File isn't in mbox format: /home/foo/mail/Trash
Hello,
I'm seeing the following error on a server:
File isn't in mbox format: /home/foo/mail/Trash
The Trash file is full of the following at the beginning:
^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^
I've repaired the file several times, but this keeps happening. Would
any of you mind offering me some insight into what could be causing this
and how to fix it?

Mailbox problem
Greetings,
I am using dovecot as our POP3 and IMAP server and Squirrelmail for the
Webmail. Some of our users get the error message below when trying to access
the mailbox using Webmail:

Purpose of files under .imap
I've got a user with an unusable account. Tbird just sits in a loop
endlessly logging in over and over when a particular folder is selected.
What files under .imap associated with that folder can be safely deleted?
What's stored in all of them?
I see all of these:
.customflags
dovecot.index
dovecot.index.cache
dovecot.index.log
.imap.index
.imap.index.data
.imap.index.log

Dovecot and horde issues
Hello,
First time poster to this list, please be kind.
I am having difficulties trying to get the current stable version of
horde's imp webmail to work correctly using dovecot 1.0rc15. I am
using a pre-release version of SME Server 8 which runs on top of
CentOS 5. I have also tried using the 1.0 release of dovecot as well.
What is happenning is that when I login to imp, I don't

corrupted inboxes
Hi all,
Two users on our system have recently had trouble reading their
inbox, and it seems to be a result of their inbox getting corrupted.
In the most recent case, their Mailbox file (in /home/eric/Mailbox
in this case), has the following as the first line:
cnw.igmg--
Here's a piece of the logs below... if you look for "eric", there's
a successfully delivery,

A simple question??
Dear all,
I'm currently use R v0.99 on Windows 98 Second Edition. I have a question on some simple calculations. I wonder that I've done something wrong with the calculation.
Here is the imput commands:
> a <- 25.01
> b <- 56.08
> a.trunc <- trunc(a)
> b.trunc <- trunc(b)
> a.tail <- a - a.trunc
> b.tail <- b - b.trunc
> a.trunc

(15 out of 5000) using POP mainly via Thunderbird.

v1.3 plugin locations
It's getting more and more annoying to have separate plugin directories
for lda, pop3 and imap. Currently all the plugins are installed into
$lib/dovecot/ and then symlinked to the lda, pop3, imap directories. The
original reason was that v0.99 just loaded everything in those
directories since there was no mail_plugins setting.
But then there are things like expire-tool and convert-tool (and

dovecot authentication & exim in rc27
[introduction: new to the list, used dovecot w/exim as MTA in
simple ways for 2 years, blah blah blah]
i'm trying to get exim to use dovecot auth with a copy of
rc27 and am missing something that's probably quite simple.
specifically, how does one configure the authenticators
in dovecot.conf for rc27? the auth section of the default
config file installed in rc27 doesn't entirely

Errors after moving to Maildir from mbox format
Hi All,
Over the weekend I bit the bullet and migrated my entire office from
server to another and converted everything from MBOX to Maildir.
Althought it took ages and their we're a few little problems along
the way, the migration was a complete success with no users reporting
any problems(Mbox used to always cause file lock ups) or even
noticing anything had changed... Which is

.imap.index.data Files
Hi,
We recently had a mail storm which resulted in many tens of thousands of
e-mails being delivered to each of 4 users in just 5 minutes.
This was quickly resolved.
However, one more savvy user though he could use the webmail (squirrelmail)
to delete the e-mail without downloading it. He gave up on the idea though.
I, however, removed the mail directly from the server file system.

dovecot and ldap passwords.
Hallo.
First of all I'm sorry for my bad english.
I have a question about how dovecot use passwords.
I have all my mail accounts in a ldap database.
The user password are stored in form: {crypt}mypasswd.
In dovecot-ldap.conf I have default_pass_scheme = CRYPT.
All is working fine.
The problem in the crypt scheme is that I can't have passwords more than
8 characters long.
So I've tried

Differences between Versions 1 and 2?
What are the major differences between Versions 1.x and 2.0?
I am beginning to set up a new mail server for a small group
of users (~20 accounts). Options are the "0.99" version pre-
packaged with RHEL-4, or building v1.2.16 or v2.0.7. Just
wondering what the list recommends for a new installation.
Thanks,

What are they trying to do here?
Hi!
I?m new to the list, and I?m not really having a ?problem?, but I?m seeing
something in my log files that I wonder if I should be concerned.
I?ve been using Dovecot (dovecot-0.99.14-8.fc4) on my Fedora Core 4 (kernel
2.6.17-1.2142_FC4) machine from quite some time.
For the last few days, I?ve been seeing this in my daily ?Logwatch? e-mail:
dovecot:
