Sieve fileinto and year/month folders.
Hi there,
I am trying to move from lmtpd (lmtpd.sf.net) to dovecot sieve.
One thing used by some of powerusers are archiving mail automatically
with autocreated folders based on year + month.
Is there any good way to make that with sieve...
One example
require "fileinto";
if address :is ["From", "To"] "dovecot at dovecot.org" {

Obtaining the chroot-cage directory of the mailstore
Hello,
I'd like to find a function in the sourcecode which enables me to get the chroot-path of the mailstore, so I can concatenate it with the result of mail_storage_get_mailbox_path to get the full path of a mailbox within the filesystem.
Does such a function exist? Who can help me?
Thanks in advance.

Outlook Express Mailstore on Samba share
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi list,
last Thursday I upgraded a samba installation from 2.2.12 to 3.0.14a.
Everything went fine with the debian packages. But...
All roaming profiles are registry hacked to place the OE mailstore onto
the home drive and this worked fine for the last two years. Now after
the upgrade all of my users complain about corrupt dbx files. Can anyone

Auto-duplicate mailstore?
I am looking for something that is similar to replication, but without a second server. I currently have a system setup using postfix bcc to write out copies of all email, but what I would rather do is just have all the mail written to /usr/local/virtual/%u/Maildir and also to /backup/usr/local/virtual/%u/Maildir (for example) as this will make restoring messages much simpler.

Reading the archives I see messages from a long (years) time ago
discussing pluggable mailstores. No recent news, though.
Any progress?. Current status?

Dovecot mailstore performance tuning
HI All,
We have a couple of dovecot director proxies and six backed mailstores
each accessing mailboxes stored on five NFSv4 filsystems with about
1TB of mail on each in maildir format.? We have about 800 max users
on each mailstore at peak times and performance appears to starting to
degrade at these times.? The mailstores are pretty recent hardware
with 64GB of RAM and 24 cores.?? The NFS

key -> object mailstore
Hi,
I was wondering what would be entailed in modifying dovecot 2.2 to
support storing mail in an object store. I've seen a few mails dotted
around in the ML history about supporting such a thing and seen it's
basically dependant upon some changes in lib-storage to support
writing messages without locking. Is this still the case?

Dovecot + DRBD/GFS mailstore
Hi guys,
I'm looking at the possibility of running a pair of servers with
Dovecot LDA/imap/pop3 using internal drives with DRBD and GFS (or
other clustered FS) for the mail storage and ext3 for the root drive.
I'm currently using maildrop for delivery and Dovecot imap/pop3 with
the stores over NFS. I'm looking for better performance but still
keeping the HA element I have now with

NFS problem?
Hi,
I noticed that my 4.8R box seems to have a NFS problem.
I use a FreeBSD/i386 4.8R box as a NFS server, and
a FreeBSD/i386 5-CURRENT (as of today) as the NFS client.
On the client, /a (on the server) can be mounted successfully
with -o rw,bg,intr, mntudp options. However, when a large amount
of write operations such as "cp -r /home/ncvs /a" are performed
on the client, the

UW-IMAP -> Dovecot : patch to remove nasty "internal messages" from UW-IMAP ?
Hello there,
We want to move from UW-IMAP to Dovecot (mbox format), works like a
charm, but UW-IMAP has that bloody habbit to make a stupid message in
all his mailbox files :

Dovecot 1.1.4 / Maildir++ quota and move to trash
Hello,
Seems there is some nasty problems with Dovecot 1.1.4...
We use Maildir++ quota, and when moving mail to Trash, Dovecot just
drop the connection... when the maildir is overquota.
Is there any way to avoid that and just move the mail to the trash
allowing user to expunge their mail easily without calling support to
do rm -rf Maildir/cur ?
Thanks,
/Xavier

nfs_flush_fcntl failed: No locks available
Hi there,
I've been seeing this error in our logs quite frequently on our nfs
storage (v3):
2008-11-10T13:24:26+00:00 mail8 dovecot: IMAP(XXX at YYY.com):
nfs_flush_fcntl: fcntl(/var/spool/mail/XXX/Maildir/dovecot.index.cache,
F_RDLCK) failed: No locks available
Which is because we don't run lockd on our servers. Why is dovecot
trying to use fcntl() ? I explicitly set it to use dotlocks

Stale NFS file handle and duplicated messages
We recently moved all our users from the Washington IMAP server to
Dovecot. There has been a substantial improvement in performance, but
some users are reporting duplicate messages, and we see 'Stale NFS file
handle' errors in the syslog. Does anyone know what would cause this ?
The errors relate to the index file, eg.

automaticaly added as subscribed folder...
I really dunno about IMAP rfc or standard, I

Dovecot NFS Indexes and IMAP Migration
Hi there,
After being extremely impressed from implementing it in some customer
installations, I've decided to migrate our mail infrastructure to dovecot.
Being able to have /bin/checkpassword support across the board for pop,
imap, and smtp authentication, as well as being able to ditch stunnel for
the SSL layer...where were you in 2001?!? :)
I have two concerns, the first is about the
