Configuring sendmail in a corporate environment
I have a stock CentOS 5 system as far as email (sendmail) is concerned that is on our corporate LAN. I am not trying to set up a mail server; I merely want our CentOS systems to be able to send out emails. This works as long as the recipient's domain is our local domain. Any email send to recipients that are not in our local domain get stuck in the queue: # mailq

sendmail question
Hi all, I have a local user account call "panel" on a machine. When I use the mail command to manually send email to the panel account it over 1 minute until that mail actually deposited in the mail account. What setting is that reduces this time? I changed /etc/sysconfig/sendmail the QUEUE=10s and that did not have any effect. Thanks Jerry

My God, it is full of stars
And it is fast! And big! And louder! What is? The new CentOS mail server is, which coincidentally also hosts the mailing lists you are reading right now. After three short hours and (AFAICS) no lost mail we now have the following situation: The mailq on the old mail server now is empty, while the new one is already fighting with stale dns info, unknown users, deferrals and so on. Hey Everyone, I?m still muddling through my first install? Followed the tutorials on workaround.org <http://workaround.org/> which were very helpful! but don?t include much info if things don?t work 100%? and so far I haven?t been able to pin down where the error is. Update ports on 6.3 or update OS to 7.1(RC2) and update ports?
I have a machine where several of my installed applications are getting way behind. It is not a mission critical server, but I need it to be stable (I have all fairly old well supported hardware, nothing special). Since updating and rebuilding all the ports is pretty much mandatory for the upgrade to 7.x and I plan to take that path soon, would most people consider 7.1RC2 stable enough for a

Sendmail "Queued mail for delivery"
I see that mail sent from a remote computer never leaves the computer, the last entry in /var/log/maillog being "Queued mail for delivery". 1. What is likely to cause this message? I know I registered with my remote mail server with a different name to my name on the computer. Is that likely to be the cause of my problem? And if so, what is the solution? Or is there any other likely

Use postfix and spamd on CentOS 6 - looking for a shortest guide
Hello fellow CentOS-users, on the net there are lots of Spamassassin related HOWTOs - describing how to create a shell script for Postfix and how to install Spamassassin and start its spamd daemon - step by step. Additionally antivirus setups are described... But I have a strong feeling, that this is unneeded on CentOS 6 - because there are already preconfigured stock packages for postfix and

Problem with dovecot under Vmware Server

Then I installed both postfix and dovecot under VMWare Server (different machine) copying the same configuration files but changing the hostname and domain as appropriate. When testing the installation using: telnet hostname 143, I receive * OK Dovecot ready But when I telnet on port 25, I receive: Trying
