Hi Aki and Remo,
switch from vpopmail driver to SQL driver (if you are using vpopmail
with mysql as backend) is very simple.
First you need to setup the right query for vpopmail database:
# cat /etc/dovecot/dovecot-sql.conf.ext
### Vpopmail
driver = mysql
connect = host=192.168.1.2 dbname=vpopmail user=vpopmail password=Vp0pM4iL
default_pass_scheme = MD5-CRYPT
### Query to get a list of all

Panic: IMAP: Trying to allocate 2273345672 bytes
Hi, we're running dovecot 1.1.2 (centos5 32-bit rpm from atrpms) havn't
had any real issues with it, but today it looks like an index has become
badly corrupted. We're seeing this in the logs every time we log in to a
particular account:

help: "dovecot: pipe() failed: Too many open files"
Dear All,
I'm having an intermittent problem, with dovecot slowing to a crawl.
Restarting dovecot fixes the problem.
Looking at the maillog, I see loads of these errors....
dovecot: pipe() failed: Too many open files
dovecot: Temporary failure in creating login processes, slowing down for now
dovecot: Created login processes successfully, unstalling
looking at the processes, I can see

vpopmail/mysql/quota
Hi All,
I'm new to the list and have a quota question. I am building a new server
with dovecot/qmail/vpopmail/mysql and
emails are sending and recieving fine when the quota is set to NOQUOTA, but
when the quota is changed qmail
doesn't deliver any messages. I have read the docs and still need some help
understanding the process for dovecot
quotas relating to the vpopmail mysql database

Poor pop3 over nfs performance
Hi,
About a week ago I upgraded our reasonably heavily loaded mail servers
from a pretty recent courier version to dovecot-1.1rc10. IMAP
performance on dovecot is amazing, however POP3 performance is worse
than courier :-( I have uploaded some munin graphs taken today to
http://linweb.atlas.pipex.net/dovecot/; the dovecot server is handling
about 2000 pop logins/sec and 300 imap sessions (but

dovecot lda aliases doesn't work
Hi,
I am trying to use dovecot as lda.
I have put this line in my .qmail-default file:
#|/var/qmail/bin/preline -f /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/dovecot-lda -d
$EXT@$USER
It is working correct with real addresses but couldn't find forwarding
addresses.
This is my /usr/local/etc/dovecot-sql.conf:
driver = mysql
connect = host=localhost user=vpopmailuser password=vpopmailpassword

Qmail+Vpopmail+Mysql+Dovecot 2.x (Notes on a successful conversion)
SoI had a hell of a time converting my qmail install to dovecot 2.0.5,
so I thought I'd pass on what I learned.
1. When using vpopmail, do not use " --disable-many-domains". If you
do, you'll need to recompile vpopmail without that setting and use the
script found at
http://qmailrocks.thibs.com/downloads/scripts/migrate-vpopmail-many-domains
to collapse the tables.

Unbreakable NFS locking issues...
Hello All,
We are struggling to find a solution to a problem we are encountering
with a load-balanced email setup. Currently, we have a Coyote loadbalancer,
and 3 Postfix/Dovecot nodes that then get their information from a mysql
database. The problem is that after a couple weeks, we start seeing NFS
locking issues occur, which then takes email completely down, requiring a
site visit to

So I am on of the many users with qmail, and using vpopmail auth, I guess chatting with some other guys in the other mailing list we will convert to mysql driver but this is a lot of work for many people.
I do understand dropping things out but a valid solutions needs to be proposed.

New to list, got a quota question
Hello folks -
I'm running dovecot on top of qmail/vpopmail/mysql, serving up about
2500 mailboxes. Everything is running very smooth and fast.... I
recently upgraded dovecot to 1.1, so I'm trying to implement some extra
features like IMAP quotas.
I'm using the sql passdb, with the following config:
driver = mysql
connect = host=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock user=username

vpopmail
Hello list,
I run Dovecot with the vpopmail driver and have found that it
authenticates against the clear text password in the vpopmail database.
Is there a configuration option either at compile time, link time, or a
setting in one of the configuration files that tells the program to
authenticate against the hash instead of the clear text?

proxy logging
Hi, I'm testing dovecot 1.1.beta14 on two debian etch with
drbd+ocfs2[active/active], I use qmail+vpopmail(userdb) and three
front-end with openbsd 4.2 with dovecot 1.1.beta14 as proxy with passdb
sql through vpopmail database.
Is posible to add logs into vpopmail.vlog from proxys?, like "update
vlog blah blah..." or in other sql database?
I tried with post login scripting but I
