A little assistance with Sieve
With all the mess that my email has become, it makes sense for me to try to make use of Sieve, but I'm having quite the time finding out how to make it work. I'm running 1.0.13 on a Debian machine. Sieve appears to be compiled with it. I can access managesieve, and I have set up dovecot.conf with lda. I do not get a NO response when I PUTSCRIPI, but LISTSCRIPTS produces no result, so I

Live linux booting
I have a need to have a live Linux (Debian or sysrescued ) to boot off a hard-drive so that the hard-drive ends up umounted after boot. (for running partimage ). I've gone down the memdisk iso route and read about the issues there - I've seen a way to do this by mounting over nfs (messy) - but I want to do this without the network. I'm thinking that there should be a way to loop

This is sort of working -- but I can't get it to do a 4k output. Not sure how the monitor resolution is detected - This monitor is supposed to do 3480x1200 60hz 4:4:4 But the info I get from hwinfo is different. How does nouveau get this information? If it is from an ID - with a list - the list is probably is wrong. # hwinfo --monitor 95: None 00.1: 10002 LCD Monitor [Created at

Samba + Quickbooks
This is set up with Win2K boxes sharing a QB file on a SAMBA share. It may be quite different than with 95-98x-ME(Miserable Edition). There are two or more problems - one thing I identified is that it is possible for two computers to connect to the QB(QuickBooks) share using the same quick books logon - something that will cause data corruption. (Something that could have been easily

First things first -- I've alluded to this before, but let me be clear -- there is no global database that contains monitor-specific information which is used by any linux drivers. Please forget any notions you had of such a thing existing or being used. The information comes from the EDID blob supplied by the monitor. Presumably hwinfo has a primitive EDID parser, which is where that

Moving Maildir email messages and backing things up.
I just moved to dovecot with Maildir. I think this is probably a stupid question, but I couldn't find an answer after an hour of googling and searching the wiki. What would happen if I ran a script that did this: mv ~/Maildir/.folder_one/cur/* ~/Maildir/.folder_two/cur/ My hunch is it might break things. What if dovecot was stopped? ,.,.,. Where can I find a list of files in

icedove update
Something came up that Confounded problems in my move from UW-imap to dovecot. I found a problem with the new icedove update in Debian lenny when moving from 1.5.0.13+1.5.0.14b.dfsg1-0etch1 to 2.0.0.9-3 that could look like a dovecot issue. Icedove runs for a while but eventually quits updating the displayed email, yet appears to be working and busy trying to get messages from the server. I

Wheezy Dovecot workarounds
Hi all, In switching from Ubuntu to Debian Wheezy (7.5 64bit, network install), I'm finding some surprises in getting Dovecot to work. PROBLEM: As installed, the package manager doesn't give you the dovecot executable. WORKAROUND: To install the dovecot executable, you need to follow these instructions: http://wiki2.dovecot.org/HowTo/DebianStable PROBLEM: Even when you install

Are form_remote_tag and submit_to_remote mutually exclusive?
Do I need to use submit_to_remote in conjunction with or instead of form_remote_tag? The description in the API docs. is confusing. Is the combination of form_tag/submit_to_remote valid? Is the combination of from_remote_tag/submit_tag valid? Thanks, Wes -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Mutually exclusive test fixtures
Hi all, I''ve got a situation where there are two different states an application can be in - that is, there are certain parts of the data that can never coexist. However, I need to test both circumstances, since they''re both valid. Is there any way of specifying a completely different fixture set for one set of tests while leaving the original fixtures in place for the

Are folder redirection and offline files mutually exclusive?
Been tearing my hair out trying to find out if redirecting my user's automounted home folder is killing offline files availability. We are just now migrating our windows users to win7 (school, limited funding), and while I've got folder redirection working, I also need to make sure offline files work as well for my mobile users. What smb.conf settings are required that will fix this

--files-from and --delete mutually exclusive?
Hi rsync developers, I'm trying to get some fancy mirroring done with selecting files from a larger archive through the --files-from option. The only problem that I do see is that rsync will not eat the --delete option whatever I try. Thus, all the old files remain in the mirror archive instead of being deleted. To be more clearly, I want the rsync --files-from option to behave like
