Public Namespace & ACL & Virtual Users
Background: I am wanting to create shared folders (public namespace) with access control lists on the sub directories. Our implementation of dovecot (v1.0b7) uses many virtual users and domains and 1 actual user (vmail), all using maildir. So far I have successfully created the public namespace (Public_Folders) which every user can access but I'm having difficulty restricting access using

Cannot delete subfolder in public folder
Hi there, I have the problem that I'm unable to delete a subfolder (again) I created within a public folder. I've already read about configuring Thunderbird to delete immediately - which I did. But it still doesn't work. I delete -> the folder is gone -> I get a TB error message saying "The folder doesn't exist" -> after restarting TB the folders appear again.

Public namespaces with global ACLs 1.2+
Hi, I'm having trouble to get ACLs working in a more restrictive way with namespaces. I would like to grant certain users the ability to create new mailboxes in a public namespace e.g. "Public/Newsletters" etc. It works when I add the users to a ".DEFAULT" ACL file like this: user=username lrwk Anyway I'd like to limit their permissions on the Namespace

Attachments not removed from single store
Hi. Well, I've the next problem. I turned on the new attachment de-duplication stuff in the configuration. If I send an attchment between two accounts on my test system, the attment gets saved ion the configured mail_attachment_dir. But... if I delete it from the senders Send folder and the receivers Inbox (and of course empty Trash afterwards in both cases), the hashes and the attachment

inbox parameter is ignored within location config for public namespaces?
Hello, i already asked a similiar question some month ago but still have no fix for my problem :-( This is my global location option in 10-mail.conf: mail_location = maildir:/home/vmail/%d/%n/MAILDIR:INBOX=/home/vmail/%d/%n/MAILDIR/.INBOX:INDEX=/home/vmail/%d/%n/INDEX/ This works fine, until i'm using a public namespace. The following namespace is a normal user too, every mail to bos at

The killer app for Asterisk in corporate deployment
We're a dealer in Europe selling commercial phone & building management systems, some residential too. All the new office buildings have an EIB bus to manage the lights, clima, security access, etc. The big companies also have Crestron or AMX automation and media servers for the boardroom. Asterisk is an awesome phone solution, but if we could offer a solution that tied it all together

Shared namespaces - solved
Heh heh heh. Whoops. I've spent a few hours digging around in the source and nearly posted a kludge of a patch I'd written to give a kind of half-baked attempt at getting group-usable subscriptions files. Then I came across something in the source........ In the config file, do something like the following: namespace public { separator = / prefix = Public/ location =

Sieve Filtering?
I am wanting to set-up some basic sieve filtering on our Dovecot 1.0b7 box. Is this possible in 1.0b7? I'm completely new to sieve filtering so a basic dovecot sieve filtering how to would be fantastic! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Gavin

dovecot.index.cache
Hopefully someone can explain/help me with the dovecot.index.cache file. I am wanting to move a dovecot server (v1.0b7) onto a new box running the same version (1.0b7) of dovecot. To do this I rsync'd the maildir files to the new server but when I logged into the new machine through IMAP dovecot reported: IMAP(username): file index-mail.c: line 105 (index_mail_get_fixed_field): assertion

namespace public / namespace shared - question
After looking through wiki/config/list I'm still not sure, what exactly is the difference between those two. Even all the examples in dovecot's wiki don't have a single "namespace shared" anywhere. And there's only short mention about the difference in dovecot.conf . Peeking into rfc2342 - would shared namespace relate to "Other Users' Namespace(s)" and

Regression ACL & namespace prefix
Hi tl;dr: Seems that for Global ACL directory, namespace prefix is not part of the path, when looking for acl file. Long version: We're planning to update dovecot in next os update to 2.2.36 and while going through regression testing, we found a problem with ACL configuration combined with namespace. Test uses "Global ACL directory" configuration. Relevant configuration part:

ACLs, shared, public, virtual mailboxes not working
Hello, I'm running Dovecot 2.2.3, and am having issues with my public folders, shared folders, and virtual/ALl folders apparently ACLs are on that list as well. I was debugging an unrelated problem with my smtp server and got the following dovecot debug log output. Below is also a doveconf -n output as well as my shared-folder definition file and my global-acls file. What I'm trying to

Regression ACL & namespace prefix
Hi, thanks for the answer. I think your environment was not set up correctly to reproduce this bug. I've retested with 2.3.5 and I can still reproduce it. I've attached a script that will configure everything for testing and if you have a virtual machine available, you can use it directly (it expects linux with systemd for dovecot restart). relevant section from config: namespace {

ACLs and public folders
Dear list, I am using dovecot 1.0.15 on Debian Lenny. I have a public folder, I use ACL / vfile (without public ACL), and I use maildir / vmail. Now I have two questions: 1) http://wiki.dovecot.org/ACL states: "Mailboxes in public namespaces don't have owners, so by default no-one can access them." The same document, when explaining the meaning of the k flag in the ACLs, states:
