Get the size of a maildir
Hello. I would like to know it a 'proper' solution exist to get the size (in MB) of a maildir. Actually, to get it, I do a 'du -sh' but I'm not sure it is a good solution. And it does not return the same value than imap-quota. Is there a command, a tool, in Dovecot to get it? There is the maildirsize but it's very difficult to get the value with a script shell and with

recalculation of maildir Quota
Hello, I intend to use maildir Quota for measurement only, not for applying restrictions. Therefore I defined rather high values. That's working as expected. Nevertheless it's not useful, because the recalculation time is to high. This takes some minutes for my own mailaccount with 250.000 mails on a NFS storage. This would be to bad, but whilst this time, the Mailclient hangs. Probably

User another userdb to sasl
Hello, I use Dovecot 1.0.12 with Postfix on FreeBSD. It works perfectly, but I have a question. My users are virtual (stocked in a MySQL database). I use SASL Dovecot authentification, and SASL uses my userdb (for POP/IMAP access). However, I would like my users have an other login/password to send email with SMTP/SASL. Or, I don't want my users use the same login/password for POP/IMAP

GETQUOTAROOT (part 2)
Hello, I'm a recent convert to dovecot from courier-imap and the performance has certainly improved. I'm running the vanilla 1.0.7 version that came with the CentOS 5.2 x86_64 distro. I've come across a similar problem that was posted by Ralf Hildebrandt earlier this year under the same subject, but that thread just seems to have died off. I'm also using per- user maildirsize

Conflict -> Dovecot + Maildrop (maildirsize)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm having some problems with quota from sql (maildir++) and dovecot + maildrop. I'm using maildrop for MDA and dovecot as IMAP server. When an e-mail arrives, maildrop calculates the quota and updates the 'maildirsize' file. When i use dovecot (webmail, thunderbird) it updates the 'maildirsize' too, overwriting it, but in a

Dovecot + Vpopmail quota issues
I can't get dovecot to ignore a certain directory/namespace when calculating quotas. I am running dovecot 1.2.16 with vpopmail configured for quotas. I use the dot (.) as my separator and my user structure is as follows: ../domain.com/user/Maildir for all the user directories I also have for each user: ../domain.com/user/Maildir/Archive which is a symlink to a NFS mounted

Chicken and egg question: passwd and cronjob
Hi all, Let's say I activate password expiration for every account (including root) for every 90 days. I understand that cronjob for root will fail when the password expires. The question is, if I setup a cronjob every 90 days to renew the root password like: echo diFficulT123 | passwd --stdin root will it work? I mean at second 1 on the 90th day, which will run first? - The cronjob to renew

maildirsize not correct
Thanks, but this is most probably different issue. My maildirsize is computed incorrectly even if I delete it completely and let dovead recompute it so expunging is not in the game. Is there any way how to track/debug the recomputation algorithm in dovecot? On Wed, Aug 24, 2016 at 12:02 AM, WJCarpenter <bill-dovecot at carpenter.org> wrote: > A long shot, but here's how I

Maildirsize file isn't updated after doing POP
Hello, I have a problem about updating Maildirsize file. It seems that the Maildirsize file is not updated after user does POP mail from his maildir. I do not want to use any quota limitation in Dovecot. I only want Dovevot to update the Maildirsize file after user retrieves his mail. The Maildirsize file is created by Postfix. Would it be possible to do like this? How can I configure it?

maildirsize having incorrect content, how to recreate/correct?
Hi List, I have (otherwise successfull) migrated a server from cyrus to dovecot (Mac OS X Server 10.5.8 to 10.6.4 [dovecotd version to be 1.1.20apple0.5]). There are ca. 300+ users of which a very small handfull (ca. 1 %) are having reported a usage size that is very different to what 'du' reports. How can I rebuild the maildirsize and why might it be wrong in the first place(?) Will the

1.1rc4 problem with maildir++ quota and POP3
Hi, it looks like there is a bug (in dovecot or in my config) with quota on maildir mailboxes when accessed via POP3. The maildirsize is not created when not already present (even after a DELE + QUIT command). The quota limit (the first line of maildirsize) is not updated if values are not in sync with those in the database. If maildirsize is present, DELE commands are correctly reported in
