IMAP Folder Creation
I am using Maildir with dovecot 0.99.14-1 and postfix. My IMAP server was working where I could create a folder in Kmail or Thunderbird and specify wether the folder was to hold messages or folders. Then something changed, and I lost all my folders that contained sub-folders. And now I cannot create folders that contain subfolders (Kmail doesn't event give the option anymore). I can

Creating IMAP folders/subfolders with Thunderbird
Hi, I have dovecot-2.2.15 on fedora21 with Thunderbird and having some difficulty creating subfolders and deleting folders. Creating subfolders results in a folder at the root with a caret instead of a slash called folder^subfolder with an entry in .subscriptions with that name, instead of a new folder under the directory. I'm also unable to delete any folders. The command from within

IMAP Folders
Hi all, We're using the mbox format and I tried setting up IMAP on my boss's computer tonight. He likes subfolders, and although they work, he can't seem to remove subfolders once he created them, nor create new folders without using something other than his mail client (like mkdir from the command line). Any ideas on this? Does dovecot just not officially support IMAP and

How to see folders/subfolders/emails through imap
Hello all, I am trying to do something very simple - at least thats what I thought. I have some fs, it contains folders and subfolders with email files ordered like maildir. Now I try to set up dovecot on top simply to let some imap account watch these email files. But I cannot see any folders at all. I can create new folders and see them, but I cannot create subfolders as subdirs like

moving folders bug - rc4
I am fairly new to dovecot... I had a user who in outlook tried to move one of the folders into another folder but it crapped out. User tried to move "Djans*" folders into Koi folder. The subscription seems to show the folder move but the actual data is still under ".ClickEats.Clients.Djans" instead of ".ClickEats.Clients.Koi.Djans*. How do I fix this? Thanks. root at

IMAP directory structure.
Hello, I use Dovecot 2.1.7. and like to know how to force the IMAP directory structure to be: The IMAP server's desired directory structure is: root at server-2:/var/vmail/c5ace.com/test/Maildir# /.INBOX /.INBOX.Archives /.INBOX.Drafts /.INBOX.Junk /.INBOX.Sent /.INBOX.Templates /.INBOX.Trash and to prevent the mail clients like Thunderbird, Claws Mail, etc. to add additional out of tree

Cannot delete IMAP Mail-Folder in Trash
We have the same problem, with a twist. When Thunderbird deletes a folder, it is still shown by the GUI. Dovecot deleted the folder correctly, and the sunscriptions file is also correct. Some other times, on shared folders, Thunderbird refuses to delete; in this case, apple mail on iphone can delete successfully. This suggests that the problem is in Thunderbird's code. Unable to delete folder in public namespace
I use public namespace for group mailboxes. Users are able to create subfolders , but its impossible to delete them. thunderbird 2.0.0.21 complains: "Cant' rename mailbox to another storage type", both namespaces (private and public) use same storage type, so I believe that it's a namespace problem. Is there any way to move folders between namespaces? Or maybe sieve script or

Can't create subfolders of my INBOX or delete folders with IMAP
Hi, I've been using the dovecot IMAP server for about a year now, and basically it works. But there's an annoying problem, that I can't make any subfolders. I can only make folders that are at the same level as my INBOX folder. Worse, I can't delete folders once I've created them. I'm using Debian unstable on both the server machine and my client machine. The

Failed IMAP Login Attempts in Logs
I had a user telling me that they can't login to the Postfix email server via Webmail (RoundCube) and I decided to see if I could locate this issue in the logs and understand if the user was simply using a wrong password credential and or something more serious. More than likely the person is just using a wrong password but in search of this on my logs, I don't understand why Dovecot

Thunderbird IMAP woes
Hi, I'm a new dovecot user. We've actually just migrated our email system from Courier-IMAP to Dovecot (2.0 rc5) cause we were choking on IO and resources, and dovecot's cache and indexing really seems to help, not to mention the awesome amount of options, tweaks, and extra features, so far, I'm lovin' it. However, we're having a few issues with Thunderbird and I

mbox, hierarchical folders/folders and IMAP
Hello, I'm now dealing with funny problem. I try to use Dovecot (2.1.rc1, actually) and mbox format to store old mailing, to keep logic of "one folder = one file". If I'd choose Maildir, I'd be able to create hierarchical folders (like "OldMail -> Maillists -> Dovecot"), and in fact on disk such a folders would be stored as real folders with dots in

Can't remove folder (no thunderbird issue)
Hi, first of all: yes, I already dug the internet but didn't find a solution - that's why I'm asking you. My provider uses dovecot, although I can't tell you more about the version - sorry. Mail is stored in mbox format. My trouble: I was unable to create subfolders and googled a bit. A proposed solution was to append a slash at the end of the folder name. I used Thunderbird to
