lda sieve broken after upgrade
upgraded to rc19. using maildirs. solaris 9/cc. removed all modules from pop/imap/lda subdirs and first upgraded dovecot to rc19 and then used dovecot-sieve-1.0.1 sources to build against the dovecot source directory ( everything now builds nicely on Solaris, thank you Timo ). added "cmusieve" to the list of plugins used by lda. ail_plugins = cmusieve now getting this:

Studying dovecot source code (searching for mail_deliver_hook_set)
Hello dovecot, I would like to study how dovecot manages quota, especially how it deals with the maildirsize file if one chooses to implement quota according to the maildir++ specification. I made a number of assumptions : 1. mail is (always/sometimes) delivered with the dovecot-lda binary, which source code is in src/lda. 2. mail is sent with the mail_deliver function which is called from

Dovecot-lda/deliver - how to deliver root's mail?
There's a good chance I could be missing something obvious here, as I can't find much documentation on the LDA other than on the wiki, which is sparse. Local mail delivery works for normal users, but when attempting to deliver mail for root I get this error: Jan 30 13:42:50 apollo deliver: Running as root isn't permitted Both sendmail and dovecot run as root on my server -

deliver LDA status?
Hello dovecot, wiki mentions `deliver', but it doesn't include into 1.0.beta8 dovecot distribution. It can be downlaoded from CVS, and even contains two tags on files, that seems to eb release tags :) But what is official status of `deliver' tool? Is it stable, or experemental, or what? Are here any plans when it will be packaged ad announced? -- Best regards, Lev

Sendmail and Dovecot deliver (dovecot-lda)
Hi, I have a Centos 5 system with sendmail running as my MTA. Normally I note from sendmail logs that mails get delivered using the 'local' mailer. I have therefore entered the following into my sendmail.mc file, from an earlier post on this list: define(`LOCAL_MAILER_PATH',`/usr/libexec/dovecot/deliver') define(`LOCAL_MAILER_FLAGS',`DFMPhfnu9')

How to make dovecot-lda/deliver mark a message as seen
Hello everybody, I am using dovecot 2.0.13 and have a special case here in which I want a mail that is delivered locally with dovecot-lda to be marked as "seen". In dovecot 1.1.7 I succeeded to achive this, by modifing deliver.c so that upon adding a -S switch to the command arguments, the flag MAIL_SEEN was added to the call of mailbox_copy(). This seemed to work pretty good.

Problems with deliver (LDA)
Hi, I'm using Dovecot's (1.0.rc2) 'deliver' (no sieve) as LDA - calling it from a .qmail file. It seems that 'deliver' destroys "message/rfc822" attachments (forward as attachment). My .qmail file looks like this, and use qmail to deliver a copy directly to my Maildir, and 'deliver' to deliver a second copy of the same message to the same Maildir: %

lda deliver + vpopmail
Hi all, I'm enjoying using dovecot deliver with qmail+vpopmail+dspam. It works mostly fine, I like the indexing and sieve features with dovecot deliver. I would like to get more details on trouble, the log entry is just : " 2009-11-18_20:38:55.64778 delivery 50833: deferral: " As you see, there no reason for the deferral. How can I make deliver more verbose ? I also have a

Deliver/LDA, no data in the logs, even with debug set (dovecot + qmail-ldap), and sieve issue
Hi, I am trying to integrate sieve with qmail-ldap. I can't get it to work, and deliver isn't logging anything to the log files (or syslog, if selected). Hence I have got no way to diagnose the problem. Any help appreciated. *root at debtwo:~# dovecot --version* 1.2.13 *root at debtwo:~# dovecot -n* # 1.2.13: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux 2.6.32-3-686 i686 Debian squeeze/sid

lda deliver per instance sieve configuration
I'd like to override the sieve settings in dovecot.conf for a deliver instance that is being run from a custom archiving script. This is dovecot 1.0.15 on debian lenny. Is this possible? Doesn't appear to be looking through the WIKI. If it's not any suggestions? The problem is the user specific sieve scripts override where the archived mail is supposed to be stored

dovecot-lda won't cause mail to be filtered by sieve
Hi I'm changing from fetchmail to getmail, in order to fetch my mail from several mail servers and deliver it to my local dovecot server. Fetchmail supports LMTP, getmail doesn't. So I'm making getmail call dovecot-lda for delivering the mail. But now, the incoming mail doesn't get filtered through sieve any longer. However, this command works: sieve-filter -v -u v

Can the LDA deliver email marked as read?
Hello, One of my users wants to be able to deliver email (e.g. via a procmail script) and mark it *read* when it's delivered. We use Maildir as our mail storage format. I have a bit of a hack script put together that will do it by directly manipulating the Maildir (it delivers the email using safecat, and then renames the file into the "cur" directory with the necessary flags

deliver vs lda
deliver is the binary name. but it's configured inside protocol lda {} section. This is getting annoying, any thoughts on what would be a good unifying name? a) deliver binary, protocol deliver {} b) lda binary, protocol lda {} c) dovecot-lda binary, protocol lda {} d) mda binary, protocol mda {} e) dovecot-mda binary, protocol mda {} f) something else? In any case protocol lda {} would

mailing lists and Dovecot deliver (lda)
I'm trying to figure out a way, or if it is even possible, to use mailing list software (majordomo2) on a Postfix + Dovecot + virtual mailboxes system. And where I should be looking. The examples on the Postfix site don't seem to address a purely virtual mailboxes system and I haven't found anything about doing it with deliver. I think I'm at the wrong tree (Dovecot deliver)

Sendmail and deliver LDA exits with EX_TEMPFAIL on overquota
Hi all, I have setup dovecot 1.1.4 and sendmail 8.14.3 with dovecot LDA on linux (RHEL5 on x86_64). I have deliberately set a very low quota (4MB) on a test account, while the actual disk usage is 5MB at the moment, in order to test overquota behaviour.. When I send an email to this account, sendmail accepts the email and tries to deliver it. Deliver fails to save in INBOX and returns an

Deliver mail as 'read'?
I'd like to be able to deliver certain mail as 'read' from procmail. My procmail rules call deliver with -m to directly to inject filtered mail to maildir based directories. I like to keep copies of mail I've sent by cc'ing it to myself and using procmail to filter and store copies in the appropriate directory. I cannot seem to find a way of delivering cc'd mail from

Unable to get Dovecot LDA/deliver working
I want to setup Dovecot LDA, but I don't understand what I'm doing anymore. I have to note that I'm a Linux beginner. I've been trying now for several months and I'm about to give up. Till so far I'm having no result. :-( My current setup is done as described at http://www.linuxmail.info. We use Postfix 2.3.3 (with Postgrey, Spamassassin and ClamAV), Dovecot 1.2.11 and
