dovecot 1.2-rc2 doesn't build on Solaris 10
Hi all, Timo,
When trying to build 1.2 rc2 on Solaris 10, with the same options and
compiler as what works for 1.1.13, I get the following error:

-I../../../src/lib-dict -I../../../src/lib-index -I../../../src/lib-mail

One fs with quota, one without: incorrect data shown
Hello all,
I'm using Dovecot 1.0.15 on a Solaris 10.
There are two different FS in place for IMAP:
/var/mail for inbox
/export/home for the mail folders
The first doesn't have quota, the second does.
However, I've noticed that Thunderbird does display quota information on
the inbox (that doesn't make any sense, the values are incorrect).
The same incorrect values are shown for

Building Dovecot with OpenLDAP break PAM LDAP on Solaris
Hi all,
I'm back with more data on a problem Iposted about one month ago.
To sum it up, my Solaris 10 box has local accounts as well as LDAP ones
via PAM. They work well as-is, with no special configuratio, for WU IMAP
(using the ?other? entry in pam.conf.
When I tried a self-built Dovecot, all accounts were authenticated
without problem. Then I tried the Blastwave version, same release,

Separate quotas not displayed correctly
Hello all,
My system is set up to have quotas both on /var/mail, where emails are
received, and on /export/home, where users' homedirs are.
But the client (Thunderbird) shows the same /export/home values both for
the Inbox and for the folders in the homedir, so a user cannot know
where she stands on her /var/mail use.
This is Dovecot 1.1.5. As per the wiki, the dovecot.conf file contains

Using Dovecot with nsswitch for LDAP on Solaris
Hello all,
I'm having some issues configuring dovecot 1.0.10 on a Solaris 10 box,
that uses LDAP?for its accounts.
The local accounts (in /etc/passwd) are authenticated properly and work
as expected, but all accounts from the LDAP fail authentication.
Those are declared for the system using PAM and NSS (/etc/pam.conf and
/etc/nsswitch.conf are configured accordingly).
Currently, there are

Panic in 1.1.6 file ioloop.c: line 206
Hi all,
I just had a panic with dovecot 1.1.6, two days after replacing 1.0.15
with it in production.
Here are the logs immediately preceding the panic, I think they're
related. It seems the user connected simultaneously from two different
clients, from his own computer and a webmail running on the server, then
manipulated mail folders on one side, and logged out. The panic occurred

v1.1.7 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/1.1/dovecot-1.1.7.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/1.1/dovecot-1.1.7.tar.gz.sig
I should have released this earlier since v1.1.6 had that annoying
startup problem, but surprisingly few people complained about it so I
kind of forgot about it then.
BTW. v1.2 progresses nicely. Now that shared mailboxes are finally fully
supported, there aren't any widely used IMAP

.mailboxlist -> .subscriptions
I've mostly finished a conversion from an old Centos 3 UW-Imap server to
a new Centos 6 dovecot server. I did not copy the old ~/.mailboxlist
file to ~/mail/.subscriptions file, but notice some users have the
latter file now. These are all mbox folders on the old and new server.
I'm getting ready to do the same to another old/new pair of servers and
I'm wondering if there is an

client cannot list subfolders
Hi,
I'm having a problem with the Sylpheed mail client and dovcot
1.0.rc15. Sylpheed does not like how dovecot is returning LIST output
so it cannot see subfolders.
Note: Sylpheed 2.4 actually works with the same server so apparently
something in a newer version of Sylpheed has changed.
This is some dialog with the Sylpheed mailing list:

Questions still about a uw-imap -> dovecot conversion
The more I read about all of this, the more I'm thinking about moving to
maildir format. My switchover this weekend is full of holes due to the
way user's imap folders were laid out. Some had folders in their home
directory and others might have folders in their /home/mail directory.
Some how, Horde/Imp seemed to keep track of it. Dovecot is not doing so
well.

I am using dovecot-1.0.rc15 wth LDAP authentication configured. My

While logging in, Horde gives `Unable to retrieve quota' message,
instead of the usage report. capability string is:

Some of my IMAP Folders vanished in some MUAs
Hi,
I'm using dovecot for some time now. Previously I was using Courier and I've
migrated this setup to dovecot which went pretty fine.
Now I'm experiencing some strange behaviour when using some newer mail
clients. Some of my Folders, like "spam", are vanished.
The strange point is that it only happens in some clients, like Thunderbird
2.x+ or KMail 3.5.x. In others,

upgrade from version 1.0.3 to version 1.0.7
Im working on upgrading to dovecot-1.0.7 from version 1.0.3 which I
installed using yum. I backed up my init.d stuff so everything still
works. However, when I shutdown my old dovecot version and start the
new, I get an empty mailbox when logging into mail. My current config
for dovecot.conf on version 1.0.3 has this for my mailbox
location:mail_location = mbox:~/:INBOX=/var/mail/%u

Background:
We are a UW-IMAP shop, using mbox format. (!)
We are in the process of upgrading to Dovecot, hopefully to 1.0 proper. :)
One of the modifications we have been using in test versions of Dovecot
involve the move of the user subscription file from:
IMAP-root/.subscriptions
to:
$HOME/.mailboxlist
Rather than having to make changes to Dovecot source code each time a new

IMAP Folder paths
Hello,
we like to use dovecot, but our old imapd used to store the paths of the
folder in the file ~/.mailboxlist. This file contains something like
this:
mail/read
mail/dovecot
.netscape/imap/mailbox
.Mail/foo
Each line with a path to one mbox folder. And please pay attention that
there is no path to the inbox, because this is stored on the server...
Is there a way to use this

IMP 4
Dear All,
anyone installed IMP4 on Centos 4.1 yet, http://www.horde.org/imp/4.0/
if so what problems did you have, I have a webmail server I am going to
upgrade to Centos 4.1 and Imp 4 from its current centos 3.3
implementation and imp3
This is going to be a labour intensive manual task, and I wondered if
anyone else out there was mad enough to have tried it already....

Dovecot losing .mailboxlist files
Hello!
I am running a site that has two servers, 10 000 users in both, Solaris
9 and home directories with mbox mailboxes shared with NFS.
Indexes are kept separately in both server, on local disks, both servers
are serving imap (from NFS mboxes).
We are trying to convert from uw-imap to dovecot.
Servers are currently running on their limits and now i have mysterious

0.99.11 (CentOS4 or RHEL4) to 1.0.rc7 upgrade folder issue
[Sending this again from the email account that I actually have
subscribed to the list - hopefully won't be a dup...]
We have been running dovecot-0.99.11-2.EL4.rpm on CentOS4 (since that's
the latest that ships with RHEL/CentOS) for a while. Aalso in parallel,
we have been running various 1.0 betas and RCs on a different port for
a different set of more test-tolerant users.
