Release plans for Compiz 0.8.0
The Compiz 0.8.0 release will be the first release to include what was
formerly known as Compiz Fusion.
A complete feature and string freeze for Compiz 0.8 is in effect from
Friday 5th of February, 23:59 GMT. I urge anyone with patches to submit
them ASAP, regardless of their state.
During most of Saturday, possibly spilling into Sunday, Compiz 0.8 will be
branched and made ready for release.

[ANNOUNCE] Compiz feature branch compiz++
Hi,
I've currently pushed a new branch called "compiz++" to the freedesktop
repository, with some features I've been working on during last months.
Because most of the features also require (BIG) changes to the plugins, I've
decided to put them all together.
- No direct access to member variables: Everything is now done with getter and
setter functions. This helps with

Regarding freedesktop.org and Compiz
We were a little imprecise in our original announcement with regards to
moving away from freedesktop.org, which seems to have caused some confusion.
We are only moving away from the freedesktop.org infrastructure. NOT the
standards.
By moving away from freedesktop.org, we are:
- Shutting down bug-submission on bugs.freedesktop.org. We will be using
bugs.opencompositing.org which will soon be

Advice to plugin developers during 0.9
As 0.9 will contain numerous core-changes which are likely to affect both
behavior and plugin development, the recommended way of developing new
plugins throughout 0.9 will be to use the released developer versions, NOT
master.
The exceptions are plugins that are already part of the release and
plugins that depend on functionality that only exist in master.
This will allow plugin developers to

Coding standard
I've been trying to come up with some good coding standards, but I've
realized that most of us already know most of this. So instead of trying to
define every aspect of how we code Compiz-code, I'll try to outline some of
the finer points. For a more complete list, you can review any of the many
coding-standard documents out there (For Linux, FreeBSD or any other
project).

Compiz 0.8 branched
I just branched for 0.8, since Danny told me there was no reason not to.
There are still some bugs to work out of course, but since development has
been quiet lately, I figure it's time to branch so that we can:
1. Eventually get to the next stable release
2. Allow people to work more freely on master
On my personal list of things I want to see working better before a 0.8
release, I have

Place plugin
I thought we removed place, or was that something that was agreed but never
executed?
The plugin has been virtually untouched since wall and expo got popular,
and I don't really want to support it for 0.8.
Unless someone has any strong objections, it'll be removed later this
evening. I'm sorry about the short notice, but I'm fairly sure this has
been briefly discussed before

[PATCH] Use-Copy for Compiz - Non-Texture-From-Pixmaps rendering
Some weeks ago one of my friends asked me to port the "use-copy"
(non-tfp) beryl's feature to Compiz since he wasn't able to run compiz
(fusion) smoothly in his nvidia card with turbocache (these cards works
well only using Xgl, otherwise they are affected by the [in]famous
"Black Window Bug". That's obiouvsly an error that nVidia should fix,
but in the latest

Compiz licensing
David:
I am trying to contact someone regarding Compiz licensing.
I got your name by doing a search on "who to contact for
compiz licensing" which sent me to a web article:
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/compiz/2007-February/001413.html
Can you direct me to someone (name, phone number) with whom I
can discuss.
Thanks and regards,

Compiz not working properly using nvidia twinview
Hi,
I am running ubuntu 7.10 gutsy, and I have compiz working on one monitor
( a bit slow though ). When I add twinview to the mix compiz still comes
up, and sort of works but:
1. I loose the background and it is replace by all white
2. The second monitor draws about 30% of the new white background,
then it ends with a bit of a shadow, and then it continues with black

compiz-aiglx patch
hi,
a small patch inspired from Kristian H?gsberg compiz-aiglx patch, to use
compiz with xorg aiglx with tftp_damage patch and gl-include-inferior
patch.
this patch add command-line option to force bind and release whenever
the texture is used.
to use it you must start xorg in 16 depth mode, and start compiz with LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT
environnement variable
PS : sorry for my bad english

CompComm has a real name!
Our previous attempts to select a project name for CompComm have not gone
well. We tried a poll but the names in the poll were not pre-qualified to
determine if they were usable and the ?winning? name was also a strongly
disliked name. Kristian and I each proposed a plan to select a name, but that
effort got sidetracked by a massive flame war on the mailing list.

Command binding handling in compiz core
Hi,
currently, we have a bunch of stuff in compiz core that is entirely
Gnome specific, though it's designed to be general. What I mean is
- arbitrary command bindings
- terminal and screenshot command bindings
- "main menu" and "run dialog" toolkit actions
Neither of those is handled by the window manager outside of Gnome.
Hence I propose doing the following:
- Add a

Check behaviour of Compiz Fusion KDE 0.6.2-3.1
Hello,
I am trying out the release "Compiz Fusion KDE 0.6.2-3.1" on my openSUSE system.
I would like to share some more experiences about its usability.

0.8-based Compiz work
For the last few weeks I've been fiddling with the 0.8 code-base, mostly
because compiz got nuked in my distro and I had to do something, if for no
other reason than to have a running WM. You can find my work at:
https://github.com/KristianLyng/compiz
(I'm also tracking issues there)
I've done what I felt like doing, some of which would've been
controversial/problematic 5 years

Compiz starts, but no 3D effects
I just installed Compiz on Ubuntu Feisty (Gutsy does not work on my
hardware as per the release notes) via the
http://ppa.launchpad.net/amaranth/ubuntu repo, which is the repo
suggested in the compiz-fusion website. The machine is a Dell Inspiron
E1505 / 6400 with the horrible ATI X1400 graphics card and 1680x1050
monitor. I installed XGL and the proprietary ATI driver, a combination
that worked
