v2.0.0 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/2.0/dovecot-2.0.0.tar.gz http://dovecot.org/releases/2.0/dovecot-2.0.0.tar.gz.sig As promised last Friday, here's the v2.0.0 release finally. I'm cautiously optimistic that v2.0.1 won't (have to) be released for a few weeks, since there was quite a lot of testing and fixing going on in the RC stage. Can't create new Xen domains using libvirt on CentOS 6.5
Hello, we have a strange problem on a fresh install of CentOS 6.5. On the server we want to use Xen to host paravirtualised guests (the system has no hardware virtualization support). To manage the domain we would like to use libvirt. Xen and libvirt are set up as described here: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/Xen4QuickStart http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/Xen4QuickStart/Xen4Libvirt When

Where in the filesystem to place the rails application root?
This is a minor Linux administrative issue having to do with deploying rails applications. I am considering where to place the root of our rails application and I would appreciate some suggestions, along with supporting rationale, from those of you that have deployed a rails appliction for general enterprise use. I am thinking along the lines of using

Samba 3 smbstatus not as good
I use a lot of "force user" and "force group" directives on various shares. With smbstatus of Samba 2 I could always verify with a glance what uid and gid a particular service is being accessed as, with Samba 3 you can't. I'd REALLY like to see that come back to smbstatus. Here's a real world example of my complaint... Samba 2 smbstatus output... Samba version

I have a Solaris samba 2.0.0 box (zirconium) trying to join a workgroup. dotlock errors without using dotlock
I have a few clients that have more than one user in the same mailbox. I have my setup using fctrl for mailbox and index locking. My mail is stored on a network file system (gluster) and my indexes are stored on the local drive. I have a few issues: - My users mailboxes have issues where messages will be mixed up (you go to open a message and it gets a different message) - messages will

Courier to dovecot migrations
Dear All, I saw some topics discussed in forums about this, but none with my problems :( Currently we have a mailserver postfix with courier-imap-4.1.1, and courier-pop3 and courier-authlib. Our Maildir's are written in the users home directory (ex: ~/Maildir) I'm now migrating the mailserver to other cluster and installing with dovecot. We're also moving the Maildir's to

Benchmarking
I wasted too much time today doing this, but they do show a few interesting things: 1) mmap_disable=yes is faster than mmap_disable=no. I didn't expect this. I'm not yet sure why this is, but possibly because then it updates the mail index by reading the changes from dovecot.index.log, instead of reopening and re-mmaping dovecot.index. At least that's the biggest difference between

maildir in NFS
How can I configure the dovecot for working with maildir's through NFS? If I add option "index_mmap_invalidate = yes" (as in doc/nfs.t) then in log I have this message: "Error: Error in configuration file /etc/dovecot.conf line 296: Unknown setting: index_mmap_invalidate" If I try to get the mail without option "index_mmap_invalidate" then I have in log this

POP3 && Folders
I'm sure this has come up on the list before... I have a number of accounts normally only accessed via IMAP, and for this reason, there is a global sieve script for all users (also required for the spam filtering). What this means though, is that ever users has 3-4 set folders, that are forced on. I now have a few users that want to use POP3. Is there a way to make it download all messages,

maildir compressed message fix patch
When a compressed maildir message has a bad S= size in its filename it puts the user in an unrecoverable state, since maildir's do_fix_size function just does a stat() on the maildir file and saves the compressed size in the filename. This (quick, rough, barely tested) patch addresses this issue, it's inefficient, but we're already in a hopefully rare emergency situation. ---

Sieve Script Replication Gliches (Report #2)
Hi, I've observed some odd behaviour with dsync replication between two hosts, specifically to do with sieve script replication. In short, I have two hosts which replicate in a master-master type setup where almost all of the reads and writes happen to just one of the two hosts. They are both running 2.2.devel (9dc6403), which is close to the latest 2.2 -git . Pigeonhole is running

Migrating from mbox to maildir: Message ordering?
Hi, all. I have been playing with the notion of migrating some of my folders to maildir because it's a lot easier to manage that way from a reader standpoint. The big question I have is how do I maintain message ordering in each folder? When I use a mail program to do the migration from mbox to maildir, selecting "order received ascending", it works nicely, but one very small
