Total lockup caused by Shift-{print screen}
I just had the misfortune to press Shift-{print screen} accidentally while in a Gnome desktop, and the result was a completely unresponsive system where the only recovery was a power switch initiated shutdown. Further investigation shows the runaway creation of gnome-screenshot processes. System is CentOS 5.2 fully updated on an Intel i686. Suggestions about what component should receive the

Also, the driver-driver should be in the sources that they're using even still.

[LLVMdev] llvm-gcc and -march
So my original post subject was for -march, but that was my mistake. The command line option is -arch. Since presumably Macports is just fetching an llvm tar ball from some repository, is the issue that llvm has been misconfigure in some obvious way? Yes, I can take a look at the driverdriver.c source file as well. Should this also be working in LLVM 2.9 or is the latest SVN also needed? On

LUKS question
I have existing systems with un-encrypted disks. I have tried unsuccessfully to encrypt them using LUKS. Has anyone out there been able to encrypt an existing system (after the fact, so to speak)? Updating PXE documentation for CentOS wiki
I was just looking at the CentOS Wiki at https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/PXE/PXE_Setup, and it's pretty seriously out of date. It neglects the existence of the "syslinux-tftpboot" RPM, and the hand editing of xinetd config files for tftpd ignores the availability of "chkconfig" and "service" to manage that service. For more sophisticated users, it doesn't

My question is how do I completely wipe this program from my computer. I have tried to manually find

feature request: undeletable folders
Hello, as we all know from the big webmail-services like hotmail.com, yahoo.com, web.de and so on, several folders exist and nobody can remove them for a good reason, because some services rely on them: Trash, Junk, Sent. Can can't remove Trash, because every deleted message is just moved here. You can't remove Junk, because all messages recognized as spam is moved here. And you

Deleting undeletable files gives no error
I have an odd problem that involves clients deleting files they should not be able to delete, and claiming success, but then the files "come back" again. Here's the setup: I have a filesystem that contains a file "foobar.txt" owned by user "test", group "test". Permissions on this file are 644, permissions on the enclosing directory are 777. I share

Undeletable objects in AD
Hello, after migration from a NT style domain to Samba AD (running 4.7.8) with the classicupgrade method I have two group objects in the AD tree with german umlauts which I can't access or delete. When I try I get a error which says literally "object not found on the server". Same when using other LDAP tools. It's not a great problem, but how can I get rid of this two group

btrfs-undelete shell-script
Hi, I tried to recover an accidentally deleted text file from a btrfs volume using the trusty old ''grep --text -C 500'' method and failed, since the filesystem was compressed. So I wrote a shell script that uses btrfs-progs for a proper undelete functionality. Attached is the script that implements a working btrfs-undelete using the find- root and restore tools from

Hi All, On my two-DC setup (dc00 and dc01 - Used to be a 4-Dc setup but 02 and 03 are gone), I've noticed the following errors which I am unable to fix.. Any hints? * Basic dbcheck is clean. [root at dc00 ~]# samba-tool dbcheck Checking 327 objects Checked 327 objects (0 errors) * Cross-NCS shows two errors related to a de-comissionned DC (dc02) and cannot auto-fix this.. How do I fix
