Error when joining new DC
Hi,
I'm trying to upgrade my very old samba domain controllers (4.11) to latest samba. (4.21). The process I'm following is to demote on of the existing DCs and repalce it with a news system (up-to-date OS & samba version). Unfortunately when trying to join as DC I get below error:

Samba 4.19.2: "Unwilling to perform" password change
Hello All,
I have a custom built version of Samba 4.19.2 running on Rocky Linux 9.
When I attempt to change a password via LDAP, I get an error, "Unwilling to
Perform". In Google searches I found that this is due to password
complexity requirements. However, in my case, I get the error no matter
how complex the password. Also, I have the following line in my smb.conf
file:

Error when joining new DC
While resuming my testing for adding a new DC with higher Samba version I have some questions:
1. do I have to expunge tombstones on each DC or just one (and replication will remove it from others). - I think it should be run on all DCs.
2. same question for dbcheck
3. Rowland mentioned that the error message I get when trying the DC is just a result of the real issue. In which section of the

Error when joining new DC
Now I just need to find a solution how to allow dyndns updates only for the DCs and not the clients.
Reason for this is that all our servers have multiple interfaces. Although they are connecting to AD mostly via default route we have seen issues where some register with wrong interface thus creating incorrect DNS records. All the DNS records A & PTR are usually created automatically during

DNS Updates after upgrade
Hello everybody,
last weeks I started upgrading our DC from Centos 7 to Centos 8. After
having read this
(https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Upgrading_a_Samba_AD_DC#Updating_Multiple_Samba_Domain_Controllers)
and especially this "Joining a DC to domain can be a troublesome process
for some users, and it can be difficult to recover your DC if something
goes wrong". I really looked forward

Got "I have no name!" error after deleting a samba user whose username is identical to the AD user
Hi,
I am running Samba 4.3.11-Ubuntu on a cluster of Ubuntu 16.04 and Samba is
configured as an AD Server.
I got "I have no name!" error after deleting a samba user whose username is
identical to my Linux username (An AD user).
Here is how this happens:
The AD user is zhangyy (uid 12369).
1. We used `smbpasswd -a zhangyy` to created a new smb user.
2. We used `smbpasswd -x zhangyy`

No it isn't, it is configured as a Unix domain member ;-)
Also, please define 'cluster'

Got "I have no name!" error after deleting a samba user whose username is identical to the AD user
Hi,
Thanks for your quick response.
Now I come to a better understanding about Samba and how AD works.
I wonder is there any quick fix for the "I have no name!" problem. Because
I cannot login Ubuntu via SSH.
Now I have to use another user and use `su zhangyy` to use my user.
One more question, is there a proper way to let the AD user shares its home
directory on Samba using the same

[mailman-bounces@zytor.com: Uncaught bounce notification]
Hello,
Below an unusual message.
My gut feeling says "allow .efi", but haven't done further research.
Posted here for creating awareness that E-mail exchange
is not as smooth as usual.
