Hierarchical local mount
Hello everyone!
I have to implement the functionality of mounting all VM disks/partitions.
E.g. if a VM has 2 disks of 2 partitions each (I get it from
virt-filesystems), I want to get the following structure on host node
after mount:
mnt/
------hdd0/
-------------volume1/
-------------volume2/
------hdd1/
-------------volume1/
-------------volume2/
I'd like to use guestmount due to

Expanding a root pool
I''m attempting to expand a root pool for a VMware VM that is on an 8GB virtual disk. I mirrored it to a 20GB disk and detached the 8GB disk. I did "installgrub" to install grub onto the second virtual disk, but I get a kernel panic when booting. Is there an extra step I need to perform to get this working?
Basically I did this:
1. Created a new 20GB virtual disk.
2. Booted

UK BT ISDN30e PRI Problem
Ok Guys, I've done a tonne of hunting around on this problem, but
can't find much help.
I'm running:
asterisk 1.4.19.1
libpri 1.4.3
and zaptel 1.4.9.2 which I believe has been modified by RedFone to add
the ztd-ethmf module.
My interface is a RedFone foneBridge2 4 Span; and I'm connecting to a
BT E1 PRI / ISDN30e with 15 lines on span 1, and a legacy Panasonic
PBX on span 4. Upon

xmv and vlan on snv_105?
Hi,
I updated my installation to snv_105 from pkg.opensolaris.org/dev.
Booting xvm kernel doesn''t work. The last working xvm version that I
tested was on snv_98. I filed a bug report earlier on
http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=5905
Is anyone using xmv on opensolaris 2008.11 (stable or dev)?
Is it suppose to work, or is it one of those

Can't access opaque symlinks pointing to another Samba mount
Computer A runs my samba server. Has unix extensions = off, wide links
= on (don't think this one matters with unix extensions off...)
This way, if I have a symlink on my shares, clients see it as a normal
file, not as a symlink.
This works fine, even for symlinks to files outside the shares paths.
Except when the symlink points to a file that is on a CIFS mount.
So say I have computer B

time-sliderd doesn''t remove snapshots
In the last few days my performance has gone to hell. I''m running:
# uname -a
SunOS nissan 5.11 snv_150 i86pc i386 i86pc
(I''ll upgrade as soon as the desktop hang bug is fixed.)
The performance problems seem to be due to excessive I/O on the main
disk/pool.
The only things I''ve changed recently is that I''ve created and destroyed
a snapshot, and I used

RePartition OS disk, give some to zpool
I''ve got knee deep into learning how to use Opensolaris and zfs, and I
see now that my goal of home zfs server may have been better served if
I had partitioned the install disk leaving some of the 60GB to be
added to a zpool.
First, how much space does a working OS need. I don''t mean bare
minimum but to be comfortable and have some growing room (on the
install disk)?

Terrible performance when setting zfs_arc_max snv_98
Hi there.
I just got a new Adaptec RAID 51645 controller in because the old (other type) was malfunctioning. It is paired with 16 Seagate 15k5 disks, of which two are used with hardware RAID 1 for OpenSolaris snv_98, and the rest is configured as striped mirrors as a zpool. I created a zfs filesystem on this pool with a blocksize of 8K.
This server has 64GB of memory and will be running

Cannot Mirror RPOOL, Can''t Label Disk to SMI
Dear ZFS experts,
I have 2 SATA 500 GB Hard Drive on my Dual Core PC
I have installed OpenSolaris 2008.11 using Live CD I got from Sun Tech Days in Singapore
Now, using all the guidelines I got here at Indiana Discussion, I can''t attach my second drive to rpool to make them mirror
Initially I was playing around with similar configuration in VirtualBox, and it does not succeed. Finally

st devices not showing up in xvm
I have a Sony lib-162 tape library hooked up to an adaptec 39160 scsi controller.
I''m running OpenSolaris / Indiana snv_98 with the CADP160 driver installed from
a SXCE dvd (snv_99). When I boot without xvm, I can run "mt config" and see the
configuration information for the first drive in the library. Under xvm, some scsi
operations still work - I can access the changer, move

blue screen: clock interrupt win2008
Hi,
when installing windows server 2008 Std hvm I get always a blue screen
telling me:
''a clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the
allocated time interval''
I googled around and found, that this occured with vista as well:

zfs mount hangs
Hi,
System: Netra 1405, 4x450Mhz, 4GB RAM and 2x146GB (root pool) and
2x146GB (space pool). snv_98.
After a panic the system hangs on boot and manual attempts to mount
(at least) one dataset in single user mode, hangs.

Resilver hanging?
How can I diagnose why a resilver appears to be hanging at a certain
percentage, seemingly doing nothing for quite a while, even though the
HDD LED is lit up permanently (no apparent head seeking)?
The drives in the pool are WD Raid Editions, thus have TLER and should
time out on errors in just seconds. ZFS nor the syslog however were
reporting any IO errors, so it weren''t the disks.

LOCALBOOT information
Hi,
We have been testing the localboot functionality today and it could be
useful if localboot was a com32 module rather than a configuration
directive so that one can use it on the boot prompt, rather than require a
menu entry/alias at all times.
A more userfriendly localboot.c32 could do this and allow eg for friendly
device-names.

Troubleshooting ZFS performance with SIL3124 cards
Hi!
I have a problem with ZFS and most likely the SATA PCI-X controllers.
I run
opensolaris 2008.11 snv_98 and my hardware is Sun Netra x4200 M2 with
3 SIL3124 PCI-X with 4 eSATA ports each connected to 3 1U diskchassis
which each hold 4 SATA disks manufactured by Seagate model ES.2
(500 and 750) for a total of 12 disks. Every disk has its own eSATA
cable
connected to the ports on the PCI-X
