Sieve Vacation Auto-Reply Exclusions
The Dovecot Wiki is quite clear regarding its vacation auto-reply
mechanism http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Sieve and under what
circumstances the automatic replies will NOT be sent. However, is it
possible to manually add a list of envelope senders that the script
will not respond to?
Thank you,
B. Bodger

BUG REPORT - Stops logging after sleep
Version: dovecot --version: 1.0.0
OS: OS X - 10.4.9
Architecture: G5 Dual/1.8Ghz
Had a fairly normal time correction last night:
May 9 20:56:56 G518X2 ntpd[219]: time set -1.212733 s
Which dovecot duly noted:
May 9 20:56:56 G518X2 dovecot: auth(default): Time just moved
backwards by 1 seconds. I'll sleep now until we're back in present.
This morning all of the dovecot processes are

parameters to deliver
Read this in the dovecot sieve wiki:
"The envelope sender is taken from a Return-Path: header in the
message. The envelope recipient is taken from -d option passed to
deliver."
Is "-d" still a valid deliver switch? When I configure postfix's
main.cf like so...
mailbox_command = /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver -d -e

v1.1.beta13 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/1.1/beta/dovecot-1.1.beta13.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/1.1/beta/dovecot-1.1.beta13.tar.gz.sig
Changes since beta12:
- Half of LDAP code was rewritten to fix reconnect/queuing problems. I
did test that the new code works with and without auth binds, but be
careful.
- \Recent flags should finally work correctly with maildir.
- last_used field wasn't

Force rebuild v1.0.1
Haven't seen a thread discussing forcing rebuilding of indexes /
cache, so the question is, if these files in a users home directory
were deleted...

v1.1.1 released

later broken with "UID larger than next_uid" error.

OS X Mail Administration
I'd like to request some feed back from any OS X Mail Admins on the
list, please.
Currently running 10.4.9 here using postfix / dovecot and I'm about
to take the plunge from mbox to maildir. I just migrated from uw-imap
to dovecot.
As you're aware, users inbox's are customarily stored in /var/mail/%
username and personal folders under /Users/%username/Library/Mail/IMAP.

Starting using LaunchDaemons
I've figured this one out... Just wanted to get it into the dovecot
mailing list archive so that somebody in the future might find it if
they need it.
Running Dovecot on Mac OS X 10.4.11 and using LaunchDaemon to start.
Following a system crash, dovecot failed to restart with this in the
system log...

Saving MS Word Documents
Okay,
I know this has come up before and before being chastised I spent a couple
hours reviewing the archives and could find the messages on it.
I have a user who when he attempts to save a MS Word Document (test
file.doc) to a samba share gets the following error:
Word cannot complete the save due to file permission error.

compiling issue 1.2.6 - Solaris
Heya,
I am expiriencing compiling issues on Solaris 8 and Solaris 10 boxes
with dovecot 1.2.6. On Solaris 8 the compiler is gcc 64bit 3.2.2, on
Solaris 10 gcc 3.4.3.
On both systems the compiling fails with:
/bin/bash ../../libtool --tag=CC --mode=link gcc -std=gnu99 -g -O2
-Wall -W -Wmissing-prototypes -Wmissing-declarations -Wpointer-arith
-Wchar-subscripts -Wformat=2

Maildir permissions on creation?
The main reason is that I don't want to provide backup user with unnecessary write permissions within maildirs and mail user within backup logs dir. I was talking about mail_user:mail_group 0750 on dirs and 0640 on files. (Or, possibly, mail_user:backup_group 2750 and 2640.)

CONVERT Plugin
Timo,
Running v1.0.0
The convert plugin works pretty damn good! No need to mess with
external utilities.
One comment, though: Running here on OS X, I configured it with this
convert_mail line:
convert_mail = mbox:~/Library/Mail/IMAP/:INBOX=/var/mail/%u and
mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir
The IMAP directory was renamed to IMAP-converted after the process
but the inbox (in

Login processes in Dovecot
I will be deploying Dovecot on OS X shortly. I am looking for
clarification on the limits imposed by OS X and sysctl
[kern.maxproc]. I understand that it is defaulting to 532, but can be
raised to 2500. I believe the OS uses around 100 or so, plus I will
have other processes and shells at times.
Does Dovecot use one process per user logged in? I find Apple Mail
uses about 4 IMAP

Deliver crashes with code 11
If I have a sieve script that use the vacation, deliver crashes. I think it could be a bug of the new (1.1) version of sieve language.
Any help?

POP3 dictionary attacks
I'm seeing strings of failed POP3 login attempts with obvious bogus
usernames coming from different IP addresses. Today's originated from
216.31.146.19 (which resolves to neovisionlabs.com). This looks like a
botnet attack. I got a similar probe a couple days ago. Is anyone else
seeing these?
The attack involves trying about 20 different names, about 3-4 seconds
apart. Here's a

Window Scrolling on OSX
I think this has been noted in previous posts by others, but I'm
noticing it with post-version 1 builds of Darwine for OSX and I'm
wondering if there's any way to fix it.
The behavior is hard to describe but here goes: when using either
Irfanview or Forte Agent, mouse activity in the Windows app causes the
window to move downward on the desktop. Each click, the windows jumps

IDLE with inotify problem
Hi,
I recently switched from courier imap to dovecot. With courier I had
a working IDLE setup that informed me immediately when new mail
arrived. With Dovecot it is different, sometimes i get an immediate
result but most of the time it takes a rather long time for the
notification to return to the client.
For testing purposes I set mailbox_idle_check_interval = 1 and i now
get the same
