1.0.rc11 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.rc11.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.rc11.tar.gz.sig
Hopefully the last RC release? As far as I know there are no major
problems left now. If nothing big shows up, v1.0 should be out in a
couple of weeks.
* Renamed default_mail_env to mail_location. default_mail_env still
works for backwards compatibility.

http://dovecot.org/releases/1.1/rc/dovecot-1.1.rc11.tar.gz.sig
This is the final v1.1 RC. Tomorrow I'll change only the version number,
update the documentation and call it v1.1.0. But please test this anyway
to make sure I didn't happen to break anything since rc10 :)

chan_dahdi under bristuff 0.4.0-RC11 not building under Linux 10.04.2 LTS
Hi all,
I downloaded a copy of bristuff 0.4.0-RC11 on my Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS server
machine with 2.6.32-24-generic-pae kernel.
The prereq.sh script executes without complaints (BTW on my system,
libncurses-dev evaluates to libncurses5-dev and libz-dev evaluates to
zlib1g-dev).
With the asterisk 1.4.41 package that is installed, a make menuselect
operation indicates that all dependencies are met

v1.0 plans, rc11 tomorrow
As you can probably guess from my today's burst of activity, I'm no
longer extremely busy. Actually it looks like for the next 3-4 weeks I
don't have anything especially time consuming to do. So it's time to get
Dovecot v1.0 released :)
I've now read all the mails from this list again, and it looks like
pretty much the only problems with rc10 was the mbox assert crash, which

RC11 Build Failure on FreeBSD 6.1
I just ran into a build failure on Dovecot 1.0RC11 on FreeBSD 6.1.
Identical command sequence for the build worked fine for RC10. uname -a:
FreeBSD thor.krellis.org 6.1-RELEASE-p5 FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE-p5 #0: Fri

Configured with a straight ./configure, no options, no problems reported
during configure, but make

1.0.rc12 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.rc12.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.rc12.tar.gz.sig
Since rc11 has problems compiling with BSDs, here's a new release. Just
two changes:
- rc11 didn't compile with some compilers
- default_mail_env fallbacking was broken with --exec-mail
Here's also again the rc11 changes:
* Renamed default_mail_env to mail_location.

How do I create a clean build environment?
I get interesting results on this one. If I run rpm -q -a | grep i386
as root, I get this:
nspluginwrapper-i386-0.9.91.1-1
If I run as my local non-root user, I get this:
libgcc-3.4.6-3.i386
libselinux-1.19.1-7.2.i386
libstdc++-3.4.6-3.i386
krb5-libs-1.3.4-33.i386

Samba 2.2.5 is crap.
Unstable windozes (hangs all the time)
Major bugs in the printing system, mount and smbmount commands.
Samba 2.2.5 is completely usable if you ask me. Crap I would say and
should never been released. I consider to change to Beeweb although it
cost money.
BTW how do u uninstall the dirt?? using ./uninstall ???

HEADSUP: USB da(4) quirks deprecated
I have committed code to disable the USB quirks in da(4). Since we now
have code that should handle the common case of a failure after receiving
6 byte commands, most of them should no longer be necessary. However, the
only way to tell if a quirk is really needed is to test the new code with
the quirks disabled. You may have a device (USB camera, pen drive, hard
drive, ...) that begins to get

Phantom email message
Got sort of a strange problem on one email account. Everything works
fine with Thunderbird/IMAP showing the correct unread message count. But
on my DroidX smartphone one of my email accounts always shows one unread
message, but I can't bring any unread messages up. It's like there's
something there making it think there's a message when there isn't.
The email client is K-9
