userdb didn't return a home directory with v1.1.7
Hi all, I am running Dovecot v1.1.7 in a relatively quiet and calm environment. Suddenly overnight cron job has started throwing out errors like: /usr/sbin/dovecot --exec-mail ext /usr/lib/dovecot/expire-tool Error: userdb(user1 at mail.example) didn't return a home directory Error: userdb(user2 at mail.example) didn't return a home directory Indeed, running this command produces:

Expire plugin with Mysql
Hey guys, got a question about the expire plugin. According to the wiki, the expire plugin "keeps an internal database (Berkeley DB or SQL)". I was wondering what fields in the mysql table are needed for expire to work. I assume it is setup is similar to the quota dict setup, so was just wondering what fields are required (i.e: select_field, where_field, username_field, for quota).

Dovecot crashing when attempting to search in virtual folder with fts_squat activated
Hi everyone, I am running into a problem when trying to use fts_squat in a virtual folder. Without fts_squat plugin the search (from, subject...) works in all folders. With activated fts the search on the inbox folders works expectedly well but any attempt to search anything in any virtual folder leads to the following error. Similarly when attempting "doveadm fts lookup". I also

Dovecot crashing when attempting to search in virtual folder with fts_squat activated
fts_squat was deprecated in 2.1. There's a high likelihood it is buggy in a variety of ways in any recent Dovecot release. michael > On March 20, 2019 at 1:21 PM Benjamin Godbersen via dovecot <dovecot at dovecot.org> wrote: > > Hi everyone, > > I have now updated to dovecot 2.3.4.1 - unfortunately the issue still persists. fts squat non-english search for 2 words
Hello, It looks I encoutered a bug or misconfiguration. fts_squat search for subject and body works excellent for English mails. For non-English (in particular, Russian) it works only when query consists of 1 word. Phrases - 2 and more words - always returns nothing. Example: search for "planet" ("???????") returns results, search for "Earth" ("?????") also

expire-tool and userdb returned mail location
Hello, I'm having problems with expire-tool in Dovecot 1.2.6 not finding the mailboxes. I had mail_location = mbox:/var/spool/dovecotmail/%d/%n/mails:INDEX=/var/spool/dovecotmail/%d/%n/indexes in dovecot.conf, but that doesn't work with expire-tool. So I commented that out from dovecot.conf, all the data is in a database anyway. A userdb lookup returns the following for userid at

NFS performance and 1.1.3 - what can you (unofficially) get away with?
Hi, Does anyone have experience with bending the NFS recommendations to get better performance? The question is has anyone, with Maildir and the INDEX= on NFS (i.e. dovecot.index and dovecot.index.cache, set mail_nfs_index to no. If so, was it better to turn maildir_copy_preserve_filename to on or did it help to turn if off. The other question is did you play with turning off atime updates

doveadm "-S <socket_path>" option enabled in 2.0.8?
I apologize if this is a stupid question but I just compiled 2.0.8 and am trying to use doveadm to get the quota for a user using the -S <socket_path> option because I have different options for the various local IPs that dovecot listens on. For example, my default quota is filesystem (NFS rquota) and I can get that by doing: doveadm quota get -u warden which tells me: Quota name
