function before_save
Hi everybody
I would like a function as the "before_save" method in the model. But it
must be the opposite. When I take out data from the database through the
model, I want to call a function before the data are available in the
controller.
Can anyone help me?

I use the following code in my view:
<%= collection_select(''datedata'', ''date'', @allDate, :id, :date) %>
It''s show me the date of all entries in the database (Dropdown menu).
Additional, I wrote a helper method "showDate" in the

collection_select for every date entry?

UK Pound Signs being handled as \243?
Hello,
It seems like something has recently caused ? symbols to be displayed as
\243
on our FreeBSD 6 server. We think this is causing our rails-based payment
system to fail to process transactions which is obviously very bad for us!
Why / How would this start happening? The server is configured to use UK ISO
keyboard map and it was working fine until recently. I''m at a loss to

Testing CRUD/Rest Controllers
I have a few simple controllers doing plain, simple crud in a standard way.
now it''s not very DRY to write a funtcional test for each controller, since
they are all doing the same (apart from a few variable names, but that could
be easily inflected or so).
is there a way to do this?
e.g. does inheritance work with tests, so i define a base test first,
inherit my other tests and add a few

which will tell me the number of elements in a table? also, maybe more
importantly, where are the available methods on tables documented?
What i am trying to do is to increment the id and work through a table
and check whether the id i am currently

Better way to count Active Record Data?
I am trying to get hourly counts of orders between different price
ranges from my database. I''m thinking there has got to be a better way
than looping through each record and checking if the created_at time
fits between hour 1, 2, 3, 4, etc of the day and then returning the
count.
Currently I am displaying just a total of the days sales that are
between different dollar amounts this

How to cap table with active record
We want to use SQL/active record for logging but limit the table size
so that older messages disappear off of the table Some process has to
run periodically to do that.
Suppose I want to keep my table size to not much bigger than
50,000,000 rows or so. What is the easiest, most efficient way to
delete any extra rows that there may be ? This is an SQL/active record
