Using Thunderbird as local mail reader
Hi! I'm trying to figure out how to use Thunderbird as a local mail reader. So far I don't see any way to configure it other than as a POP3 or IMAP mail reader, but I get my mail locally and would like to try using Tbird to read it. What am I overlooking? Thanks in advance! -- ---- Fred Smith -- fredex at fcshome.stoneham.ma.us ------------------------ ---- Do you

clicking on link in Thunderbird fails to open page in Firefox
This worked fine for years until I updated firefox and thunderbird recently. Now, however, when I click on a link in an email in thunderbird, rather than open the indicated webpage in firefox, nothing at all happens. network.protocol-handler.app.http in tbird's about:config specifies the executable /usr/lib/thunderbird/open-browser.sh and running the latter at the CLI with a URL as an

Thunderbird message cache out of sync after repetitive rsyncs...
Ok, hopefully there is a solution to this. I've been experimenting with multiple rsyncs in preparation for pulling the trigger on the mail server switch, but have a problem that I really want to fox before doing so. Apparently something causes Thunderbirds local message cache to get out of sync with dovecot after a sync. Here is the series of commands I'm running: 1. stop postfix,

Thunderbird very slow startup, 1.2.11, mbox, postfix local delivery to /var/mail
I've Google'd to exhaustion and can't seem to find an answer to my problem. I'm not sure if the problem is TBird 3 or my Dovecot setup. The basic problem is that when I launch TBird and it grabs messages upon startup, it takes forever to supposedly pull them down. Once it's got them they sort relatively quickly into the proper IMAP (dovecot) folders. I don't use sieve

Thunderbird slow in talking with dovecot IMAP AND to sendmail
I'm trying to find out what's causing this slowdown -- it's INTOLERABLE.... over 1 minute and less than 1% done. (400MB file)... After trying 3 times, I gave up and logged in using X to the server and ran Tbird from there.... Mail sent out in < 1 minute, though the copy to dovecot took about 50% longer. So... I looked at the network trace. and everyfrackin' body was

Results of MCD estimators in MASS and rrcov
Hi! I tested two different implementations of the robust MCD estimator: cov.mcd from the MASS package and covMcd from the rrcov package. Tests were done on the hbk dataset included in the rrcov package. Unfortunately I get quite differing results -- so the question is whether this differences are justified or an error on my side or a bug? Here is, what I did: > require(MASS) >

1.0rc3 problem w/ Thunderbird 1.5.0.5 on Mac OS X
Howdy, I'm very excited about the new dovecot release because I've been having problems with a hang on saving messages to my sent-mail box over imap+ssl. I installed 1.0rc3 over my 1.0rc2 install on FreeBSD 5.3 in the same manner as all the other upgrades I've done. After checking my email, tbird became nonresponsive and I saw this repeating in my logs ad infinitum: Aug 2 10:17:10

Thunderbird not able to edit sieve Message Filters
I'm not sure when this problem first occurred - it is many months since I last editted a sieve filter. I am certainly several versions of Thunderbird and, probably, a few versions of Dovecot on from when I last editted a sieve filter. However, I do know that I have done so in the past. I have just built Dovecot 2.2.13 and Pigeonhole 0.4.3, installed and running on Slackware 14.1 x64. I

thunderbird and email duplication
Hi all, I have recently switched over to Dovecot from CourierIMAP trying for some speedup, which I did get. Installation went OK, so all seemed fine. But suddenly I realised, that incoming emails are replicating themselves. This seems only to happen when connected with Thunderbird. I am also using Squirrelmail and KMail as clients which don't seem to show the behaviour. It seems to

Thunderbird not automatically filter on incomming mail
Hi folks, I've noticed since long time ago that all the filters i have preset in thunderbird on CentOs are not automatically being applied as mail arrives. What i use to do is going to Tools->Run Filters on Folders being reading the "Local Folders -> Inbox" folder. Is there a way to preset it to automatically filter the incomming mail to the corresponding folders? I can
