"nopassword" extra field useless with LDAP passdb
Hi,
We are trying to implement a highly secure mail server with user authentication restricted to SSL certificates only (not using passwords at all). Still, user information is stored in a LDAP directory. In this configuration LDAP is used to check whether the user is registered (and probably supply quota and other info), and actual authentication is done by SSL layer.
According to wiki, a

PAM timed out, kill failed, auth SEGV
My log is full of blocks like this:
auth(default): pam(?): PAM child process 13576 timed out, killing it
auth(default): PAM: kill(13576) failed: No such process
Often, this is recorded for several pids at once.
Occasionally, there's a single burst when a virtual user logs in,
immediately before pam_authenticate() fails and checkpassword is
executed. When this happens, pam() contains the

Segfault in auth (when talked to by postfix lda)
Afternoon all.
I'm seeing a segfault in dovecot 2.2.12 (debian package 1:2.2.12-2). I
can log into dovecot fine with mutt, but the segfaults seem to occur
when postfix (2.11.0, debian package 2.11.0-1+b1) tries to deliver a
message.
This was working fine under 2.2.9 (I can downgrade to that and delivery works).
Can anyone help? Doveconf -n, and backtrace follow.

v1.1 alpha1: can't pop/imap login with LDAP
Hi,
We recentlty upgraded our dovecot from v1.0.2 to v1.1ahpha1 under CentOS 4.4.
Also, we are using Postfix 2.4.3 and OpenLDAP 2.3.35.
We've been using LDAP for our POP/IAMP user authentication, however after
upgrading to v1.1alpha1, LDAP authentication does't seem to be working
properly.
We re-examined the source code, and made a few modification.
We are suspecting that...

Additional passdb result status
Dear Dovecot-Team,
I am implementing a plugin (for the pop3/imap process) that requires
some data to provided from the authentication phase (a derivative of the
password). For that, I have now implemented a passdb plugin that
generates this data and I would like to "pass" this data down to the
mail process (pop3/imap) via extra_fields in the reply of the
authentication. The general idea

patch for passdb-vpopmail in v1.1.3
I need pop-before-smtp to work with vpopmail (yes, yes, I know, don't
ask). Enabling the code to update the relays file brings a small bug
to light, fixable with the following patch:

Help implementing username_format in auth PAM driver
While configuring my server with dovecot I noticed that the PAM
authentication driver does not support the username_format option as
does the password file driver. This didn't seem too hard to implement
so I through together a patch.
As you can see in the attached patch I only modify the username sent
to PAM. Despit doing this I run into the domain lost

%{orig_user} missing in checkpassword-Script
Dear dovecot maintainers:
I'm using SSL client certificates together with a checkpassword scripts
to authenticate our users.
My problem is: In the checkpassword script the AUTH_USER environment
variable will either contain the username that was configured in the
mailclient (if auth_ssl_username_from_cert=false) or the username
from the certificate (if auth_ssl_username_from_cert=true).

"Disable non webmail IMAP access" in vpopmail and Dovecot
Hello,
i'm using in my installation qmail+vpopmail and now I have migrated from
courier-imap to dovecot.
Dovecot is very much faster with large mailbox than courier-imap.
But I have a problem.
vpopmail has a feature that allows you to "Disable non webmail IMAP access",
many webmail using imap as if they were, and they are, a client IMAP.
vpopmail give me the ability to

[BUG] Re: auth_bind with "()" in username not working
Hi guys,
I had a look in the sources about this problem.
the problem seems to be the ldap_escape function that is called from
ldap_verify_plain_auth_bind_userdn(..)
I dont really know if this escaping is needed at this point, but with
this change it works for me. No other problems discovered so far.
could somebody, who is deeper in the sources give me a hint if
this will make some troubles?

Passing information from passdb to userdb
I'm trying to hack together a new authentication back-end and I wanted to know if it's possible to pass values from passdb to userdb in the auth_request structure at authentication time. I modified struct auth_request in auth-request.h to contain a new variable and it gets set properly in my passdb, however the value is not there when checking for it userdb.
I'm very novice when it

[PATCH] Add SCRAM-SHA-1 password scheme
Hello,
attached is an hg export on top of the current dovecot-2.2 branch, which
adds support for a SCRAM-SHA-1 password scheme.
Ideally I'd want doveadm pw's rounds flag to apply to this, but that's
currently specific to the crypt password scheme, so I left it out for now.

Help - custom vpopmail
Hi,
First, I'm not sure if dovecot should alter this, but it seems vpopmail
writes the IP into the 'remote_ip' field instead of the auth type. Dovecot
still writes the auth type.? I want both.
So I modified my vpopmail install to write an additional field into the
lastauth table.? My custom vpopmail writes the remote IP into remote_ip,
and the auth type into a 'type'
