Can't achieve alias working with SQL
Hello,
On a fresh install of Jessie, I achieve to make dovecot/postfix working
with SQL, but I still can't send email to alias for wich one I get :
"Unknown user"
After debug enable in dovecot, I see that the user_query SQL , just
query for the "users" table and not the "forward" table so the final
alias user is not known.
But when I check postfix for

Postfix, MySQL, Dovecot LDA and alias domains
Hi there,
I have a postfix/postfixadmin/mysql/dovecot install that was using
'virtual' for the LDA. I tried the 'dovecot' LDA to enable Sieve but
ran into trouble with aliases. With domain "some-domain.com" being an
alias to "somedomain.com", mail sent to *@somedomain.com would be
delivered to the Maildir fine, but the 'dovecot' LDA tossed

Virtual Alias Forwarding
I'm having a problem with Dovecot and forwarding of aliases. Any help would
be greatly appreciated.
I'm using Postfix, Mysql, dovecot, amavis.
mysql> SELECT * FROM alias;
| address | goto | domain | created | modified | active |
It seems from the logs that incoming mail is being delivered to the mailbox
via dovecot. Mail gets to the correct mailbox (address field), however, if I

Cannot log in to IMAP server and logs are unclear as to why
I?m trying a super basic config based upon https://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/PostfixDovecotLMTP but before I work on shipping mail through Postfix to DoveCot, I wanted to make sure IMAP is working first, but I can?t even get a basic login to so I thought I?d see if the gurus on the list might be able to point out I?m doing wrong. The documentation is pretty good, but there were some gaps I had to

Hi Aki,
Again, thanks very much for your response. Your solution of adding the colons worked. Actually, I futzed with it a little bit and it works with as few as 2 added colons.
This is interesting since in the examples section of https://doc.dovecot.org/configuration_manual/authentication/passwd_file/ it explicitly states:

This file can be used as a passdb:

sieve vacation to an alias group
Hi Yassine,
Thanks for the effort, unfortunately, we cannot turn it into an actual
mailbox, this is a long story that I don't want to include here. but it
would not be a valid option in our environment. Any other ideas
Is it possible to do it with vacation? Is there another auto responder or
plugin that can achieve this? How do ticketing systems handle this?
Thanks
Monis

sieve vacation to an alias group
Since sending to the alias will send to a, b and c, just define the
filter on one mailbox only instead of making it global I guess.
Yassine.

sieve vacation alias handling problem
Hi,
I am using Dovecot LDA as LMTP renders envelope extension unusable.
The problem I have noticed is that when user has multiple aliases sieve
responds to all of them, not only to :addresses specified.
>From testing it seems that :addresses only adds addresses to the list of
"known" emails to check against. It is not limiting it.
As I understand, sieve should check if To: header

sieve vacation to an alias group
@odhiambo : we may later, but currently we are dependent on this email
Hi Yassine,
This is actually what I have done now, but I want it to be more robust, if
this user quits, then I must have someone else in the group with the rule.
I have moved the rule from global sieve script to one of group members in
his local sieve script, the syntax is the same
As for the rule itself

Mail Alias Stores in mySQL Not working
This apparently was a problem that i was not aware since i redid my mail server configuration to make use of Postfixadmin. I have update the conf files using the postfix document fromthe down load. The download document seems to be fpr an early version of dovecot (I am using 2.2.4) as it focuse of dovecot.conf which is now broken into file in the conf.d subdirectory I get "dovecot:

Odd replication behaviour
Hi,
I have just built a new pair of similar machines both running CentOS 8.2 (selinux disabled) and Dovecot 2.3.8 (9df20d2db).
One machine is a VPS (host A) and one is on my home network (host B). The idea is that they are set up in a master/master config with Dovecot replication.
I seem to have this 95% working but there is one strange issue I can?t work out.
Currently B is a perfect replica

sieve vacation to an alias group
I am curious to know how did you define the filter on an alias in the
first place ? is it a filter defined globaly in dovecot ? I don't see
how it can be defined in any individual mailbox. Can you show the
dovecot/sieve configuration to achieve this ?
Yassine.

Dovecot LMTP rejects all users as non-existent
I'm running Dovecot 2.2.27 (c0f36b0) on Debian Stretch and I'm having
some trouble with LMTP delivery from Postfix to Dovecot.
The message in the logs is

dovecot-lmtp dont see otherMailbox record?
Hello Postfix + LDAP , Samba as LDAP server, Dovecot virtual_transport set in postfix to dovecot-lmtp ( for autoresponder support ) Users have their email aliases in the otherMailbox record For example, account_test at example-domain user has an alias: test at exmaple-domain Query from command line works fine: postmap -q test at example-domain ldap://etc/postfix/ad_virtual_
