osx packages?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello list, I've used Nut at a couple of sites, but all of them being Linux, Linux and Linux ;-) Now there's a new situation, with an MGE UPS having to interface to an OS-X PPC server (I'm guessing a 10.3.x version, more information follows) and a Linux server (running Ubuntu Dapper). The best I can think of is to have the Linux server

browselist showing up late
Hello all, I'm having the following problem. I have a Win95 PC in a WAN, and a Linux WINS. For the local subnets there's no problem, but the WINS seems to react very slowly for the WAN pc. - both WINS and win95 have the same workgroup; the workgroup is not in any computer name (as far as I know and can see) - ICMP echo about a 35 msec reply tcpdump shows a couple of 137 < - > 137

disconnect with various codecs
Hello list, I'm pretty new to Asterisk, but so far I managed to setup the server, added a couple of mISDN channels (one TE, one NT), connected to a VOIP provider and called out to the World :) Now I started to play with codecs because I wanted to try the sound quality of each of them, and something weird happens. My setup is to check one codec at a time, so I disallow all, then allow one.

Revisiting slow explorer.exe connections
Hi: I recently encountered a problem reading directories via an XP Pro client shared from a samba server (redhat's rpm samba-2.2.7-5.8.0). File listing was sometimes VERRRY slow. It was not a DNS issue in this case. The symptoms, and my fix is below, but I wanted to ask, is there a way to deal with this from the server? (I dunno- like redirecting port 80 or something). >From the client,

By very few users the Samba log files get clogged with access_denied messages at open_fake_file_shared every 15 minutes: smbd/fake_file.c:open_fake_file(114) open_fake_file_shared: access_denied to service[<aShare>] file[$Extend/$Quota:$Q:$INDEX_ALLOCATION] user[<aUser>] open_fake_file fails with this error if the

Hai, ... man smb.conf .... Have you tried that, that should work ;-) . There you should see something like this. [Global] map to guest = Bad Password [ashare] path = /home/public/share read only = yes guest ok = yes Look it up in the manual to see these settings explained, and dont forget to set the correct rights on the shared path. Samba 3.0.13 and deleting files
I haven't seen a solution yet, but here's what I'm running into: 3.0.13 with Winbind on Redhat Enterprise Linux 3, compiled with --with-pam as well as attempts with that and --with-acl-support - note that though the samba server is a member of a 2003 AD but not using "net ads" but "net rpc", everything works as desired on 3.0.11 (which I went back to to get this

Cannot access HOME folder after upgrading to 4.8 from 4.6
Hello- I upgraded Samba from 4.6 to 4.8 on a FreeBSD 11.2 server. After the upgrade, users cannot access the HOME folder share but they can access other shares just fine. I am using the RID backend on this member server that connects to Windows-based domain controllers. I apologize for the lengthy smb4.conf but here it is: #======================= Global Settings

Autoaccept all authentications to mitigate disabled guest logins in Windows 10 build 1709
Hai, Already tried the bad user option. Samba still answers the client that guest mode is to be used, but here is the problem. Windows 10 forbids guest mode now because of Security concerns! I need a way for Samba to accept the challenge response answer regardless of the user so Windows believes it was authenticated. Any hack no matter how dirty is greatly appreciated. Greetings, Daniel Migowski

vfs readahead && windows server 2016/2019?
Hi Jeremy, thank you for your very helpful response. We're looking at a few more options. Would you have the time to provide some guidance on these, how helpful they may be? - *aio ** -> https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/current/man-html/smb.conf.5.html#AIOREADSIZE - *write cache* -> https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/current/man-html/smb.conf.5.html#WRITECACHESIZE -

(Fwd) vfs_recycle and create mode 770
I'd like to use the recycle as a per machine recycler using the option 'name = .recycle/%m' (because we just use some usernames without passwords, and not because of the adminstrators abilties, but for a better workflow with a lot of different projects and people working on them.) But if a directory is created the vfs recycle uses the rights 700, and i have found no way around it
