Can't mount dir as read/write
Hi. Trying to mount a Win2k drive as read/write, but when it gets mounted I can't actually write to the drive. Command I'm using is: su -c "mount -t smbfs //nbgwu5/upload /home/darose/mnt/nbgwu5 -o rw,username=crosen, password=*****,workgroup=demo" Result of the mount is: //nbgwu5/upload on /home/darose/mnt/nbgwu5 type smbfs (0) I can read from the drive, but not write to

File Changes and IDLE
Hi Timo and all, I used to use Dovecot back in the 0.99 days a couple of years ago, had since moved to Courier IMAP, but with the release of Dovecot 1.0.0, I'm looking at moving back! One thing I currently have set up and working with Courier is the use of the enhanced IDLE mode, whereby Courier uses FAM (File Alteration Monitor) to monitor changes in the INBOX, and sends the details to

debian unstable : mutt polling imap mailboxes
Package: dovecot Version: 0.99.10.4-2 I am accessing my IMAP folder on my ~/Maildir using mutt via Dovecot and I have this problem whereby mutt incorrectly reports I have new mail in a "mailboxes" polled mailbox. This happens all the time when I press the key bound to change mailbox. I use courier IMAP at school, and I have not experienced this problem. A bug with dovecot or mutt?

Quota and Trash
Hi, I finally got a grip on our mail guys to try out Dovecot after they started migrating a ~15k user mailsystem to Maildir+NFS (Netapp)+Courier and the performance was not as good as expected. So far the results are impressive, although there are of course a few small issues to be solved. One is the current Quota handling, which they use with Courier IMAP and (still) think it needs to be

Deleted email does not appear in the Trash folder
Hi all I seem to have this problem whereby if I delete an email, then the deleted email does not appear in the Trash folder. I tried setting dovecot mail_debug = yes, but I find in syslog, mail.log etc that there is very limited information. If anyone could assit, I would be most greatful. Kind Regards Brent Clark P.s. I use Thunderbird as the mail client

auto expunge trash
Hello, Can this be done? configurable number of days? Like to move from courier, but this is the only thing we really need to convince us to change, it is no good telling users to periodically delete trash, they never listen :) Quey

auto move of purged mail to trash
I am moving a courier installation over to Dovecot and I am wondering if there is a way to set Dovecot to automatically move purged items to trash (under IMAP). Additionally, is there a way to automatically delete old items from a Trash folder? -David

automaticly move expunded emails to trash Folder
Hi I try to migrate from courier to Dovecot. Is there a way to get the same behaviour of Courier-imap with dovecot, about expunged emails ? I though about using the Lazy-Expunge plugin. The problem with this plugin is the following: messages are moved and set to be deleted in the Trash Folder. I would like they weren't set to be deleted. Is there a way to mitigate the behaviour of this

replacement for IMAP_EMPTYTRASH=Trash:7
While running dovecot on debian etch using version 1.0.rc15-2etch3, i wonder the following: If i read the config files correctly, dovecot seems to have no equivalent of courier's IMAP_EMPTYTRASH=Trash:7 setting. Therefore, i wrote a script that dives into the user's directories and their maildirs. It looks like this: ============================================= #!/bin/bash for pad1

Painless migration from 2.2.x on old server to 3.0.x on new server needed ASAP
I need to painlessly migrate on old Samba 2.2.x installation to a new server running 3.0.x (3.0.14a for now). Time is of the essence as a hardware problem is causing intermittent operation of the old server that seems to be getting worse (actually it is looking doubtful that it will be back up at this point). I do have a backup of the smb.conf, the Samba .tdb files, /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow.

How do I move delete messages to Trash?
I've recently replaced courier-imap with dovecot - mainly for performance benefits. All of my users in the office use Outlook Express. It appears that dovecot has no facility to move deleted messages to a Trash folder - where they can be removed after a specified time with a cronjob. Other mail clients seem to have an option to specify a Trash folder. I see that there's a

Periodic cleanup of Trash
Hi dovecot developers, Is there any plan to have a plugin which deletes old messages from certain folders at login time? I am thinking along the lines of the automatic removal of old messages from say, the Trash folder. This functionality exists in courier-imap and cyrus imap, and would be very handy to have in dovecot too. -- Anand

Safe/preferred way to import old email
Ive migrated from a qmail+Courier-IMAP setup to a Postfix+Dovecot setup. I'm using maildirs in both places. Is there a safe/preferred way to bring my old messages over without them being marked as new in Dovecot ? -- Aj.
