X86_64 and 4GB RAM using Flat Memory Model?
Hello,
I have an odd problem on a dual processor, dual core Opteron system.
Obviosously it is x86_64 so should have no problem with large amounts of
RAM. The system has 4 GB installed (2GB on each processor).
If I boot the system with a fresh install of Debian Etch it sees all the memory
fine. dmesg reports:
Memory: 4107008k/5242880k available (1929k kernel code, 86836k

The server is connected to LAN via a firewall appliance, no filtering applied.
Many users with different clients complain a lot of "server disconnected" errors.
On the server side Doveco does not report any kind of error. I just ab an

days I need to restart or reload dovecot service because at that time users
are not able to login.

imap fails, policy wrong?
up until a week or so ago, I had no problem using IMAP logging into a server
running Fedora Core (I think 4 or 5 ) with dovecot 1.0. Had used squirrelmail
and other mail agents using IMAP with no problem. as of 2 days ago, I
get a squirrelmail error "ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.
Query: CAPABILITY" and turning on dovecot debugging shows the following:

xenconsoled
Hello,
Is there any documention on "xenconsoled" ?
(I have installed xen from source)
/usr/sbin/xenconsoled --help
Usage: /usr/sbin/xenconsoled [-h] [-V] [-v] [-i]
What do the different options mean?
Should xenconsoled always be running, even when no "xm console" commands
are active? I killed it in error, but now need to know how to start it
with it''s default

Editing fail2ban page?
In https://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/Fail2Ban, for a current (I know for
a fact in 2.2.36) I believe it should be
filter = dovecot
instead of
filter = dovecot-pop3imap
[root at mail ~]# ls -l /etc/fail2ban/filter.d/doveco*

Maintain VNC session across reboots?
Hello,
I have Ubuntu installed as a domU on the debian dom0, and connect via VNC
in dom0. This is great for doing installs, and seeing the console
output. However
the VNC session doesn''t seem to keep the active connection during a domU reboot.
Has anyone got this working?
If so, how?

Variable interpolation in class parameters
Hi,
In class parameters, things like x="x", y="y${x}" don''t always evaluate
right (y="yx"), seems random. I''m using 2.7.1

$logfoldera = "${homex}/logs",

migrating/cloning 2.2 > 2.3?
I have 2.2 installation on Centos 7, and, I'm trying to setup a new
server, and, 'clone' existing setup: Dovecot/Postfix/Mysql
on new Centos 7 installed from RPM 2.3.4.1 (3c0b8769e)
I then copied/overwrote from old to new /etc/dovecot/*.conf (but not
conf.d files), created self certs in place of old server certs
and, started Dovecot
is that totally dumb, and, how should I do this,

performance problems with {s,m}dbox
using rc3 and with the latest pigeonhole, I had problems with dovecot
(deliver) keeping up with high volumes of E-mail. I tried sdbox, mdbox, and
cyrdir all with similar (failed) result. using the
default Maildir I had no problems. I did not try mbox. The problems seemed
to happen when there were multiple deliver's running to the same folder I
had defined in my sieve rules, either it would

Re: [Xen‑users] Should I use HVM?
Your decision on what platform to go with depends on your requirements
of course.
Some observations from my end:
Running a non-HVM platform limits you currently to OS where the OS
itself has been para-virtualized. An HVM-enabled platform enables your
future for changes that you may not have planned for at this time.
Also, keep in mind that as you look at the management tools available

Bug: Creating mbox folders
Hey,
I had trouble this morning creating a folder to contain sub-folders. I
am using the mbox format. Turns out that the .imap directory in the new
folder (directory) was not being created. Anytime I tried to view a
sub-folder (using Thunderbird) dovecot would dump. Once I manually
created the .imap directory, it works fine.

rc7 bug? [Was: deliver LDA and INBOX location] (fwd)
Anyone had any thoughts on the item below?
If the problem is with my config, I'd like to be guided towards how I
might resolve it.
If it is a bug in rc7, it would be good to fix it, and I'd be happy to
beta-test.

doveconf complains No matches on !include conf.d/* line but still writes out contents in conf.d
Further investigation shows that `doveconf` called
`/usr/lib/dovecot/managesieve` which in return calls `doveconf` again,
but with another uid (possible? I'm not sure) and a few extra arguments,
which causes a call to `glob` in
`src/config/config-parser.c:settings_include` to fail with `GLOB_NOMATCH`.
I'd be appreciate if anyone can provide information on suspicious
