vanilla build of 7.7p1 release on linux/4.17 fails with gcc8 @ "/usr/bin/ld: unrecognized option '-Wl,-z,retpolineplt'"
Also what exact distro and version are you having the problem on and what version of ld does it have? Mine is $ ld --version GNU ld version 2.29.1-23.fc28 -- Darren Tucker (dtucker at dtucker.net) GPG key 11EAA6FA / A86E 3E07 5B19 5880 E860 37F4 9357 ECEF 11EA A6FA (new) Good judgement comes with experience. Unfortunately, the experience usually comes from bad judgement.

Download links for xinput_calibrator are dead
Hello, I am a volunteer packager for the Void Linux distribution and I have noticed that xinput_calibrator's download link http://github.com/downloads/tias/xinput_calibrator/xinput_calibrator-0.7.5.tar.gz is no longer usable. It looks like all releases have been deleted from the tias/xinput_calibrator GitHub repository, which resulted in 404s. Pretty much all links in the

vanilla build of 7.7p1 release on linux/4.17 fails with gcc8 @ "/usr/bin/ld: unrecognized option '-Wl,-z,retpolineplt'"
Verifying a report I just got pinged about, building vanilla openssh 7.7p1 on linux configures ok, but fails build around 'retpoline' I've started looking through recent reports; haven't _yet_ found anything similar. While I continue, is any of the following familiar/expected? Either known bug/issue or env conflict? The current env includes supposedly retpoline-ready GCC 8.1.1,

coredump at the end of 'configure' and error for 'make'
Hi, I got some errors when I attempted to build R (R-2.6.2) on my Solaris 9 box. Can someone please provide some suggestion on what to do next? The "configure" process was fine expect that I got some warning and a coredump at the end. What does that affect? Can I still build it? ./configure --prefix=/var/tmp/R/ --with-x=no R is now configured for i386-pc-solaris2.9 Source
