Convert to DBox
I am thinking of trying out dbox format. I am currently using maildir. Is it possible for me to switch just one user account to dbox while keeping all of my other users on maildir? If so, how would I go about doing that? Here is a copy of my dovecot -n: # 1.2.5: /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux 2.6.30-1-amd64 x86_64 Debian squeeze/sid ext3 base_dir: /var/run/dovecot/ protocols: imap

Address Extensions with System Users
I am using Dovecot 1.2RC2 with Postfix 2.5.5. Everything is running fine. I would like to start using address extensions and have e-mail automatically filtered into folders based on the folder name after the "+" in the e-mail address. I only use system users, no virtual users. I have Deliver configured in main.cf as: mailbox_command = /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver Everything I

Corrupted Index Cache
I am starting to use Squirrelmail a little bit more to read my mail during the day and I seem to be getting this error more frequently while using Squirrelmail. Just a coincidence or do you think using Squirrelmail might have something to do with it? Squat Indexing
I tried Squat indexing on my very small home system and when I did a body search in Thunderbird, I got a TON, and I mean TON, of these messages in my log file: Mar 6 06:13:31 apple dovecot: child 14142 (imap) killed with signal 6 Mar 6 06:13:31 apple dovecot: IMAP(jeff): file file-lock.c: line 112: unreached Mar 6 06:13:31 apple dovecot: IMAP(jeff): Raw backtrace: imap [0x482771] ->

Received Dates/Squirrelmail
I am trying to figure out an issue I have with the e-mails in my inbox showing up in Squirrelmail. I sometimes get (more often than I care for it to happen) e-mails which show up as new either many hours ago or days ago. I have one particular e-mail that in Squirrelmail is showing a data of Tue, 8:23PM. The received header of that e-mail shows: Received: from murphy.debian.org

Dovecot 1.2.beta1 Backtrace POP3
I am testing out the new Dovecot 1.2.beta1 software. I am getting reports from people using POP3 that it randomly drops connections. Looking at the log file I see that the POP3 process they were connecting to panics and dumps a Raw bactrace. Below is a copy of the logs (IP addresses striped for security): dovecot: Feb 21 13:10:45 Info: auth(default): passwd-file(janna at jantics.com,x.x.x.x):

can't access admin webpages with N-1 listeners active
Hi, Stumbled into a problem with icecast-2.3.1 (a recent daily svn snapshot). We have 6 spec'd in the xml for the (one and only) mountpt's <mount/max-listeners>. The <limit/clients> near the top of the xml is also set to 6 (as seen on the sample xml dists). When we get up to N-1 listeners, we cannot access the admin webpages from localhost or anywhere-else-host. Here's

PATCH: make local IP address available to auth modules
The attached patch makes the local IP address to which the client connected available to the authentication modules; i.e., the local IP address is available for substitution as %i for the mysql and pgsql modules. We needed this feature to support thousands of our legacy accounts which are authenticated by username/local_part (not the full email address) and IP address (one per domain). Timo,

STARTTLS and inetd
Hi! When running dovecot from inetd (as per the instructions on http://wiki.dovecot.org/InetdInstall), imap-login and pop3-login thinks that TLS is enabled when in fact it isn't (we're connecting to port 110 and port 143, so the --ssl parameter isn't present). The reason for that is found in login-common/main.c:main(): > if (fd != -1) > (void)client_create(fd, &ip,

Panic in version 1.1.6
Hello, We have seen a few of these panics in 1.1.6. It seems to happen when pine is being used and a POP3 check occurs at the same time (but not always), but I'm not positive this is always the case: --- Nov 22 11:10:32 lexiconn2 dovecot: Panic: POP3(techjm): file istream.c: line 76 (i_stream_read): assertion failed: (_stream-> skip != _stream->pos) Nov 22 11:10:32 lexiconn2

Backtraces without core dumps
Since getting core dumps seems to be difficult sometimes, especially with login processes, I've now added code to log the backtrace when Dovecot crashes in some assert check (or some other reason why it decides to abort()). This code works with Linux and Solaris, but I don't know about BSDs. Apparently there exists libexecinfo library which could be used. I think this code could

Logging options
Hi, is it possible to configure dovecot's logging so it logs stuff like "User x logged in from IP/Host y and had z new messages" like I'm used from qpopper? That immensely helps when debugging PEBKAC issues. Enabling auth_verbose isnt really helpfull since a failed login generates 4 lines, some even without a pid - so it's a bit hard guessing which log entry belongs to
