Apple patches 11-14
These are the last patches for now, and they're small. The base for each of them is dovecot-1.1.7 + Apple patches 9 and 10, again not because of a logical dependency but just because these patches change parts of the earlier patches. Patch #11 adds a few dtrace providers to key points in the code. We are still validating the correct placement and usefulness of these. One cool

1.0.10 - Getting user-quota from an Apple Open Directory?
Hello.... I'm running dovecot 1.0.10 with users in an LDAP database (Apples Open Directory). In Open Directory, a users mail-info is saved as XML-formated data in the field apple-user-mailattribute as seen below. I want to extract the value key "kUserDiskQuota". Nay ideas on how to accomplish this? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <dict>

Apple patches 1-5
Here are the first few simple patches from Apple, based on dovecot-1.1.7. The comments with "APPLE" in them helped us merge in your new releases; feel free to remove them. Please let me know if you want subsequent patches in a different format, or if you have any questions. Patch #1. Some versions of Mac OS X have buggy CMSG_* macros. -------------- next part -------------- A

Apple patches 6-8
Here are a few more patches. Still keeping it easy for now. Again the basis for these patches is dovecot-1.1.7. Patch #6. Solve a cross-compilation endianness issue. Currently, Dovecot assumes that the endianness of the build system is the same as the endianness of the runtime system. This is not necessarily true. We ran into this while compiling for i386 on a ppc machine. The

Suggestion: deliver should honor mail_log_prefix
I can set the log prefix for imap/pop3 processes using mail_log_prefix but the log prefix for deliver is hard-coded. (I'm using 1.1.13.) Deliver should either honor mail_log_prefix or have its own setting (deliver_log_prefix?). What do you think?

Samba4 and NVSv4
Short story: cannot get Kerberized NFSv4 to work. I've googled a great deal and cannot find where I have goofed (and there sure is a lot of misleading and just plain incorrect information out there), so would appreciate another pair of eyes. NFSv4 without Kerberos does work fine, as does ID mapping. We're using NFSv4 in production with sec=sys, but I'm not happy with that. My

Corrupted index cache files
I see these errors more often than I'd like from Dovecot-1.1.2 on Mac OS X 10.5.4 (names and numbers elided): Corrupted index cache file %s: Corrupted virtual size for uid=%d: %d ! = %d Corrupted index cache file %s: Broken virtual size for mail UID %d Corrupted index cache file %s: used_file_size too large How bad are these? What should I look for to find out why they happen? Other

FreeBSD 7.0 + Xen 3.1 + HVM: Success!
Just thought I'd pass along that I have successfully installed FreeBSD 7.0 into a Xen 3.1 HVM. ?This one went as smooth as I expected, considering my experience with 6.3. ?Haven't done any benchmarking or stress testing or port installs or anything. ?But so far it's working nicely. Here's all the info. ?If you'd like to see anything else, let me know. Host hardware: ?

FreeBSD 7.0-RC3 (for amd64/i386 only) Available
We're doing a "mini-RC3" to encourage testing of the Highpoint driver (hptrr) backout. Testing of 7.0-RC2 showed there were problems with the driver update done between RC1 and RC2. Because it's a "mini-RC" targetted at testing of one particular thing we have not bothered with setting up FreeBSD Update. You can use the normal cvsup-and-build method of doing an update

R as a non-functional language
I'm reading Torgo (2010) *Data Mining with R*<http://www.liaad.up.pt/~ltorgo/DataMiningWithR/code.html>in preparation for a class I'll be teaching next quarter. Here's an example that is very non-functional. > pH <- c(4.5,7,7.3,8.2,6.3) > names(pH) <- c('area1','area2','mud','dam','middle') > pH area1 area2 mud dam

Referring to objects themselves
Is it possible to refer to an object from within a method, as in *this *in Java? I can't find anything about this in the documentation. Sorry if I missed it. [FreeBSD] Fix for ServerWorks HT1000 in upcoming 7.1?
Hi, I have a server (Dell PowerEdge SC1435, ServerWorks HT1000) on which I'd like to try installing FreeBSD. I've already failed to make 7.0 work on this box and was wondering if you have information about the behavior of the upcoming 7.1 on this hardware. I've been following the "HT1000 chipset errata saga" thread, and the commits by sos@ to CVS (around Jan 2008), but have

Still confused about classes
Hi, I'm still confused about how to find out what methods are defined for a given class. For example, I know that > today <- Sys.Date() will produce an object of type Date. But I'm not sure what I can do with Date objects or how I can find out. > ?Date refers me to the Date documentation page. But it doesn't tell me how, for example, to extract the current year from a

Am I wrong or is fields_for not working right in Rails 2.2.2
I may be totally wrong about what the fields_for method is supposed to do, but for some reason I thought using it scoped an object around an association. For example, I have a User class and when you''re creating a new user I want to use fields_for to add a BillingAddress to the user like so: <%- fields_for :billing_address do |billing_address_form| -%> <%= render :partial

Add apple MCX directory extensions
I'm trying to load the apple attributes and classes to samba4 using ldbmodify. I can get it to load, sort of. I keep getting errors and having to modify the file. Command I'm using: sudo ldbmodify -v -H ldap://lda.server.local -UAdministrator /home/user/apple-mcx.ldif here is the ldif that I'm loading
