PATCH: compile dovecot-1.1.beta14 with gcc 2.95
Hi, I patched dovecot-1.1.beta14 to compile under gcc 2.95. __builtin_expect and __attribute__((malloc)) are only available since gcc 3.0, and __builtin_types_compatible_p since 3.1. Also the flexible array members (char a[]) are not available for gcc 2.95. So I replaced them with zero-extent arrays (char a[0]), which should also work, but that is gcc specific. A general pointer (char* a) should

Crash of 1.0rc7
Hi, I pasted the logs in #dovecot already, but maybe someone here has a little bit more insight. I'm running dovecot cvs branch_1_0 from Sep. 16th. Dovecot is doing LDAP userdb/passdb and I'm using deliver for local deliveries. Today my users complained about not being able to login anymore. I opened ssh to that box and found the following messages Sep 20 15:58:03 vs02 dovecot:

Imap assertion (dovecot-1.1.beta13)
Hi, I continue testing the beta versions and have seen a great improvement over the last few ones. On beta13 I'm seeing the following assert on some client folders: file index-mail.c: line 759 (index_mail_stream_destroy_callback): assertion failed: (mail->data.destroying_stream) If you need I can try and reproduce this in a more controled environment to pinpoint the problem. Thanks, --

maildirsize quota does not referred after migration from courier
Dear All, We would like to migrate our existing courier to dovecot. After reading document on website and doing some tests, here are some issues we met. 1. According the the wiki, it seems to imply that once migrating from courier to dovecot, pop3 users may "lost/forget" their download "index/ history" which cause them to download again old mails that are kept on

rsync does not listen on ipv4 ports in daemon mode
On OpenBSD 2.8 when i start rsync with: # rsync --daemon the daemon doesn't bind to the ipv4 tcp port instead it only listens to the ipv6 port. The daemon works properly using the same argument on linux. Any help would be greatly appreciated. # netstat -la Active Internet connections (including servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address (state) tcp 0

sem: negative parameter variances
Dear Spencer and Prof. Fox, Thank you for your replies. I'll very appreciate, if you have any ideas concerning the problem described below. First, I'd like to describe the model in brief. In general I consider a model with three equations. First one is for annual GRP growth - in general it looks like: 1) GRP growth per capita = G(investment, migration, initial GRP per

using tinc in a mixed ipv4/ipv6 network
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I'm using tinc to connect a couple of ipv6 capable machines using a mix of upd6, udp4, tcp6 and tcp4. Now I wanted to add an linux embedded device, which has no ipv6 support at all. Tinc did compile and configuration is fine (tested on other machine), but after connecting the embedded device to other hosts tinc instances, it suddenly crashes.

IPv4/v6 socket problem on BSD
Currently, if IPv6-enabled rsync is run as --daemon, it will perform a wildcard bind(2) on an AF_INET6 socket and expect that IPv4 traffic will be forwarded to the v6 socket (IPv4 mapped address, RFC2553). This has never worked on OpenBSD which disallows IPv4 mapped addresses for security reasons. On FreeBSD 5.0-CURRENT, where the behavior is subject to configuration, the default was switched to

No ports 445/139 & smbclient shows NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED
Hi all, I'm maintaining a small AD system on a computer called "ad" in our small charity, and it has been working fine for a year or so. However, "ad" is very rickety so we got a proper server purchased and now I'm trying to move the AD system over.  I've set up the new server called "org-ad" with Debian 9 and followed the instructions here

Samba4 Auto-start
Hello all, I'll cut to the chase -- several weeks ago, I thought I had an upstart configuration file that would start Samba4 when the VM was turned on; but it turns out I was wrong. At the time there was nothing on the wiki about it (the links were broken). The script I thought was working was simply: start on runlevel [2345] exec /usr/local/samba/sbin/samba In any case, looking at the
