file_do(/var/lib/vpopmail/domains/example.com/user/Maildir) racing if I log in by telnet everything is fine, and from the source it looks like the error happens when dovecot fails to

hoping someone has a suggestion
Hi using dovecot 1.0.10 with pop/imap, using maildir, with 2000+ users mostly using pop but many using imap. Once in a great while I have problems with dovecot pop timing out. If I telnet to port 110 it just takes forever to come up or it doesn't at all, the samething happens on the imap port although 110 is always worst. At 1st when troubleshooting I was not sure what was causing the

POP3 Immediate Connection Termination
Hey everyone... Thanks in advance for any help. I seem to have the opposite problem that a lot of people have - I've been running Dovecot v. 1.0.10 quite successfully for IMAP for several months. However, one of our executives has her heart set on being able to get her mail via POP3. It looks to me like I have both configured, but when trying to log in via a POP3 or POP3s connection

dovecot - postgresql ERR No INBOX for user.
I've setup dovecot to authenticate against postgresql. But I consistently get a "No INBOX for user" error when I try to do pop requests. Any pointers would be helpful. Postfix deposits mails in maildirs in the format /var/spool/virtual_mailboxes/{domain}/{username}/ below is the result of a telnet test (altered slightly of course, but gives the idea) telnet localhost 110 Trying

getdents() with 4KB buffer - seems slow (Maildir, large inbox)
Hi, I have a very large inbox (~146K mails) in Maildir format and dovecot seems to spend a lot of time rescanning the directory, especially when the server is loaded. I'm not sure whether this is triggered by Thunderbird or done regularly, but it takes longer when the server is loaded, so sometimes it seems that it is scanning continuously. Since it takes around 2000 getdents64() syscalls to

Telnet access creates new maildir folders
Hi, I am running Dovecot Version 1.0.15on a Debian server, with postfix and postfixadmin. My mailbox base is /var/mail/vmail When I send an email to a user1 at domain.com for the first time, the user "mail" creates a set of dovecot folders under /var/mail/vmail/ user1 at domain.com/ and my new emails are found in /var/mail/vmail/ user1 at domain.com/new When I test my server using

dovecot freezes when trying to get mail from maildir with mail
I'm completely stumped by this problem and I've tried everything at present - including installing dovecot from scratch. The problem is that when trying to get email from the server -AND- there's email in the account, the pop3 or imap process freezes and no email is fetched. The crazy thing is, that it has been working perfectly, but suddenly I'm getting these freezes both

Moving Maildir files from multiple Dovecot installs
I currently have Dovecot running on a SuSE SLES 10 mail server with postfix as the MTA and a number of real linux users. I have postfix delivering to Maildir records. We are going to convert to a virtual user/domain system with PostfixAdmin. I have checked out all of our settings and they appear to work well except for a problem with authenticating against mySQL using MD5-Crypt; plaintext works

Moving dovecot/maildir to new host, dovecot.* files
Hello, I've done a fair amount of searching, and couldn't find a definitive answer. I am moving my dovecot/postfix servers and mail in Maildir formats to a new host. When I move the Maildir directories, what should I do with the dovecot.index/cache/log/etc. files? I know I can filter them out, and dovecot will recreate them, but is that the best approach? I am thinking of the following:

Maildir parent directory permissions incorrect for new mailbox
Hi, My issue is with the automatic creation of parent directories above new maildirs. It seems to be that they're being set with incorrect (or unhelpful) permissions, applying the permissions of the mailbox down the path towards the mailbox root, as opposed to taking the permissions of the mailbox root up towards the mailbox. Our mail is stored under the scheme: location =
