decrease amount of ticks on y axis in lattice levelplot
Hi all, How can I decrease the number of ticks on the y-axis in a lattice levelplot()? I have as many ticks displayed on the y-axis as I have columns of data (1000 columns), how can I decrease this amount of ticks, while still properly displaying all the data? Using dates on axis with Grid plots

xyplot second y-xis and legend
Dear list, I try to set a secondary y-axis in a lattice xyplot. This works. However, I am unable to set a proper legend/key together with the 2nd y-axis under general xyplot procedures. See example below. The combination of the par.settings with simpleTheme and other settings seems to go wrong. I couldn't find a solution from previous topics. Any suggestions? thanks in advance! xyplot lattice fine control of axes limits and thick marks (with log scale)

Defining a viewport scale in {Grid}
Am just feeling my way into the grid library, and cannot figure out how to define the plot limits. 3/5 of the example polygons below plot in the default 0-1 range viewport. But when I try to redefine the viewport the polygons plot in the same places. I also get the same result without employing push/pop. (As you can see from the scale I'm trying to introduce, I want to plot map polygons.)

need for speed on grid.rect
When I use grid.rect to print a multi-coloured grid, it is incredibly slow compared to a single colour grid, or even a two colour grid. I've set out some simplified examples below. Number format in log-scaled lattice xyplots
For a non-log-scaled y-axis, I was able to change the appearance of the y tick labels in an xyplot by using a custom function for yscale.components. However I couldn't get that approach to work for when scales=list(y=list(log=TRUE)). What I'm trying to do is make the y-tick labels show up as something like (10, 100, 1000, etc.) rather than the default (10^1.0, 10^2.0, 10^3.0, etc.).
