0.99.10-test1
http://dovecot.procontrol.fi/test/ Maildir syncing now works pretty much as described in my earlier mail. It was quite a large change, so please test this :) So the new and great features: - It's faster. - If someone renames maildir file just before we try to use it, we now resync the maildir and try to find it again. Before we just failed. It's also possible that the filename changed

OT: Looking for a robust IMAP client
This weekend we had a runaway email endless loop. When it was killed after 18 hours, my inbox had 135,000 messages in it...there were two messages that were being endlessly sent and bounced and I'm on the postmaster alias. Thunderbird was able to do a mass select of one of the two messages, and deleted 65,000, but after that it locked up. I ended up firing up Pine to do the final

NFS mounted IMAP dirs
Hi list, I am trying to build an email system that is using multiple frontends, to a clustered backend using nfs. The backend mounts his filesystems from a central storage, and will be running active-active. While reading through the dovecot documentation, I read that I could do without indexes (well: use memory indexes), and could then be able to run dovecot over NFS. Well: that was until

Auto creating client folders on the IMAP server after installing client.
Hello, could someone help. I have installed Dovecot+SSL+TLS+Thunderbird and all is well except one thing. After installing TBird and adding the required data (smtp server and auth info, imap/pop server and auth info) I am able to view mail in my TBird Inbox BUT Trash and Sent don't work - it pops up saying folder doesn't exist on the server - can't the darn thing, auto create a folder

Customflags problem?
I'm new here, but I'll just jump right in. I've been using Dovecot with Fedora for a bit with the default mbox format. I recently transitioned to the Maildir format since some users were getting mailboxes in excess of 1GB in size, which made expunging and flagging no easy task. Anyway, it appears now with Maildir, that customflags are "added" instead of

No auto-conversion of .customflags?
Hello, I'm in the process of migrating 0.99 dovecot maildir boxes to a pair of new machine. These servers were running the stable (etch) 1.0rc15 package of dovecot until yesterday and existing .customflags files were correctly converted to dovecot-keywords. Yesterday I upgraded to the (finally, thanks to who did this) 1.0.0 etch backports package and since then freshly migrated boxes get

windows imap clients
All, This is slightly OT, but I figure a bunch of folks running IMAP servers should have some strong opinions on the topic. While working on a migration to Dovecot, I had the opportunity to move one account to a server running same. This is an in-house billing department box that 3-4 people share. In theory, this should work well - all the billing folks see the same email, save sent mail

customflags considered a folder?
Hello, i just switched from courier-imap to dovecot on a machine. The transition was painless except for one issue - when using the "Check mail" feature of kmail, one gets the message: "Unable to get information about folder customflags. The server replied: internal error..." So it looks like the server isn't properly hiding the .customflags file for some reason. I

Manual creation of machine trust and comments on Samba books
I just receive a copy of the official samba 3 howto, to be honest i'm rather disapoint with the content and layout. Well with free online version, i can't complaint, but with 'paid' version maybe i can complain to the author :-). Most of the contents are still the old documentation with few 'little' updation for samba3. Imo, its better if it can be rewrite from scratch

Upgrade from 0.99.x to 1.1.x
Hi! I want to upgrade a Dovecot installation from 0.99.14 to 1.1.15, so I had a look at the following wiki article: http://wiki.dovecot.org/Upgrading?action=show&redirect=UpgradingDovecot The article http://wiki.dovecot.org/Upgrading/1.0 says something about .customflags -> dovecot-keywords and .subscriptions -> subscriptions change/conversion:

customflags and keywords
OK. After checking the 0.99->1.0 migration documentation, it seems I've been a little confused between customflags and keywords. (Though this is partly due to my repeated requests for clarification being ignored.) The page (http://wiki.dovecot.org/moin.cgi/UpgradingDovecot) says 1.0 does not use .customflags any more. Now, I'm hoping they're still supported, in which case

Thunderbird slow in talking with dovecot IMAP AND to sendmail
I'm trying to find out what's causing this slowdown -- it's INTOLERABLE.... over 1 minute and less than 1% done. (400MB file)... After trying 3 times, I gave up and logged in using X to the server and ran Tbird from there.... Mail sent out in < 1 minute, though the copy to dovecot took about 50% longer. So... I looked at the network trace. and everyfrackin' body was

IMAP flags and dovecot-keywords not working as expected
I've converted most of our users from Outlook to Thunderbird. One important feature of Thunderbird is that it pays attention to the IMAP non-standard message flags via the 'tags' feature (see http://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/Maildir). This is important because 2 users make extensive use of Outlook categories (Tags, in Thunderbird). I found that when I set a message to the 1st

IMAP Folder Creation
I am using Maildir with dovecot 0.99.14-1 and postfix. My IMAP server was working where I could create a folder in Kmail or Thunderbird and specify wether the folder was to hold messages or folders. Then something changed, and I lost all my folders that contained sub-folders. And now I cannot create folders that contain subfolders (Kmail doesn't event give the option anymore). I can
