Disallow folder delete
Is there a straightforward way to disallow the deletion of all IMAP mailboxes? I have a user who's deleted an important IMAP mailbox and I'm now recovering a recent copy from the backup. But I'd rather just blanket disallow all folder deletions. The user is using Thunderbird and this has happened more than once so I suspect Tbird is willing to let a folder get deleted too easily.

Password encoding
Hi, I've currently got a problem authenticating to my dovecot server (1.0rc15). The server is set up to authenticate against a mysql server, with a default password scheme of 'crypt'. The problem is that some of the passwords I need to transfer (all from /etc/shadow files) are md5 encoded, and when I put {md5-crypt} in front of the password to force the scheme, dovecot answers

Listen on several (but not all) Interfaces
Hi, I'm using Dovecot 1.0rc15 from Debian stable/etch. I'd like to have Dovecot listen on more than one interface. It shall listen on one IPv4 Interface and on one IPv6 Interface. The comments in the sample configuration file say, that it's not possible to listen on more than one interface at a time. Sadly it's no option to me to listen on all interfaces. So I'd like to ask

X-UID: 4085788205 != 2147483647
Hi, Dovecot (at least versions 0.99.10.4, 0.99.11, 1.0rc15, rc17 and rc18) allows message Unique Identifiers to be an unsigned 32 bit value, so something like "X-UID: 4085788205" is allowed. Some IMAP clients I've tested (Thunderbird 1.5.0.9, SquirrelMail 1.4.9a/PHP 4.3.2) appear to use signed 32 bit identifiers and request the above message as UID 2147483647 (max signed 32 bit

dovecot imap hangs
All, I recently did a fresh install/setup on centos 5 to replace my older courier-imap and all seemed to go well until today I started to notice that it simply hangs. I use thunderbird and squirrel mail and after a while it seems like I"m simply rejected. I'm almost guessing that it has to do with the session timing out and then dovecot is unwilling or unable to renew the session. I

umask not applied
Hi all! I am trying to get dovecot-1.0.rc15 to create files with mode 660 in my virtual mailboxes. I set umask=0007 in dovecot.conf, restarted dovecot (/etc/init.d/dovecot restart) and send me an e-mail but it is still 600. "dovecot -n" says "umask: 7" How come the zeros are not displayed? Is this by intention or is something wrong? Here is the complete output: #

Dovecot quota not working
Hi everyone, I'm trying to make quota to work in dovecot 1.0.rc15 in a Debian machine. Setting the limit to 1GB and starting to fill up the mailbox and nothing stopped me. It just kept growing and nothing happened. Restarted the service and nothing. I had already exceeded the 1 GB limit and nothing happens, the mailbox still goes bigger and bigger... The *"check_quota"* plugin for

Quick question on sieve
I have a procmail recipe that does the majority of my heavy lifting for my mailing lists. It's pretty straightforward, but as I understand it, this isn't something sieve can do: # [ ] contains a space and a tab :0 * 9876543210^0 ^(List-Id:.*<|X-Mailing-List:[ ]*)\/[-A-z0-9_+]+ * 9876543210^0 ^(List-Post:[ ]*(<mailto:)?|List-Owner:[ ]*(<mailto:)?owner-)\/[-A-Z0-9_+]+ *

UW-IMAP style mbox snarfing from /var/mail/ to ~/mbox
http://dovecot.org/patches/mbox-snarf-plugin.c Also committed to CVS HEAD. Usage: mail_location = mbox:~/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u protocol imap { mail_plugins = mbox_snarf } protocol pop3 { mail_plugins = mbox_snarf } plugin { mbox_snarf = ~/mbox } If ~/mbox doesn't exist, nothing special is done. If ~/mbox exists, it's treated as INBOX and mails are moved from /var/mail/%u

Possible bug with removing e-mail when user over fs quota
Dear list, I don't know if this is by design or possibly a bug, but there is a difference when removing e-mail when a user is over filesystem quota when indexing is on or off. All is working fine on our servers when indexing is on, users can remove then purge e-mail when over quota, but when we turn off indexing (by setting INDEX=MEMORY) it doesn't work. Users can remove, but

Hello, I've some trouble with my kmail (Version 1.13.5 / KDE 4.5.1, Kubuntu 10.04 and a dovecot-imap-server on debian etch (dovecot 1.0.rc15-2etch5).
