id:N13388 Disable storage of messages on server when read (pop3)
Hi there
Is there any way in dovecot to disable the storage of messages on server when they are read/downloaded by the users (POP3).
The server keeps the e-mail when users tick the option on their MUA to keep (leave) messages on server.
dovecot 1.0.7
POP3 / maildir
Thanks in advance

Acl Groups
Hi all!
I have a corpus of virtual users ( user1 at domain.tld , user2 at domain.tld,
user3 at domain.tld,..., usern at domain.tld ... ) authenticated
against Active Directory.
Is it possible to group some users (virtual) and give appropriate ACLs
on a shared imap public folder using an ACL vfile?
thanks in advance

Is it possible to authenticate against Active Direcotry using the whole e-mail?
Hi all!
Is it possible to authenticate against Active Directory, using the whole
e-mail address and not
the user part (%n), so that if you support mutiple domains, all users
should authenticate with their e-mail addresses.
I use
auth_bind_userdn = DOMAIN \ %u
but somehow the *mail* attribute of Active/LDAP should be employed.
thanks in advance

getent doesnt't list group
Hi to all,
I have installed Samba+winbind+kerberos on a Ubuntu OS, configured authentication to our ads domain as member
I can list user and group using wbinfo, if I use getent I have the ADS user but not the ads group (only local group).
The problem is that samba does not recognize group in the filesystem and assign a wrong gid to the objects.
I tried to change winbind separator to \ or / but

Would you expect --perms -M--fake-super to set the file mode to the original one?
Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad to see that different people see the
issue
differently. As a followup question, what would you expect this to do:
rsync --perms --chmod g+rX -M--fake-super src dst
I would expect it to store the original permissions in the xattr, while
modifying the real file mode according to the chmod.

Thanks. This is a bit counter-intuitive to me. So how would you tell
rsync to store the original permissions in the xattr, but do not touch
the real file mode?

Microsoft outlook or outlook express and roaming profiles
Hi all,
we are using samba 2.2.6 with windows xp SP1, and roaming profiles.
We would like to have email settings (servers/usernames etc) with the roaming
profiles, but outlook (either microsoft, or express) store their settings in
a path that is not included in the profiles
we do not care about the actual emails, since the mailserver is IMAP, we only
care about settings
Has anybody

Two server certificates for two common names
Hi there!
I have two DNS records
mail1.domain.tld
mail2.domain.tld
I have issued SSL server Certificates for both my domain names.
Is it possible to tell dovecot to use both , depending on
client access;
clients using the mail1.domain.tld be served by the mail1.domain.tld
.key and .cert
and those using mail2.domain.tld be served by the mail2.domain.tld .key
and .cert
Thanks in advance

Kerberos case sensitive with Mac OS X on Samba 3.0.x
Hi List,
I'm having an issue between Samba and OS X with regards to Kerberos authentication to a Samba AD member server.
I'm using local UNIX accounts and entries in the passdb instead of Windind on the samba server, ie create account by adding
to /etc/passwd then smbpasswd -a username. From an OS X client system if I obtain a ticket for user "UserA" like

Home Directories on the fly?
Hello all,
I have a functional samba/windind file server (SLES 10) thats a member server of an Active Directory domain. I'm able to successfully resolve user and group accounts from AD. The problem I'm having is samba isn't creating home directories automatically when I try to map to a AD user share from Win XP. What I am able to do is, when I ssh into the machine with an AD user,

install sieve without any dovecot sources
Hi all
I have dovecot 1.1.16 (dovecot-1.1.16-0_94.el5 x86-64) installed on a
Red Hat Enterprise v.5.
I am already using Dovecot's deliver for virtual users local delivery
and need to install the cmusieve plugin
for the filtering capabilities.
I don't have any sources, since I installed Dovecot from a binary package.
Is there any way to install the cmusieve plugin?

FW: Kerberos case sensitive with Mac OS X on Samba 3.0.x
This was blocked with both good and bad log output due to the size limit on attachments
so I've removed the log from the successfull authentication. I think its pretty obvious
whats going on from the failed log,
thanks Andy.

Saving estimates after nested loops
Hi R-listers,
Savings regression results after a loop is straightforward. But what about when you have nested loops?
I am running a regression of the form
lm(y~1+x+M+ D[,i] + D[,j] + D[,k])
where x is the variable of interest. M and D are vectors with other covariates.
Vectors "M" and "x" are included in every regression. Then i loop over the columns of D to use all

New files and directories
Hello,
I have an annoying little issue. I am currently running Samba 2.2.5-10
as a Primary Domain Controller and have a number of shared drives with a
variety of differing users and user rights all over the place.
In my smb.conf file, I have the following share:
[emergpo]
path = /share/purchasing/emergpo
force directory mode = 0770
create mode = 0770

Thanks Dimitris!!! That's much clearer now. Still have a lot of work to

useful.

best practice backup
Hi there,
I am using tar to backup the whole system (specific directorues usr, lib, sbin, etc, var, home, root).
On bare metal recovery I install the minimal portion of the syetm and then I throw the tarballs.
Any opinions?
