Convert plugin mbox to maildir has no effect
Convert plugin seems to have no effect with dovecot-1.0.rc26 and my settings. When a user log, maildir creation is successful, but no mbox conversion occur. New incoming mails are dropped into maildir, but I cant access those in Mbox file. I set the following in dovecot.con as describe on wiki. mail_location: maildir:/var/mail/Maildir/%u convert_mail: mbox:/var/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u Any

Index cache file problems in Dovecot 1.2.0
I've been seeing lots of index cache file errors (using mbox on Solaris 8 sparc 64-bit, but with 32-bit Dovecot) since I switched my account to Dovecot 1.2.0 (we're still on 1.0.15 mostly, but I'm hoping to upgrade to 1.1.17+ this summer, or 1.2.x if it's stable enough). e.g. Error: Corrupted index cache file <path>/.imap/INBOX/dovecot.index.cache: field index too large (47

dovecot-antispam: Failed to read mail beginning, Next message unexpectedly lost
Hello, I'm trying to configure the dovecot-antispam plugin. Now I've run into a problem: whenever I try to move/copy a message in/from the spam mailbox, Thunderbird (and also Sylpheed, haven't tried anything else) says: The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: Failed to read mail beginning. and in the logs I get: dovecot: Aug 07 10:41:23 Error:

Mails don't get deleted after POP3
Hi, there! Well, I am new to dovecot, so please be patient with me: I have a virtual server and want to setup simple mail delivery. postfix, saslauthd and dovecot basically work fine. The only open issue is, that (I guess) dovecot doesn't remove the mail when it's retrieved via pop3 from the server. It keeps sending me the same emails again and again. (The mail client (Thunderbird) is

pop3+leave messages on server
hi All, I have a srange problem. Before dovecot there was a courier imap and it worked just fine. The client(s) are the same then before, so I think, this is an server side problem. I have a user with Outlook and he uses pop3 and leaves messages on server. Sometimes the messages get downloaded again, when he starts the outlook. Not all, but 7-9 hours back. uidl format is like it's

expire-tool skipping mailbox
Hello, I have dovecot set up with expire-tool to nuke Junk messages greater than 30 days old. On a server with many user accounts, it seems to work on most of them. However, on my user account, expire-tool skips my Junk folder entirely, despite it containing messages from January of this year. Here is the expire-tool --test output: Info: alex at scienceforums.net/Junk: timestamp 1284027481 (Thu

imap flags - \* - dovecot 1.1.{8,9}
Isn't \* supposed to be (almost always) in flags after "SELECT" command in dovecot imap? Isn't \* meaning is "you can store any new flag" ? 20 select INBOX * FLAGS (\Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Seen \Draft) * OK [PERMANENTFLAGS (\Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Seen \Draft)] Flags permitted. so no \* ... convert_mail ?
I can't find much documentation on the convert_mail plugin. For example, on the wiki plugins page, clicking on convert goes to <http://wiki.dovecot.org/InterWiki> which is not relevant. Can I use convert_mail to migrate from UW IMAP 2002 mbox format where some mail is in ~/ and the inboxes are in /var/spool/mail? Will it know which files are mbox folders, so it doesn't try to

Keep the email on the server
Hello, I migrate my server POP3/IMAP recently the Courier-IMAP for Dovecot and am having problems when the user configures your e-mail client to leave a copy of mail on the server. All mail in the inbox, are brought all the time that you check your mailbox input via POP3, causing a large traffic of unnecessary data every time. In my opinion you should bring only the new mail, unread. Can you

ACLs - creating new top level folders
Hi, I'm wondering, whether it's possible, to define an ACL on the mailbox itself. We use Dovecot 1.2.15 (included in Debian 6) and maildir filesystem layout: /home/mail01/user1/Maildir/new \ /home/mail01/user1/Maildir/cur Inbox /home/mail01/user1/Maildir/tmp / /home/mail01/user1/Maildir/.folder1/new \ /home/mail01/user1/Maildir/.folder1/cur folder1

used_file_size too large
Hi. Just got this error (1.1.rc4), is it something to worry about? Corrupted index cache file /.../Maildir/.Sent/dovecot.index.cache: used_file_size too large This is a shared mailbox with concurrent access. In general, can that usage pattern mess up the index? I am guessing "no", which is why I worry slightly about the warning. Cheers, Anders.

cram-md5 problem
I just updated to dovecot 1.1.10 from 1.1.2 and now anyone using cram-md5 can't get authenticated. I am using mysql for passwords (in plain text) and home directories. Per some googling I tried to set (in /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf): # SQL database userdb sql { # Path for SQL configuration file, see doc/dovecot-sql.conf for example args = /usr/local/etc/dovecot-sql.conf

mail looping
We are running Postfix 2.3.3 and Dovecot 1.0-RC27 on a Solaris 10 server. We use the Dovecot LDA for local delivery. Problems arise with looping mail whenever a user's .forward contains a reference to themselves. This most frequently occurs when a user sets up a vacation since it then puts this in their .forward file: \username, "|/usr/bin/vacation username" The vacation program

Expire plugin with Mysql
Hey guys, got a question about the expire plugin. According to the wiki, the expire plugin "keeps an internal database (Berkeley DB or SQL)". I was wondering what fields in the mysql table are needed for expire to work. I assume it is setup is similar to the quota dict setup, so was just wondering what fields are required (i.e: select_field, where_field, username_field, for quota).

Virtual Alias Forwarding
I'm having a problem with Dovecot and forwarding of aliases. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm using Postfix, Mysql, dovecot, amavis. mysql> SELECT * FROM alias; | address | goto | domain | created | modified | active | It seems from the logs that incoming mail is being delivered to the mailbox via dovecot. Mail gets to the correct mailbox (address field), however, if I

Convert plugin
convert_mail = mbox:%h/mail Convert plugin. If set, specifies the source storage path which is converted to destination storage (mail_location) when the user logs in. The existing mail directory is renamed to <dir>-converted. I'm not entirely clear on what this does. If someone can clarify for me, I'll update the Wiki. I'm hoping it'll allow me to convert

1.1 master auth not expanding static userdb variables
Can dovecot-1.1 deliver work with static userdb? I'm currently running dovecot-1.0.12 and postfix-2.4.6, with virtual users' maildirs all owned by vmail and mail_location = maildir:/var/mail/%Lu. The following definition of the dovecot transport in postfix/master.conf works fine with dovecot-1.0: dovecot unix - n n - 1 pipe flags=DRh
