Tru64 patch for mountpoint.c
I believe that there is one more patch required for a successful build
on Tru64:
# diff ./src/lib/mountpoint.c.orig ./src/lib/mountpoint.c

> point_r->type = p_strdup(pool, getvfsbynumber(buf.f_type));

< point_r->block_size = buf.f_bsize;

Tru64 Unix and SIA
I have recently written a (minimal) Tru64 Unix SIA password module for
Dovecot as part of testing a Dovecot installation.
Has anyone else written a Tru64 Unix SIA module?
Is anyone else interested in such a module?
If so, how might I/we go about getting this/such a module into the main
Dovecot source?
Thanks

Limiting number of IMAP connections per user
Hi,
Is there a way of limiting the number of IMAP connections (i.e.
processes) per user?
Despite asking users to set their email client settings to limit
themselves to 2 connections, some still have this set to 10 or more.
Cheers

Multiple ssl certificates
Hello,
I wonder if there is some possibility to force dovecot to use more than
one ssl certificate.
I would like to use a few certficates: one per IP We are hosting many
different domains
and I had to use stunnel to ensure encrypted connection for our clients
using different
certificates. But stunnel isn't a good solution and sometimes I need to
restart stunnels

Telephone systems and Dovecot
Hi folks,
We're looking to integrate our telephone system with our email system.
The telephone system will use IMAP4 to store WAV files in a users
mailbox and then retrieve them for playing if necessary. This is
usually called "unified messaging".
The manufacturers are claiming full integration with Microsoft Exchange
and Lotus Notes using IMAP4 and a single username and

Effects of migration
So, to follow up to my previous thread, we just successfully migrated our
NFS-based mail cluster from qmail pop, courier imap, and bincimap to
dovecot 1.1rc1.
Overall the transition was very smooth, the only unexpected adjustment was
having to implement ntpd on each box, rather than doing an hourly ntpdate
against our local ntpd server, to prevent dovecot from crashing itself
from too much

winbindd with LDAPS
Thank you,
I've seen that commit. But even that seemed to be a STARTTLS inside a
plain ldap connection (389).

winbindd with LDAPS
Hi,
We have a samba installation (4.17.5) where a winbindd is part of an
AD domain and used to authenticate radius (radiator) logins.
The thing is, the AD administration is closing port 386 on the
password server and only allowing requests on 636 (ldaps).
I don't seem to be able to change the winbindd to use the ldaps port. Tried
ldap ssl = start tls
ldap ssl ads = yes
tls enabled = yes

Single-instance storage is bad for you!
This single-instance storage is going to encourage bad habits! I just
found myself preparing an e-mail that needs to be sent to multiple
recipients - including several within my own organization - yet it's not
necessary for everyone (in-house) to get the large attachment. As I was
getting ready to split the message into two parts for distribution I
remembered - I can just send it to

How many concurrent IMAP sessions?
Has anybody ever bothered to measure how many concurrent IMAP sessions dovecot
can handle?
I know it depends on hardware, filesystem, mailbox type etc., but what exactly
controls the number and what have people on the list measured?

Dovecot SSL limitations
Hello Timo,
I'd like to check if my understanding of dovecot-1.2.x's SSL certificate
handling is correct :
SSL does not provide the server any mechanism to choose which certificate
it must send relatively to the name the client is using. Thus, if you want to
use different certificates, you have to listen to different addresses. This is
an SSL limitation, not a dovecot nor

Some people asked me lately about how professional Dovecot is.
I purely love that kind of crap. As if presentations meant anything, as
if there aren't all kinds of scholarly work about theoretical perfect
world algorithms and conceptual systems that will never be implemented
and are as practical and effective as wings on a pig. Please.
I'm reminded of the story about how, during the American Civil War, when
the North had finally, after years of

Separate isolated instances of programs
I was wanting to know if Wine is able to make private or semi-isolated instances of programs at a time. For example, separate windows of the Steam gaming platform if it's possible.
I'm new to using Wine, but have used Linux, so I have some knowledge of technical stuff.

If this is an SMTP relay server, I'm surprised you bothered to install
an IMAP server at all. It would have been easier to simply alias
postmaster@ to another account on another machine where you do store
mailboxes. I.e. simply

separate SSL certificates for pop3s and imaps

I'm migrating a uw-imap installation to dovecot. With uw-imap I had
different SSL certificates and keys for ipop3d and imapd. How can I
configure dovecot to do the same with its pop3s and imaps services?
Thanks in advance,
