Dovecot UIDs and POP.
Hi,
I recently performed a mail server migration for a client under fairly serious time constraints (ahem, yes one of those jobs). I would normally use imapsync to get all the mail copied to the new server, but under the circumstances, I had to write a script to rsync each of the mailboxes over ssh, from one server to another.
This all worked fine, except for the fact that if a client was using

My Dsync isn't replicating 'EXPUNGE' IMAP command
Hi!
I have two Dovecot-2.2.13 servers with Dsync Replication: server1 and
server2.
When I execute 'EXPUNGE' on server1 side, the messages with FLAG
\Deleted are expunged only on server1. The message is still present in
Server2.
Could someone give me a hint reason for this ?
Thanks in advance!

Public mailbox confusion
greets,
I am quite sure I ask some faq here ... sorry, but I am confused by the
many options and choices here.
What I want to do is:
I migrate lots of public folders from a MS Exchange Server ...
The customer wants that there is a "Public" folder containing all these
hundreds of folders, the public folder should be visible for all the
dovecot-users and all the subfolders should be

COPY vs APPEND for imapsieve?
The examples on the imapsieve documentation page use COPY but not APPEND
to watch messages coming into a folder. Are there not circumstances that
a client would APPEND a message to a folder instead of COPY? Is APPEND
only used by most clients for adding a sent message to the sent folder?
I'm not familiar enough with IMAP clients to know if by leaving off
APPEND I am safe or I am at risk

processing Dovecot maildirs with shell scripts
Hello,
I have a postfix server which uses procmail as its delivery agent to
deliver incoming messages to several maildirs. For several reasons,
not really relevant here, I need to process/refilter/sort again the
content of these mailboxes before delivering the messages to the
_other_ maildirs which Dovecot sees and serves to local or remote imap
users. Basically, I need to write some shell

User another userdb to sasl
Hello,
I use Dovecot 1.0.12 with Postfix on FreeBSD. It works perfectly, but I
have a question. My users are virtual (stocked in a MySQL database).
I use SASL Dovecot authentification, and SASL uses my userdb (for
POP/IMAP access).
However, I would like my users have an other login/password to send
email with SMTP/SASL. Or, I don't want my users use the same
login/password for POP/IMAP

Hello.

in the logs. Do they harm in general?
And only in one single case I got this, don't know if I ever will get it
reproduced, so maybe not related and happened by accident:

doveadm output format changes
It appears that doveadm output format changes every now and then,
without particular notice.
For example, the following command:
doveadm -f pager mailbox status 'messages recent' '*'
did output something like this until v2.2.24 :
mailbox: Mailbox1
messages: 58
recent: 12
^L
mailbox: Mailbox2
messages: 128
recent: 0
but switched to that in v2.2.26 :
Mailbox1
messages: 58

Hi List,
after upgrading dovecot from version 2.2.33.2 to 2.3.7.2 I got a lot of error messages like the following if the process count of imap processes reaches nearly 1000 (~950 (there are a few pop-connections)).

Problems with losing D-Channel on
Hello all,
I got a problem at an asterisk server, with dropping calls, losing all
channels and reaktivating all channels and beeing back up.
This problem seems to occure randomly over the whole day, when it gots
traffic on the card.
After looking @ google I found several hints but none did work fine.
To avoid problems with the phone line (german E1) I called the provider, he
did a 45 min. route

migrating from Samba 2.0 to Samba 2.2 (AIX)
hello,
I'm trying to migrate a rather simple configuration from a
Samba 2.0.6 to Samba 2.2.8 , on an AIX system.
smb.conf stays exactly the same & checked with testparm.
File sharing works fine again, but not printing : smbd meets an internal
error when a NT box tries to launch a print job.
Sample of logfile :
