Proxy secured incoming POP3/IMAP4 to unsecure backend?
auth process receives the protocol requested when performing authentication as variable %s (see https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Variables)
You can use this to choose the value you return for port.

Proxy secured incoming POP3/IMAP4 to unsecure backend?
The port is determined with port=nnn setting. You can't return per-protocol port like that, you need to look at the protocol requested by user and return port based on that, or you can omit port to default into "standard port".
not using ssl/starttls is default.

Proxy secured incoming POP3/IMAP4 to unsecure backend?
Thank you!
Ok, so I can omit ssl=no and startssl=no, and this results in default
settings for ssl which is 'off'? Or the defaults are 'on' anyway?
Can I somehow specify ports on remote hosts that proxy will use to connect
to? Like (just image): 'proxy host_imap=10.1.1.1:143 host_pop=10.1.1.1:110'
or somehow?

Proxy secured incoming POP3/IMAP4 to unsecure backend?
Seen that URL but port= is strange due to there is no protocol connection.
So if I set port=12345 then what proto will I see there? Misleading setting
this is why I mentioned (non-existing) per-proto port setting above.
May I please ask for any example on how to pass port per proto? It is a bit
fuzzy for me to figure it out but I do believe you used to use it somehow.

Proxy secured incoming POP3/IMAP4 to unsecure backend?
Hi,
I try to set up dovecot as a proxy server, to proxy requests to several
dovecot-based backend servers. I wand external clients who connects to this
proxy Dovecot to use TLS (this is easy to set up) while want to have
unsecured (plain IMAP/POP) connections to backends.
You see, links to backends are over LAN so no TLS needed, and these
backends are poor old machines (with old Docecots like

Asterisk not starting
Hello!
Asterisk "CVS-HEAD-08/06/04-14:55:13" won't start on two of three different

Athlon 64 for Asterisk?
I want to buy a new server to run Asterisk and after looking at prices
for the Athlon XP 3000+ it costs the same as an Athlon 64 at the same speed
rating. I was wondering if Zaptel/Asterisk will compile/work on an Athlon 64?

Dismal R performance of Athlon moble CPU?
I have been using a laptop computer of Pentium III 1.13 Ghz. I heard
that AMD's Athlon has excellent floating point capacity. So I bought a
Athlon 2200+ laptop yesterday. I expected that new Athlon 2200+ will be
twice as fast as the P III 1.13 GB. I ran a R simulation program and
the new computer is only 30% faster, in fact slightly slower than a
Celeron 1.50 GB laptop. I am very disappointed

Not an IMAP4 Server?
I've been testing alpha4, and every once in a while my client
(Thunderbird 1.5 RC1) tells me the dovecot isn't a valid IMAP4 server.
This is usually (maybe always) when I first bring up the client up. If
I just ask the client to get the mail again, it does so happily (without
any errors).
I must say I found dovecot as a pleasant surprise. We have been using
UW. Which didn't

IMAP4 extensions for Visual Voicemail (VVM)
Hi Team,
I need to develop Visual VoiceMail solution. In this solution I need a IMAP4
server, from which I can get a hit for each mail retrieval. Can anyone help
me if dovecot can be used for this purpose.

Testing pop3/imap4 and mdbox corrupted indexes?
I have two questions:
1. What method/tool (other than a MuA) can I use to test my Dovecot setup
from Windows CLI when ssl is enabled?
I have tried connecting to to the pop3/imap4 services from a Windows PC but
here is what I get:
[pop3]
+OK Dovecot-2.0-sis ready.
user wash at domain.co.ke
-ERR Plaintext authentication disallowed on non-secure (SSL/TLS)
connections.

Opteron, Athlon/64, and disaster recovery
Has anybody here taken a HDD configured with an Opteron system, and then put
it into an Athlon/64 and had it work?
Are they interchangeable, like an Athlon/32 and a P3/P4?
