determining raidz pool configuration
Hi all, Sorry for the newbie question, but I''ve looked at the docs and haven''t been able to find an answer for this. I''m working with a system where the pool has already been configured and want to determine what the configuration is. I had thought that''d be with zpool status -v <poolname>, but it doesn''t seem to agree with the

Mixing RAIDZ and RAIDZ2 zvols in the same zpool
I have a customer who has implemented the following layout: As you can see, he has mostly raidz zvols but has one raidz2 in the same zpool. What are the implications here? Is this a bad thing to do? Please elaborate. Thanks, Scott Gaspard Scott.J.Gaspard at Sun.COM > NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM > > chipool1 ONLINE 0 0 0 > >

x4500 resilvering spare taking forever?
I''ve got a Thumper running snv_57 and a large ZFS pool. I recently noticed a drive throwing some read errors, so I did the right thing and zfs replaced it with a spare. Everything went well, but the resilvering process seems to be taking an eternity: # zpool status pool: bigpool state: ONLINE status: One or more devices has experienced an unrecoverable error. raidz failure, trying to recover
Long story short, my cat jumped on my server at my house crashing two drives at the same time. It was a 7 drive raidz (next time ill do raidz2). The server crashed complaining about a drive failure, so i rebooted into single user mode not realizing that two drives failed. I put in a new 500g replacement and had zfs start a replace operation which failed at about 2% because there was two broken

X4500 ILOM thinks disk 20 is faulted, ZFS thinks not.
Hey Guys, Have any of y''all seen a condition where the ILOM considers a disk faulted (status is 3 instead of 1), but ZFS keeps writing to the disk and doesn''t report any errors? I''m going to do a scrub tomorrow and see what comes back. I''m curious what caused the ILOM to fault the disk. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Best Regards, Jason P.S. The system is

debugging RAM issues
Hey folks, I have 1 system ( Sunfire x2250 running 5.7 ) that is having issues with RAM, but I'm not sure how to debug it. And unfortunately it is not under support anymore. I started the job about 4 months ago and when I came aboard the guy who handed stuff over to me told me this issue was on his list of things he was unable to get to yet. He told me he'd seen errors in the past in

is putting zone paths on zfs supported in Solaris 10 u5/u6 ?? Documentation on that? - 66124245
ZFS experts! cu is looking for _documentation_ about putting zone paths on zfs. cu is running 5.10 KP 137111-06. he needs to make sure u5 kp is ok with zone roots. Also has FSs mounted via legacy. So...anybody have documentation on which u5 or u6 of Solaris (NOT OpenSolaris) supports zfs, if any update, for zone paths? -Brian -------- Original Message -------- Subject: RE: Sun#

file access algorithm within pools
Hello, What is the access algorithm used within multi-component pools for a given pool, and does it change when one or more members of the pool become degraded ? examples: zpool create mtank mirror c1t0d0 c2t0d0 mirror c3t0d0 c4t0d0 mirror c5t0d0 c6t0d0 or; zpool create ztank raidz c1t0d0 c2t0d0 c3t0d0 raidz c4t0d0 c5t0d0 c6t0d0 As files are created on the filesystem within these pools,

Key fingerprint logging
Hello there! I have made a patch against OpenSSH 3.0.2p1 which allows the fingerprint of the accepted key to be printed in the log message. It works with SSH1-RSA and SSH2 pubkey (DSA+RSA) authentication. This feature is controllable by the LogKeyFingerprint config option (turned off by default). Removing large holey file does not free space 6792701 (still)
Hello, I mentioned this problem a year ago here and filed 6792701 and I know it has been discussed since. It should have been fixed in snv_118, but I can still trigger the same problem. This is only triggered if the creation of a large file is aborted, for example by loss of power, crash or SIGINT to mkfile(1M). The bug should probably be reopened but I post it here since some people where

loop in R
Dear all, I need to do a loop in R, but I am not sure the software is generating "n" times the variables I request differently. When I ask to print the last matrix created, I just can see the loop for n=1. To be more precise, supose I need to simulate 10 times one variable and I want to fit the 10 variables simulated in a matrix. I dont really know what I am doing wrong, but I just

bug :zpool create allow member driver as the raw drive of full partition
IF you run solaris and opensolaris ?for example you my use c0t0d0 (for scsi disk) or c0d0 (for ide /SATA disk ) as the system disk. In default ,solaris x86 and opensolaris will use RAW driver : c0t0d0s0 (/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0) as the member driver of rpool. Infact, solaris2 partition can be more then one in each Hard Disk, so we also can use the RAW driver like : c0t0d0p1 (/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0p1)
