FreeBSD 6 - DirectAdmin - dovecot
Since version 1.0 I experience strange problems with dovecot. At the moment I have beta 7 installed. I use FreeBSD 6.0. * Pop3 works * Imap works, but only when i telnet to localhost * In all other cases I can't connect to the server. Tried with squirrelmail, uebimau and thunderbird. Squirrelmail after a long time waiting: "ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server."

convert_mail plugin doesn't work
Hi I'm trying to use convert_mail plugin to convert wu-imap mailbox to maildir. I'm using dovecot rc 27 on Centos 4.4 linux. I have user INBOX in /var/spool/mail/ and mbox file in mail ~/mail When I do the first login with a test user (test1), the plugin convert all the mbox under ~mail, but doesn't do any conversion on the INBOX (/var/spool/mail/test1). After conversion those

What are they trying to do here?
Hi! I?m new to the list, and I?m not really having a ?problem?, but I?m seeing something in my log files that I wonder if I should be concerned. I?ve been using Dovecot (dovecot-0.99.14-8.fc4) on my Fedora Core 4 (kernel 2.6.17-1.2142_FC4) machine from quite some time. For the last few days, I?ve been seeing this in my daily ?Logwatch? e-mail: dovecot: Authentication Failures:

IMAP-proxy or not with sogo webmail and dovecot backend
We've been collecting some stats to see what kind of benefits UP/SquirrelMail's IMAP Proxy in for our SOGo webmail users. Dovecot is running in High-performance mode http://wiki2.dovecot.org/LoginProcess with authentication caching http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Authentication/Caching During the weekend two servers (webmail3 and webmail4) has been running with local imapproxy and two servers

Editing sieve scripts via webmail?
Hello... I have dovecot 1.0.10 running with the sieve plugin and virtual users (LDAP). My webmail is squirrelmail. I want to allow the users to create sieve-scripts via a squirrelmail-plugin. The plugins seems to require that the IMAP-server is cyrus. What are the options for dovecot? Thanks, Tobias

Samba4 and idmap backend (ad/rid)
Hi, I eventually managed to install and join a Samba4 server as a member in an AD environment but I have a problem with the id command. wbinfo commands work but when I launch id command with a domain user I get "user unknown". Here is my smb.conf (Took from Samba Wiki) : idmap config *:backend = tdb idmap config *:range = 70001-80000 idmap config MYDOMAINNAME:backend = ad

IMAP and webmail applications
I've been hunting around for a webmail application other than squirrelmail for reasons that really don't matter. But I'm seeing that a lot of these applications tend to sometimes access servers via IMAP, but they always seem to have a touch more information needed than might be for an IMAP session. An example is openwebmail. It authenticates very similar to how dovecot

Squirrelmail and Dovecot folder namespace
I am currently using Squirrelmail and Dovecot with this setting: default_mail_env = mbox:%h/mail/:INBOX=%h/mail/INBOX It works well, however folder subscriptions in Squirrelmail annoyingly end up with "./" prefixes because Squirrelmail refuses to work without overriding the folder namespace. All of my other IMAP clients work fine without setting that option. Squirrelmail's

lock files causing time outs with Thunderbird
I have dovecot 1.1.16 running on Solaris 10. We are seeing problem with lock files taking forever to be removed after opening a email folder like Trash with several thousand messages in them. We use mbox format. All users inbox's are local to the mail server, and all other users mail folders are stored on a separate file server mounted via NFS. I see no problems with the NFS mounts.

Quota not showing properly in webmail
Hi I have a virtual users system using postfix / mysql / dovecot. Everything is working like a charm except for the quota display on webmail systems. It is working properly but showing GB instead of MB. For example. If I create a user with 100MB of quota and send him 50MB of mail, squirrelmail and roundcubemail display 50MB of 100GB If I create another user with 20MB quota and send him 10MB of

Investigating suspected cache corruption
Hi All, I'm running Dovecot 1.1.11 for a site of about 7000 active users with a Squirrelmail frontend. We migrated from Courier (big shout to everyone who worked on the wonderful part of the Dovecot wiki that deals with Courier migration) and I have been extremely happy with the performance gains Dovecot has given us. Not only is the IMAP part of Squirrelmail faster, but our same

CentOS 6 Webmail
I see that SquirrelMail is gone from 6. Is there a package in here somewhere that is a webmail system? Otherwise, I suppose it lives in one of the repos like sourceforge. I just wanted to check if something new existed before doing that. John

restrict webmail access
Hi I'm using dovecot imap with ldap accounts. User management interface is phamm. Internal clients connect directly using imap client. External clients must use webmail (squirrelmail). But not everyone is supposed to use webmail. Is there any way to control who is allowed to log in from a specific IP (webmail ip)? Thanx for suggestions Jan

Experience with Dovecot + Sieve + Webmail?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, there were some posts into this lists regarding Webmail interfaces and Sieve. What are the experiences with them? I need a webmail frontend that is capable of IMAP, supporting dovecot's namespaces, verifying PGP and managing Sieve in conjunction with Dovecot. I found two mature products, I also saw posts about, so I'm going to ask.

POP3 auth failures
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Have a strange problem with just POP3 users. Their email clients will fail every so often with the following: Logging into POP Server, PASS [09:16:29 PM] There has been an error transferring your mail. I said PASS <shhhh! Don't tell anyone.> and then the POP server (user at mail.engr.colostate.edu) said: ERR Authentication failed. This

convert_mail ?
I can't find much documentation on the convert_mail plugin. For example, on the wiki plugins page, clicking on convert goes to <http://wiki.dovecot.org/InterWiki> which is not relevant. Can I use convert_mail to migrate from UW IMAP 2002 mbox format where some mail is in ~/ and the inboxes are in /var/spool/mail? Will it know which files are mbox folders, so it doesn't try to

IMAP Memory Error
Hi, I recently upgraded dovecot on an OpenBSD server from the 0.99.x series to the 1.0-test series to eliminate a problem. That was fixed, however I am now experiencing issues with IMAP(S) connections. The main IMAPS use to the server is via Squirrelmail (many users login with it), however I typically use Thunderbird. The user mailboxes are stored in Maildir format. Basically, moving,

Best small server config
Hi, Busy with dovecot on a linux server with not very much RAM in it (512 MB max total). On this server dovecot will only handle about 12 users, with never more than 3 IMAP webmail users at a time, and a maximum of 2 POP3 users at a time using it. I'm going all secure later on, but first I would like your opinion on what configuration best to use with, say, max 5 users busy at one time, and
