[patch] Basic HTTP Proxy Authentication
Hi all,
I have put together a patch for supporting "Basic" HTTP
Proxy Authentication. The patch changes the interpretation
of the RSYNC_PROXY environment variable so that the syntax
user:pass@proxy.foo:port
may be used instead of just
proxy.foo:port
(the old syntax is of course still supported).
The patch has only been tested lightly, but it should(TM)
work.
The patch (and

Feature request: Force leave copy on server
It would be very nice, if I could force users to leave a copy on the
server when using POP3. This is because users primarily use a web
interface to access mail (the web interface uses IMAP), but users can
also download messages using POP3.
Users who forget to set the "Leave copy on server" get all their
messages deleted in the web interface, and mostly they don't want

IMAP messages not being marked read
I recently moved from Fedora 13 to Fedora 14 and consequently to dovecot
2.0.8. Since then, I have observed that messages are not being marked as read
in all cases. The general behavior is:
1. Use my mail client to read all unseen messages. All mail folders show no
messages unread.
2. Tell mail client to check for new mail.
3. Mail client now says that some folders have new mail (1 or more

Dovecot: Mails flagged as read get flagged as unread
Hi Steffen
Thanks for the reply!
- Users are accessing from multiple devices simultaneously
- Each user has his own mailbox, we do not use shared mailboxes

Patch: New event "mailbox_create" for the mail_log plugin
Hello,
the following patch for the mail_log plugin (source version = 1.2.13) adds a new logging event "mailbox_create".
Perhaps this is also of interest to other people except me ;)
Best regards,
Tobias

File attributes issue
HiWe have two Windows servers (one active, one standby) that we keep in sync by using ROBOCOPY to do a differential copy every night. The options make sure that only new or altered files are transferred, and deleted ?master? files also is deleted on the standby server.
Now I want to relocate a couple of shares from the active server to a Samba 4.20 server. The shares are up and working as they

Logging commands
Hello all,
is there a way to make dovecot log the commands it gets from its
clients both in imap and pop3? I need to log when messages are
deleted so I can tell to the customer when and from which IP address
his/her mailbox was emptied.
I'm trying to track down problems with M$ Windows Live Mail clients
that seem to loose messages now and then.
Luciano.

IMAP COPY creates invalid index data with zlib and mail_log plugins enabled but zlib_save off
I've noticed that maildir IMAP COPY commands can generate invalid
dovecot.index entries when all seven of the following are true:
- The zlib plugin is enabled;
- The zlib_save/zlib_save_level options are NOT enabled;
- The source message being copied is compressed;
- The mail_log plugin is logging "copy" events;
- The mail_log_fields setting includes at least one message header;

Hi,
after upgrading to 2.2.14 (debian wheezy with apt source from rename-it.nl) I?ve got from time to time a panic in virtual plugin. Here are an excerpt from the log file:

passwd-file, getting invalid uid 0
Per my earlier post about system and virtual users, I have everything working, but I'm seeing the
following message, and wondering:
1) does it matter?
2) is there a way to suppress it?
I have an Exim /etc/aliases entry that sends root to me.

2.3.1 with quota and lmtp; message may be sent more than once
Hi,
I have another problem with dovecot 2.3.1 on FreeBSD (smtpd is postfix

limit of one user is exceeded, the message will be delivered repeatedly
to all users. The queue from postfix says:

sending end of data -- message may be sent more than once)

Logging subjects of messages
Dear Sirs,
I want to know if there is any possibility to log the subjects of the messages downloaded from ther server. We use dovecot 1.0.15 with POP3S and IMAP and we want to keep a trace of the reading of messages by the users of our mail server (who, when and what are the subjects of the? e-mail messages read) because some users complain that they did not read some messages but in the logs of
