Apache mod_proxy to mongrel
Hi Guys, I know this is slightly off topic, but it''d be great to get some feedback from anyone who''s using mod_proxy on Apache 2.2 to redircet to a rails app on mongrel. Everything has been running fine generally but a few days back we started getting a gap in the performance between the Apache port and the mongrel port. accessing through port 80 was averaging ten times longer

I know this question gets asked a lot but I can''t seem to find the answer when I search through the mailing list. First off here''s my set up. Cent OS 4.3 Apache 2.0 Fast CGI 2.4.0 Rails 1.1 Mysql 5.0 The app starts up fine, but every morning it refuses to start and gives me the dreaded Application error untill I reload Apache. I thought my database was timing out so I added

memory issues -- mongrel part of the problem?
Hi. I''m a fairly new mongrel user and have a scenario that I wanted to run by you all, see if anyone''s synapses connect -- mine def. aren''t! I''m running a fairly simple rails app through a mongrel cluster (2 mongrels). This site is consistently sloooow -- memory on the server is regularly paging (and shouldn''t be). ssh-ing in and running top shows

broken pipe in perl agi
Hi gang, Since I'm getting no joy from device_Status or SIPPEER in 1.4.26-rc1, I thought I would do an AGI to read my hints and check for line in use that way. The AGI works fine from a prompt, but returns the dreaded "utils.c:966 ast_carefulwrite: write() returned error: Broken pipe" when I try to run it from the dialplan. Here is my dialplan snippet;

Label Helpers
Don''t know whether this has been discussed for the core, or if anyone has seen a plugin. Can anyone think of a reason why the form helpers don''t produce corresponding labels? ...... Take the following example.... <label for="hotel_content_airportlocal" class="inputLabel">Name of Local airport</label> <%= text_field

Mongrel Web Server 0.3.11 -- Edge Rails and Win32 Compliant
Hello Folks, This is the big release of Mongrel that''s been in the works for a while now (well, like a week). It is chock full of changes and features, but mostly it syncs up the Win32 side of things, and validates that Edge Rails works without problems. It also features a more extensive and useful example of the GemPlugins called mongrel_config. First the usual stuff for people

Fragment Caching
Hello. I wouldn''t mind getting some feedback about the use of fragment caching. I''ve got a series of relatively expensive database queries with their respective partials cached and everything is working fine. The problem is that do get this to work I''ve had to move the database queries from the controller into the view layer so as to avoid them being called if the

Mongrel Web Server 0.3.11 -- Edge Rails and Win32Compliant
I don''t think there''s a way to do that other than using a proxy (ISAPI_REWRITE) or just a server-side redirect. I''d love to be proven wrong though. -----Original Message----- From: rails-bounces@lists.rubyonrails.org [mailto:rails-bounces@lists.rubyonrails.org] On Behalf Of frazer horn Sent: Wednesday, March 15, 2006 9:13 AM To: rails@lists.rubyonrails.org Subject:

Mongrel 0.3.6 -- Win32 Service/Rails Real Good
Hello Folks, This release of Mongrel should make the win32 folks go crazy. Thanks to Luis Lavena it supports a full service system for installing any Rails app as a service. This lets you start your rails apps from either the command line or the Service console. Stopping is still a bit problematic but we hope to have that solved in the next release. You win32 folks should probably send Luis

Input/output error on linux
Hi, I''m trying to use mongrel 0.3.13 with Rail 1.0 Believe it or not, on OS/X it works well for weeks at a time. On linux I''m getting Input/output errors after anything from a few hours to days, never more than a week. Once they start they don''t stop. The only pattern I''ve seen is that it always (seems) to happen while rendering an rhtml file.

Broken win32 service support for lastest mongrels.
Ok, this might sound bad... well, actually it is. I''m my rewrite of mongrel_rails_service and provide a uniform set of commands in the line of gem_plugin commands, found a few issues while stopping the service. Thinking that rails (1.1.2) was responsable, tested against my 1.0.0 rails app, both with the same results. Again, reverted to mongrel 0.3.8, when services was working ok, with

Upgrading to 1.1 causes MySQL Lost Connections under WinXP
Ok so I updated my rails to version 1.1 and now all of a sudden I keep getting the dreaded "Mysql::Error: Lost connection to MySQL server during query: SHOW FIELDS FROM ..." I''ve read all the stuff on the net, but none of it is working. I tried installing the mysql.so like suggested here: http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/rails/pages/HowToUseMySQLRubyBindingsOnWin32/ That sort

Mongrel 0.3.13.4 headers seem a bit broken...
I''m running a Rails (r4720) app on OS X 10.4.6. Mongrel 0.3.13.3 works perfectly for me. Mongrel 0.3.13.4, not so much. Redirects don''t work, for one thing. This rails code : redirect_to :action => ''login'' correctly redirects me on 0.3.13.3. Here''s the header I get back : HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily Content-Length: 93 Connection: close

"Broken pipe" and "no such file to load -- irb"
I just switched my rails app, which I had previously been running on my pc, to my linux server and have decided to use mongrel. However, since doing so I get an error when I first access the app saying "no such file to load -- irb". After I refresh this error goes away, but I keep getting the following errors in my logs, and I''ve noticed that certains things, like sessions and

--user and --group switch broken in TRUNK
It seems that a recent code cleanup broke --user and --group switch in the trunk. Mongrel essentially ignores these commands. This applies to everyone who has installed gem install mongrel --source=http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/releases/ recently. I have attached a patch to revert to some old working code. best regards, kaspar -------------- next part -------------- An embedded and

Mongrel 0.3.3 -- Bug Fix
Hey Folks, This is a quick release that fixes a major bug. I forgot to require the timeout library properly in mongrel.rb so people using Mongrel outside of Rails would see pauses. 0.3.3 fixes this all up. The 0.3.3 release also has a small change to the examples/simpletest.rb file with some gzip response using Ruby''s zlib support. Curious what people think about this and whether it
