User ID's with Special Characters??
Hello List:
I am new to this list and this is my first posting.
Presently, I am using Red Hat 9.0 and soon planning to switch over to
CentOS. I have one question. In RH user names can not contain special
characters. For example my UID is 'kbajwa' and my email address is
kbajwa at tibonline.net. Since '@' in the email address is a special
character, I can not use my email as my

CentOS 5.2
Postfix-2.3.3

Dovecot.Sieve-1.1.5
I have setup with:
home_mailbox = Maildir/ (/etc/postfix/main.cf) &
mail-location = maildir:~/Maildir (/etc/dovecot.conf)
I have created a 'test' user to test Sieve 'Vacation' setup. My questions
are:
1. Which folder '.dovecot.sieve' script is copied into? Is it 'home/test'

Certificate Server name!
Setup of Dovecot went smoothly.
Now when I try to retrieve mail from the server, I get the following
message:
Security Error: Domain name mismatch
You have attempted to establish a connection to "mail.tib.com"
However, the security certificate presented belongs to "imap.tib.com".....
How to fix this message?
Thanks in advance.

10-fold speed drop while transferring large files from Windows to Samba server
Hi All,
I have a Linux box (P3-800MHz/196MB RAM/10GB+320GB) running Samba
3.0.22 server and a Windows XP (P3-800MHz/512MB RAM/200GB) client.
The transfer speed (both ways) is about 5-7 MB/s when file is smaller
than 700MB. For larger files there is a difference: when the Win client
writes a file on the small Linux disk (10GB) the speed is as above. But
when I copy, let's say, a 1.5GB file

Stepwise model selection question
I use the step() function occasionally, and I think I understand its
objective, proper use, and limitations. Now I see stepwise model selection
being used in what seems to be an unusual way, and I wonder if it is right
or wrong. May I describe?

the last person probably wasn't able to give the ./configure probably because most people uses the precompiled iso to install NAS4Free.? if you need the ./configure I might have to look for their source on GitHub or something.

Error when joining new DC
Now I just need to find a solution how to allow dyndns updates only for the DCs and not the clients.
Reason for this is that all our servers have multiple interfaces. Although they are connecting to AD mostly via default route we have seen issues where some register with wrong interface thus creating incorrect DNS records. All the DNS records A & PTR are usually created automatically during

Cisco vs. 6.9
After upgrading a Linux system from OpenSSH 6.7 to 6.9, Cisco
switches/routers can no longer scp config files to/from the system. The
last debug entry before the Cisco device closes the connection is "debug1:
server_input_channel_open: confirm session". The next line is "Connection
closed by x.x.x.x". Anyone else seen this or know of a fix? The Cisco
device gives

Hot Fallover
Hello List:
Recently our shorewall FW server went dead (PS failure) & brought the entire
system down. Luckily we are testing the FW and other servers, so we did not
loose anything. Now we have decided to setup two Shorewall FW servers with a
primary & another fallover FW server.
I have done some research cruised the Internet and found that a product

[Bridge] Bridge does not stay UP!!!
Hello List:
I am trying to setup a bridge & Shorewall on a CentOS 4.3 (fresh Install)
server. I successfully setup the bridge. However when I reboot the system,
the bridge does not remain ACTIVE.
Am I missing a setting?
Thanks.
