Article for wiki consideration
I've recently documented simple use of a VServer with CentOS host and
guest. toracat@ said that it might be worthwhile putting on the wiki.
The present article is located at
http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/vserver.html
If it does get to the wiki, I would remove the fedora section and also
add a notice at the beginning of the article with dire warnings about
using a non-stock kernel.

New to the list ... Looking for any recommendations inre: VMWare Vs. Xen
I'm new to the CentOS arena and I'm curious as to what virtualization
products are preferred?
The two main ones that I know of are Xen and VMWare. VMWare seems to be
the most capable inre: number and size of vm's allowed. When looking at
Xen it appears that since Citrix acquired them the free version is
cripple-ware and is very restrictive.
Thanks in advance for any information.

I want to contribute to the wiki
Greetings,
I just signed up on the CentOS Wiki as user ScottDowdle.
I'd like to update one page and add a new page... so when a AdminGroup user notices and has the time to do the deed, please allow me the following:
1) Update - http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/BrokenVserver
I would like to add an explanation on why some VPSes do not include yum. I'm a long time member of the

Bug#368531: Debian Xen kernel-image?
> Could you please try with a Debian kernel image
There is one? I do not find it in either etch or sid (or on
Alioth). Do I have to recompile a kernel?

Slow IMAP Auth
Hello,
I am experiencing IMAP authentication delays when a client first authenticates, or after the last auth timeout. There are only a handful of clients - less than 5 - using the server. I am using a mysql database and I have verified the PAM auth is commented out. Other than that I can't figure out what might be causing the slow authentication. The first time a client authenticates

[SOT] Virtualising Asterisk
I know a lot has changed over the past couple of years, and even monthly, and that Asterisk running within a virtualised environment is very happy indeed. If one would only be using SIP/IAX would Xen/KVM be the best solution ? / or perhaps VServer/LXC maybe advantageous due to binary hashing. Your thoughts would be very welcome.

VServer Support

Hi *!
I''m currently working on integrating VServer support into puppet. I have
uploaded a prototype for managing interface configuration to the Cookbook at
http://reductivelabs.com/cookbook/VServerRecipes
and would very much appreciate feedback about style and functionality.

facts are loaded twice
Hi,
i''ve set up my puppet on several clients and today i noticed that the
facts are loaded twice by the clients. I took strace to get the list
of loaded fact file and i found that puppet seems to load the same
fact files twice:
chdir("/var/lib/puppet/lib/facter") = 0
open(".", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_DIRECTORY|O_CLOEXEC) = 6

pciback.hide with debian
Hi all,
I made run some domU on my debian stable dom0
I got 2 NIC and I would like to attach my second NIC to a special dom0
(proxy)
I read some docs about it, I add pciback.hide=(0a:02.0) on my menu.lst
and I start my domU (proxy) like that.
xm -create -c proxy pci=0a:02.0
I try with pci=[''0a:02.0''] on my domU conf file
But none of this work for me.
I use kernel

Puppet in vserver
Hi
I am looking for quite a while now to run Puppet inside a vserver.
The installation worked perfectly, but when I run a test I get this

only one external ip
Hi,
I am running xen 2.0 for some days now on a local network and it''s running fine :)
Every virtual server on my host gets it''s own IP address.
But now, I am wondering if it''s possible to run xen on a hosted root server with only one ip address.
Lets say I have a domain ''domain.org'' that points to my host, on which xen is running.
Is there a

vserver openvpn
Hello
I''m new to the list.
I installed a vserver (http://www.linux-vserver.org/) on my gentoo server
As network interface is used an alias (eth1:0)
eth1 is the card of my "loc" zone. eth1:0 has an address from the same
subnet
from the vserver I can connect to eth0 but not to the internet. From my
local net everything works fine.
I have an entry in "mask" for eth1

Virtualisation
I'm building a new server at home to handle most of my internal
requirements (mail, news, dns, dhcp, backups being the biggies). I also
want it to host a couple of virtual servers which are allowed incoming
connections from the internet (mail gateway, web server, ssh server);
these are virtual so if a hacker _can_ break in then they're limited as
to what they can see.

Extended Attribute Support?
Hello,
Any word on when extended attribute support will be added to OCFS2?
What are the impediments to someone implementing this?
Alternatively, has anyone implemented a patch to add extended
attribute support to OCFS2?
I've been watching the open source Lustre fs development, too. I
noticed that they have added extended attribute support. However,
OCFS2 is more attractive for some

Problems exporting a PCI device to a domU...
Hi!
I am trying to export a PCI device (an AVM Fritzcard PCI ISDN card...)
to a domU but when starting my domU I am getting this error:
"pciback pci-4-0: 22 Couldn''t locate PCI device (0000:00:06.0)!
perhaps already in-use?"
My system is running both debian etch in dom0 and domU...
Below you can find (hopefully) all important information...
Sincerely,
